Not only because there would have been highly potential lawsuits, international trade effects, and of course both Biden and Trump administrations; Congress members couldn't come to a Bipartisan agreement with an increased number of border patrol officers and equipment to completely close and secure the border.
Trump did use 42 because of the world wide COVID pandemic, but years after the COVID outbreak it was no longer valid.
Trump did negotiate a stay in Mexico policy, however, that deal obviously wasn't worked out to be long term. I haven't researched all that...as to the reasons that that was no longer desirable as well for the Mexican Government yet.
The national head of homeland security did go recently to the Mexican president to talk about that, and there was some talks. Mexico does want The United States to concentrate more to stop the illegal gun smuggling for cartels into their country. So hypothetically that is a possibility for the tradeoff to get a better deal with Mexican cooperation to help stop illegal immigrants coming through Mexico at their borders north and south.
It isn't that simple to close any US border.
Trump couldn't do it, why expect Biden too, either.
Immigration Laws have to be updated and more border security funds have to be approved for more border patrol officers, ect... But former Trump and his Republican maga Congress members just blew that...for Trump to Continue his fear mongering, complain, accuse biden for not doing what Trump self couldn't do: close border, and campaign with.
So now it's not just Biden's fault but it's Trump's fault BIG BIG time for putting a STOP on the new immigration laws and Border Security enforcement money to hire more Border Security officers, equipment, ect.

Let me make this clear, Biden & his Administration have let illegal immigrants into our country with no background checks. They then give them free plane tickets to travel and $5,000 to $7,000 cash using OUR TAX MONEY.
Currently, New York and California are giving these immigrants credit cards, allowing them to take out loans, free housing and removing kids from schools to house more immigrants.
Biden mandated the “pokes” but they have allowed immigrants into our country unpoked. Instead of closing the border and getting rid of these illegals. Biden’s wanting to give the Ukraine yet another $60,000 billion of our tax dollars and fund Israel more.
