  • Sorry, I had to re-upload this video!
    Thanks for watching. In this video I climb and descend a small mountain pass in West Virginia while displaying data from a scanguage III. I'm towing a 2023 Forest River Ibex 19 QTH Toy Hauler with my 2023 Toyota Tundra, non-hybrid. This truck has the 3.5 twin turbo engine connected to a wonderful 10-speed automatic transmission. This is the limited trim with basic 4x4 and the rear air suspension. I love how this truck tows and I'm really happy to report that it does a pretty good job of keeping transmission temperatures and other temps in check. So far, I am very pleased with how this truck tows, but obviously, this isn't the Ike Gauntlet in the middle of July, so results will vary. Cheers!

    I live in West Virginia and my family has a camp not too far from where you crossed into the state. I’ll be towing a camper with my 2023 Tundra TRD Off-Road Premium over almost identical terrain for the next six months or so while we remodel the camp. Thanks for this video!!!

    Thanks! Very informative. I appreciate the information on that mount. I've been looking but was not thrilled with the idea of drilling holes into the dash.

    Good info thanks. Just got a 2023 Tundra yesterday. Replacing my 2012 Tundra. I pull a 25’ airstream camper. A little heavier than yours. I may want to look into getting that monitor you have. It is great to see your 3rd gen Tundra doing so well.

    Great detailed video...I just picked up a 2024 Tundra non-hybrid 1794, coming from an underpowered V-8 F-150, and plan to tow a 25' Keystone trailer similar weight to yours in the near future. I was hoping for better mileage but not surprised.

      This is the worst economy I've gotten with this trailer by far. On one 240 mi round trip I got 10.1. on a short 30 mi trip I got about 11.5. so depending on tires and the season and the roads are traveling, you should get better than what I got in this video. By the time I made it all the way back home, the fuel economy meter was reading just a hair under 9.0.

      @@ThomperBeThompin do you have the Load-Leveling Rear Height Control Air Suspension and if not do you know if this can be added later?

    • @ThomperBeThompin
      @ThomperBeThompin  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@rogermeyer860 Yes I do have the load leveling rear suspension. I knew I wanted it going in so I figured I'd get it from the factory with the warranty. You could always add a system later which is great because it's easily removable as well. That said, it won't be quite as easy to use as the factory setup.

    Great video. I pull a 6000 lb rv with no issues however I did have the warning light come on regarding transmission oil overheating when climbing a steep mtn road not pulling anything. I had it in 3rd gear which was probably a bad idea. Let truck sit for 30 minutes with hood open after warning appeared. Do you think I did any damage by overheating possibly. I have 25,000 miles on 2022 limited non hybrid. Thank you.

      I'm certainly no expert, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think you likely did little to no damage to your transmission, but probably to the transmission fluid. Every extra minute that fluid spends at higher temperatures further degrades the fluid and how the engineers intended it to perform. I'd make sure to drain/fill (or possibly flush) your transmission fluid at regular intervals or perhaps even now if you're concerned.
