I agree. there was absolutely no force being applied to those load bars. That’s the perfect example of not trusting someone else hooking up your trailer for you. Always do your walk around checks. Put your hands on every item connecting the truck to the trailer. I’m sure he was distracted and did not notice it.
I towed my 5th wheel with my 2010 tundra SR5 crewcab. Sliding hitch with the 5' bed made this all possible. Towed it for just over 169000 miles. Airbags, My 5th wheel weighs 8600 dry and packed was just over 9600lb. Loved the tundra, hated the gas mileage. Averaged 6mpg.
Oh my goodness.. TOYOTA. Can you please hire me as your spokesperson for these events in future, please? As well Whoever set up that hitch the tortionbars are NOT even tight. When they're swing back and forth like that you're not putting any tension on it. That was riding all on the truck
I used a Reese Dual Cam WDH on my 2008 Tundra for almost a decade towing my 27ft Toy Hauler, and I just can't imagine the new Tundra could tow any better without a properly setup WDH, like the setup I had. I'd be interested to feel that out myself someday though, to prove myself wrong.
Ain’t no way the new tundra will pull more than the good ole 5.7 I have a sr5 2016 TRD I pull my 33ft 9,400 lbs camper dry. All the time no problems at all I enjoy it actually
A good rule of thumb is the bed should be level. If it squats then whatever you are towing is a little too heavy. Forget the advertisements because a half ton is still a 1/2 ton. 1000 pounds depending on bed length. A 4 and a half foot bed you will be overloaded. Three to four inches to reward of the center of the drive axle. 35 years driving big trucks, transport in campers an trailers more recently in little trucks and I think this camper is a little more than the truck can handle safely on the road with traffic and weather. But I would rather have more truck than load instead of the other way around. But that's just me though.
Appreciate the tongue view camera. Shows at least the ignorance of whoever connected it or most the deceptive of big auto to embellish the "air ride". Air ride doesn't put the hitch weight back to trailer. WDH is a much better setup.
I have a 2016 TRD SR5 I have a 33ft 9,400 lbs wilderness camper. I pull it 240 miles round trip all the time and it pulls it no problem at all. Airbags and a good weight distribution hitch. The chains are junk. I have solid bars. I would feel comfortable pulling more honestly
@@BTBRVReviews …but that’s not the point is it…. Frankly i’m sorry you published this video… you are simply helping them with their propaganda. I understand it’s their event, and their truck, but this is your video.
Looks like farming and camping country in the area you're at. Kinda pretty. Small town feel. I hope to live in a place like that one day. No more big cities....quiet, comfortable spaces only.
One of the best hailing trucks is the Titan XD and it’s so disrespected !!!! I hauled a 1970 trans am from Arkansas to South Texas …. My passengers couldn’t believe how solid , safe , smooth and just comfortable the experience was ….. flat and mountain terrain
I thought air ride suspension doesn't make a difference in this case? I thought it should be kept at the bare minimum because air ride does NOT help in weight distribution...just improves ride quality. Doesnt even look like the WDH is set up right...
Color me dumb. A normally aspirated V8 is going to have less heat and stress than a Turbo V6 engine. This means more wear and tear, more heat and a SHORTER LIFESPAN. I’ll wait until 2021 Tundras have 300,000 miles of towing.
Oh boy! That's embarrassing They had no understanding of how to set up that WDH. I have this exact hitch on a 26' TT. And honestly, it's a pretty good hitch for what it is. I used the sway control when we were crossing Kansas and it made a HUGE difference. But this video is not very flattering for Toyota. Incompetence.
What is the point of this truck? I just looked up the specs and my 2500HD Chevy 4x4 crew cab gets better mileage than what is rated on the Trundras, with over 2x the payload and a bigger gas engine and larger bed. Much better for towing as well.
Your truck is also much bigger, heavier, with a far worse turn radius, worse off road, and doesn’t have several specimens that have reached 1 million miles on nothing but routine maintenance. The Tundra is perfect for those who want to pull a light or medium trailer and still go off-roading after dropping their trailer off at the campsite. It has the best turn radius in its class. Approach and departure angles are far better than your truck, too. Made in Texas, and Toyota didn’t take any bailout money. :)
I agreed these people know nothing about physics and mechanics. The old tundra tows better and it is more solid. All these is non-sense. Worst ever RUclips about Tundra ever seen.
This is completely deceptive. The torsion bar are waggin loose on the 2021. That is not how to employ this system. You are an f’ing shill for Toyota!! This is from a Tundra owner. Once you posted the 5.7 was gone, my wife our families Tundra owner said, piss off!! I guess when she wants to replace here current Tundra. We will be looking for a low mileage 2021 to get the I-force V-8. The same goes for me. I drive a 2018 F-150 with a Coyote 5 liter V-8. If the motor is fazed out guess I will be shopping the bow tie or the ram. Kind of sucks to see your channel sell out to endorse a truck non-objectively.
First video clearly showed that truck/trailer improperly set up, (trailer not level and truck squatted) then this video WD bars with no pressure on them. I quit watching. Will not watch third video.
What a joke. Mike S. You should be ashamed. All this hype over a " game changer" ??? Unbelievable.... Less MPG, LESS PAYLOAD and LESS TOWING than a F 150. What game are you changing>?
Immediately noticed the dangling WDH bars and knew that this was a publicity stunt lol.
I call BS… those chains had zero tension on them… this “test” is simply designed to emphasize how “great” the new suspension is on the newer trucks.
I agree. there was absolutely no force being applied to those load bars. That’s the perfect example of not trusting someone else hooking up your trailer for you. Always do your walk around checks. WHAT WHY ARE THE BARS JUST HANGING THERE?!?! THEY AREN'T DOING ANYTHING

Six mpg. I guess I won’t complain about the 9.5mpg I get towing 15000lbs with my F350.
@@reddymon Yea, you got the right truck for that. But not Mel

It is embarrassing that Toyota sent the media out in truck that didn’t have WDH setup correctly. Did they show sticker for 2021 on when you need WDH?

The weight distribution was not being used hardly at all with the way it was adjusted.

JD did they not tighten up the bars on suppose. They are basically useless the way the are set up.
I saw that too! The right side bar just swaying
Agreed. I was not able to adjust the setup...plus, not a fan of the WDH they used.

WD hitch was not adjusted correctly & never showed the hitch rating , its a reason why they not showing these numbers

Towing is much different today compared to 30 years ago. Much safer now.
Why is the old truck always towing the brick and new towing an Airstream?
What hitch setup, do u recommend? Thanks 😊
The weight distribution bars. Are loose. They ain’t doing a thing
Any word if these tires are load range E on the new tundra
No numbers , GVW, payload , hitch rating ?
They don't have the numbers yet
Damn JD ... 2600 lb payload in a 1500? You sure that's correct? That's a lot for a 1500 series truck.
That was the cargo capacity for the trailer
@@z50king29 -- Oh ok. lol I guess I didn't hear that correctly. Thanks for clearing it up.
Which is better? F150 with the max tow package @ 13k lbs...but don't mind me...
