Very nice enjoyable ride. I like the people we met, the range of ages, the casual dress and shoes. I dislike the people on scooters. Somehow less Dutch.
understandable but you do need to learn a bit more Dutch to become better in it. hout = wood/timber houd or hou is probably what you wanted as that could mean love(s). vrijhijd should have been spelled vrijheid (ei has the same sound as ij) plat land is translated to flat land (which the Netherlands mostly is), though i guess what you wanted to say was countryland/farmland? which would have been platteland.
Looks great and another super ride-along-with-Mark, so thank you for this. Any chance of another ride along this on a winter's night so we can see how well the lighting works then?
I noticed that many of the verges are uncut in the earliest parts of the journey whereas later on they are generally cut.Is there a regional or national policy on this issue ? In the uk I believe that more areas are becoming aware of the importance of rolling back the influence of the tidymaniacs.
Bob, Care for public spaces is usually a matter for the municipal authorities (gemeentes) here in the Netherlands. I am personally glad to see that in recent times many of these authorities have reduced the level of mowing the verges and green spaces in towns and villages. Better for the insect populations is often the reason given. (it also saves monney of course)
Reporting invasive plants like Berenklauw (Heracleum mantegazzianum, commonly known as giant hogweed) will also see the verges cut daily for months to get rid of the plant. It can make thousands of seeds if allowed to flower and it is toxic to nearby plants and even animals, quickly taking over land. People and dogs can get nasty blisters from the plants sap.

@@paolagrando5079 Hi Paola. Waalwijk once, long long ago, used to be a city of shoemanufacture. This path was once a railwayline, then called Halve Zolen Lijn because the train carried soles for shoes, made in the region, to Waalwijk. After the railway was made into cycletrack the cool name stayed.
@Frank Hooper, nah, play it at this speed and enjoy the ride if you ride along. Use a big screen, and a stand for your bicycle. Like a Tracx... on rainy days it works wonders too.
Your videos are like meditation

Thank you! Every winter I miss riding out for hours. Such videos help. This one was very relaxing without any talk.
Bedankt voor de video! Het is verbazingwekkend hoe jullie, Nederlanders, erin geslaagd zijn om zo ' n fantastische schoonheid te creëren!
Ik hout van het plat land en het gevoel van vrijhijd. Heel mooi. Groetjes naar Nederland!

Very dutch to start complaining about the spelling. It was perfectly clear what you meant and thanks for the effort
@@koekum2142 was not meant to be read as complaining, technically if it was spoken it sounds correct.
So sorry about the beterweter trying to correct your Dutch. Lovely to hear you enjoy the Netherlands. Groetjes to where ever you may be!
Just excellent, I love when your videos come out

Halvezolenpad, waspik. Loving these names. XD
Half Soles Path.

Ah you didn't go all the way to Drunen? Missed oppertunity!

Bob,
Care for public spaces is usually a matter for the municipal authorities (gemeentes) here in the Netherlands.

@@blablabla-qs5io Yes I agree. It's much much better for insects. Besides seeing wild flowers growing there is very nice to see

Nice trips...
What kind of camera and rig do you use for this? I want to make video's like this too, but I don't know what to use.
DJI Pocket 2 would be perfect for this. A lot beter than what has been used here (to much compression)
@@Poepopdestoep and how would you attach that to the bike? Is there some kind of adapter/attachement for that?
@@marktegrotenhuis with the tripod mount accessorie you can attach it to almost anything.

4:33 what are these two sculptures on the sides of the road?
I've found the answer in the other video. Thanks. ☺
This cycling path is called the "Half Soles Path" so the local government commissioned shoe related art.
@@RBAWintrow Oh, now I'm curious about the name of the path. Why "Half Soles"?
