    Very nice enjoyable ride. I like the people we met, the range of ages, the casual dress and shoes. I dislike the people on scooters. Somehow less Dutch.

    Ik hout van het plat land en het gevoel van vrijhijd. Heel mooi. Groetjes naar Nederland!

    • @DarkDutch007
      @DarkDutch007 3 года назад

      understandable but you do need to learn a bit more Dutch to become better in it.
      hout = wood/timber
      houd or hou is probably what you wanted as that could mean love(s).
      vrijhijd should have been spelled vrijheid (ei has the same sound as ij)
      plat land is translated to flat land (which the Netherlands mostly is), though i guess what you wanted to say was countryland/farmland? which would have been platteland.

    I noticed that many of the verges are uncut in the earliest parts of the journey whereas later on they are generally cut.Is there a regional or national policy on this issue ? In the uk I believe that more areas are becoming aware of the importance of rolling back the influence of the tidymaniacs.

      Bob,
      Care for public spaces is usually a matter for the municipal authorities (gemeentes) here in the Netherlands.
      I am personally glad to see that in recent times many of these authorities have reduced the level of mowing the verges and green spaces in towns and villages.
      Better for the insect populations is often the reason given.
      (it also saves monney of course)

      @@blablabla-qs5io Yes I agree. It's much much better for insects. Besides seeing wild flowers growing there is very nice to see

      Reporting invasive plants like Berenklauw (Heracleum mantegazzianum, commonly known as giant hogweed) will also see the verges cut daily for months to get rid of the plant. It can make thousands of seeds if allowed to flower and it is toxic to nearby plants and even animals, quickly taking over land. People and dogs can get nasty blisters from the plants sap.

    Suggestie: doe een windkap om je microfoon. Dat zou in een stuk fijnere audio resulteren; nu zit er een laag donderend gebrom onder alles door de wind op de microfoon.

      This cycling path is called the "Half Soles Path" so the local government commissioned shoe related art.

    • @KosmiekAltertainment

      @@paolagrando5079 Hi Paola. Waalwijk once, long long ago, used to be a city of shoemanufacture. This path was once a railwayline, then called Halve Zolen Lijn because the train carried soles for shoes, made in the region, to Waalwijk.
      After the railway was made into cycletrack the cool name stayed.
