The Pete Brock BRE Datsuns were at a local Datsun dealer before the race. This was in Bloomington, Minnesota. The cars were actually tested out a little on Highway 494. Pretty cool to see that.
Those late sixties and early seventies sedans made great racing cars, when I started in 78 the grids at my level were full of 510s Alfas, BMW 2002s Lotus Cortinas, and Mazda RX2s. At my circuit the closed wheel cars were all run together so the fields would be larger and mixed in would be Lotus 7s, Lotus 23s the occasional Chevron B8 or B12, Production MGBs and Triumph Spitfires and Datsun 2000s, Porsche 911s and a few V8 Mustangs and Camaros. It was a great time.
Awesome video and GREAT memories! Thank you. Jack stands on sand -- a little dangerous?! I was thinking I would not have liked to be wrenching under that set up at 0:34 -- no thanks. I had a jack stand tip once and only my reactions saved me.
Fantastic film! The quality is so good 👌👍. Thanks for giving us a peak back to some great racing.

What a wonderful bit of film to find, especially since I'm (re)reading The Stainless Steel Carrot right now.

Donnybrooke Speedway is better known today as Brainerd International Raceway, in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this. Sadly, we destroyed every 510 we could get our hands on.
Awesome footage! And floor jacks on sand are misery!
And snow!

Those Bugs seemed to hold their own!
Yes I remember seeing them at mid-Ohio and I was amazed to see them pass the BMW 2002s.
