I’m having Ziebart throw a set on for me. Basically make my truck more handicap accessible for me and my wife is a hobbit so. I swear it’s like your channel has covered me on everything I want to do to my ride. Thanks man.

The Rough Country power steps work just fine and have zero issues with the power boost and cost half as much as the amps

I've had amp research steps on my past 2 trucks and love them. I think you'll definitely enjoy having them on, worth every penny imo.

I have a ram 1500 limited 2019 and the power steps are amazing they go down kinda like the AMP and im getting a new F-150 platinum and that's one thing I didn't like the power steps don't go down as the ones from the ram that are very similar to this AMP, I will be checking if I get used to those, everyone likes the one on the Ram but time will see, for now I will consider in the future to change the stock to this ones, great video!

Wish I had found your video sooner. Just found out on my 2024 Powerboost that there is now an electrical connection on the drivers side rear mounting bracket that also does not allow room for the step bracket to be mounted. So now I have a drivers side rear bracket and the passenger side front bracket that neither will clear the frame. Stuck with the kit as I had to cut the box longways to open it up. Nothing to ship back in, and the return shipping is astronomical due to the size and weight.

I'm 5' 7" and drive a 2018 GMC sierra 4x4 with a leveling kit up front. I like running boards to save the edge of my seat bolsters. I sold my OEM running boards for 300.00 and picked up a nice set of slightly used one motor AMP steps for 700.00. It even came with the OBD pass through. They work great. I've thought about finding two gear assemblies and buying the replacement motors and just converting my one motor to two motors - just a thought.

That's kinda where I am at the single motor pulls up or down and the idler gets bound up sometimes.
      Out of warranty of course

long term problem, the rubbing will created friction and eventually leaks, in an steady environment, i would said it works, but in a vehicle, the movement is constant.

Love the amp steps. Have had them
Before. But I’m a big Ford guy and have found it’s cheaper to buy used factory ford power steps and then run them with the amp harness works great and is less than half the cost generally. Have done that to a couple trucks now.

Love a research steps, I've had them on the last two of my trucks. Long term they do eventually fail. Had to replace Motors, which are about $125 each on both trucks. Hopefully the new design with two Motors will help out.🤙

I have had mine for almost a year. The motors can rotate I think 90 to 180 degrees so there isn't an issue for them to work on the Powerboost.

Thank you for the video. I have a stop that came with 2 wires for the elock box. One green and one blue. Now from everything I’ve read online I think green is lock and blue is unlock. Plan to do the same process you did, vampire splice and if the wires are backwards I’m assuming I can just switch it using the make side. Any suggestions to make this a breeze? I’ve wired the lights I have through the fender before. It’ll be the first time doing it through the small hole that leads into the cab.

I have these amp power step extremes on a Chevy with a 9" lift and for some reason driver side has a gap between the steps and the body about the size of two fingers (index on top of middle) and it bothers me and looks kinda tacky..not sure if this is because they're extremes but do u think this is do to it having two motors or was its just installed slightly incorrect or what? Any suggestions

Did you go with powerstep xtreme this time again? If not why not? Trying to determine if only difference is dual motors

I did. Honestly I do prefer the extreme version for the dual motors but I also used to have the base single motor and it was just fine.

Since these are connected to the OBDII port and not individual door switches, do both boards deploy when you open a door?

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  Год назад

No. They operate independently with each side.

Enjoy your videos. You mentioned having the model with the single motor. After having both do you see a huge advantage to the dual motor? Is it worth the additional $400?

If you live in an area where you might get more ice / snow or really beat up on them then yes. I have a slippery slope mentality when buying stuff like this and just tend to figure I’ve gone this far so…. But if you are looking to save a buck I’ve had the single motor and it was fine (in snow as well)
