I have some fun tips. •you can erase specific colours by selecting the eraser and changing its colour •There is a semi transparent tool in the brushes drop down menu •bigger is better, small rez turns out exporting crappy so I tend to use at least 3000×2000 pixles sometimes I make my stuff so big that I end up lagging my pc lol •sketch lines should be thinner and do not be afraid to do thick on outlines because you can always colour over it •be confident in your brush strokes, lines in ms paint come out better with a steady hand •gradients are a fucking hassle but look cool when done right. •sometimes using a white brush is better than using the eraser •line tools are ok to use sometimes but can become painfully time consuming when constantly used In short thats it, and I use ms paint for fun tbh.

You can do a rough sketch in ms paint. here's how. >Draw the rough sketch with something that isn't black >Draw the outline with with black (I recommend using the pencil tool or line tools because they don't leave white pixels) >Get the eraser and make it bigger using ctrl and plus on the number pad. >In "color one" select the rough sketch color >In "color two" select white or whatever the background color is >right click the mouse and hold it in. >Go over your rough sketch while still right clicking the mouse. >you're rough sketch with be gone but the outline won't be.
its been 11 months but i wanted to answer this so, if u use a colored sketch, you can do it normally then do the lineart with black, invert colors, then U go to properties in the right corner and select black and white ( and then remove it again) and then you have your black and white lineart with no sketch behind it
If you use the pencil, and then the fill tool, the white dots between the lines and colors wont be there. The paint brush is probably the worst thing to use in Ms Paint.
Ok, so maybe she was using ms paint wrong, but ms paint is still harder to use, and requires a lot of patience, and you have to be creative to get around certain problems. Just my opinion, but I this somthing like medibang paint or ibis paint x would do a great job, without causing too many problems, or being to complex for a beginner to understand
MS Paint gets such a bad rep, it's amazing for beginners, but I've since moved on to a paid program. If you knew all the tricks to Paint, that drawing would be easy.
I remember when I was a little kid I would make gradients going pixel by pixel. Its not terrible if you wanna make something simple, you can sketch and go over it with lineart if you know how :D
One of the neat things I learned about ms paint years ago was that if you right click with the eraser tool instead of left click it would only erase just the one color from your color pick instead of everything. I used to sketch in ms paint like this. Though this nugget of information isn’t useful at this point, but if there is anybody out there still using ms paint to draw and didn’t know this, well now you know.

*When you know you can't buy any art programs* *Uses Paint* I use paint :/ And The worst tool is the basic paintbrush it leaves pixel bits… I recommend the pencil isn't near the fill bucket,It leaves no pixel marks
I actually use all the tools, it just depends on what I'm making, For making the sky and clouds for landscapes I use the water paint brush. For trees and plants I use the oil painting brush, and then highlight them with the crayon. I only use paint fill when I want to make the background. Occasionally I use pencil and pen, but only for very minute details. The tool I use most is the marker. I always have white pixels left behind, regardless of the tools I use. However, I just zoom in to 400 or 600 pixels and then fill them in with whatever color I was try to use there. It's time consuming, but it works.

I drew in Mspaint a few times, and I usually use MediBang paint. I found drawing in Mspaint was really fun and interesting to make ^^ I was inspired by the artist Wasabii and her speed draw in Mspaint. Also, you can get rid of a sketch in Mspaint. Not good at explaining, but you can look it up.
I also use Medibang Paint! I have tried to learn other free programms but nothing seems to work so well for me except Medibang Paint. (Though I'm also still learning Medibang Paint xD)
I'm p sure it was closer to $800, still a lot. Either way it's a subscription based service now, so it's more approachable (I think it's like $20/mo or something? Idk I have a student discount)
I think the price of Photoshop is plain and greedy usury, and there really is no excuse considering all the decent programs you can get for free or a modest one-time payment.
lmao you can use the eraser tool to change the color of the lines by right clicking and spreading it around. I never use the paintbrush tool, it just always leaves tiny white pixel everywhere. The color palette thing is super difficult, I usually have to make the size of the canvas a bit bigger, then kind of put my colors there. there is so many little tricks in ms paint, it was a big learning curve. XD I just use ms paint for fun and to challenge myself a bit. It is a good time waster when you get the hang of it. ;p
I even made a whole comment to fully explain it; - - I'm a usual MS paint user, so I know you can make a sketch fairly easy. What you do is: - First select the pencil tool from your hot bar area - Next (this is optional if you prefer a more cleaner sketch and less pencil looking) go to the size tab (near the color palette) and put it to the biggest selection. After just draw your sketch BUT ONLY IN ONE COLOR! And no background yet either, besides just a flat one color background. (Quick tip, use that pencil tool with the max brush to do line art, it doesn't leave residue if you wanna change the line art a different color. And it just looks cleaner!) - Then (this is the tricky part) draw over your sketch IN A DIFFERENT COLOR! Don't fill in the colors yet too, now after your done with this select the eraser looking tool, now read carefully in the two squares with two colors in them. Put the EXACT color of the sketch in the first box (do this by clicking on the box then clicking on the color, it should turn that square that color) and white (or that one color background) in the second one. Hold down right click and sweep over the sketch, and TA DA! - Now you can fill in your work and cut your character out and work on the background (put your character on a different MS page just in case you need to copy something else to not get them lost forever) If it got rid of the sketch and the line art, undo and do left click. If the color of your sketch just goes on your background, put the color of your background in the first box and the color of the sketch in the second. And after you learn this keep doing it to master it!
There are *so* many neat little MS Paint tricks that are so poorly documented and/or unintuitive that really make using it *so* much easier, like the eraser being a color-replace tool or knowing that the pencil is just infinitely superior to the default paintbrush tool. I'd be super interested in seeing a professional artist take a week to learn the ins and outs of the program and do a video about it.

You do realize that, like adobe programs in general, that if you know what you’re doing and what settings to use. Paint is good too. Does no one even get this tho :/ she briefly mentions this but N O O N E U S E S T H E M A R K E R T O O L Just know that “amazing ms paint art” isn’t that difficult to pull off and a hang of the program. For me I take a break every now and then and go in paint bc sometimes it’s calmer to work with pixels
You can do a sketch in paint, use colour removal! Get the eraser, put the first colour to what you wanna remove, and the second to how you wanna replace it, then right click as you go over!
I use a quicker method! You could have the colour of the sketch you want to remove in the 2nd colour box and white in the 1st, transparent select the image and move it away from its original place, and you will leave behind a box of the desired removed colour (which you can just fill in with the bucket) and your image will be sketch free!
One of the best things to use on MS Paint for me is the Curve tool. Sketch with the Pencil tool until you're happy with it, then use Curve on it for a consistent line.
I use a free program, and, frankly, it's good, but photoshop or clip studio paint is probably better But I still love Medibang :3 Idk what I'm commenting anymore
I also use Medibang and it's great. I started with Photoshop but given as my laptop's graphic card isn't that good, some brushes lag a lot. This doesn't happen with Medibang and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It is easy to use, very responsive, has great brushes and semitone choices. Krita is also awesome, but I think it's harder and less intuitive, so I rarely use it.

this video probably would have turned out better if you'd have done a little research on paint and what its capable of. creating really cool, detailed pieces in paint is a little tedious but not to hard if you actually try and understand how to use the program optimally. one of the biggest things to avoid is the fancy brush tools as their all antialiased however theres no antialiasing for the fill tool so filling lines made with the more fancy brush tools quickly turns into a gross mess. save those fancy brushes for the end! also dont be lazy with colours! you've got the choice to make your own pallet so don't fuss about the preset colours not meeting your needs when changing them is so easy.
Get Krita. It's a great program and it's free. Definitely number 2 for me after ps, mainly because my pc has some issues with bigger files, but I seem to be a minority on that.
I can't believe PhotoShop is 1,000 bucks?! lol glad I use paint, wouldn't touch that fancy stuff with a 10 foot pole.. o_o i mean I do use Gimp on occcasion, but my pc is so awful no joke, It lags whenever I use anything more complex than paint. Yeah.

Can confess, it's a mess. I've been using it for over a year and a half now, and I still can't get anything out of it other than something that came out of the 80s.
I love this cartoon character and the idea of her having an "umbrella." That's very unique and whimsical. I love your style! Although the one you made with Photoshop look more crisp, clear, and detailed, I think both paintings are adorable. I actually think the character made with MS Paint has a cuter and more expressive face. Although MS Paint is harder to use, and it has far less features than Photoshop, I think the main reason why the MS Paint picture wasn't as crisp and clear was mainly because you haven't gotten used to using it yet. I think if you practiced using it as much as you use Photoshop, or maybe a little more, you could make much better pictures with it. But, since you already use Photoshop, and it has more features and is easier to use, there probably is little motivation for you to practice using MS Paint. I'm a mother of six, so I don't have a lot of money to spare. So, although I've dreamed of getting Photoshop or some other sort of expensive painting/illustrating software, I only use MS Paint, an MS 3D Paint. I don't even have money for a Wacom, so I use my PC mouse for all my art. I use mostly FireAlpaca. It’s free and it was pretty easy to figure out (it works REALLY well too! You can create some awesome stuff in it!) I’ve been learning Photoshop, but it’s awfully complicated.
Using MS Paint takes skill. I discovered that you can make a transparent selection of whatever you are drawing. I think that its really good for adding layers, without making the layers.
Brittany McCarty not true. Fire Alpaca and Krita are also free, and they have layers and layer modes and opacity like Photoshop does. MS Paint is just a crappy program that wasn't made for illustration.
KaoKay I dont think you get what im saying. I'm not saying paint is the best. I know there are far better free programs, heck, i use gimp. But I feel like there were times where she could have put a bit more effort into it when drawing in paint.

Even timed how long she spent on her first illustration and spent the same amount of time on the second. What I am saying is that MS paint is not representative of the $0 price point lol. Actually in paint you can erase the sketch if you have your sketch color as color 1 and the color you want instead as color 2. The only thing you'd have to do differently is right click instead of left click
I use IbisPaint X and it's majority free if you just watch ads for a few things like if you want a few extra brushes. You can even use the brushes for almost all day and to activate them again just watch one more ad, they're usually only 15 seconds. It's a pretty good free program :-)
YES IRS SO GOOD I USE IT ON MY ANDROID TABLET GOD YES i just wish the resolution was higher though cuz when u zoom in the finished pic it looks really blurry but on ms paint finished pics the quality is so sharp when u zoom in- still use ibis because it has soooooooo muchhhh moreeeeeee features

Pencil tool depends on how rough you like your lines, i often use it for sketches
If you have a huge canvas, it's not rough. You can fill the colors properly too. and delete the sketches

There's actually a lot that you can do with Paint. You can make the illusion of layers and gradients.

there's many photoshop-like drawing apps that are free, like paint tool sai or krita
You could use ibispaint X since it's free and is good too, lavender town even made a video on it and she thought it was the best free app

lmao you can use the eraser tool to change the color of the lines by right clicking and spreading it around.
I never use the paintbrush tool, it just always leaves tiny white pixel everywhere.
The color palette thing is super difficult, I usually have to make the size of the canvas a bit bigger, then kind of put my colors there.
there is so many little tricks in ms paint, it was a big learning curve. XD
I just use ms paint for fun and to challenge myself a bit.
It is a good time waster when you get the hang of it. ;p

I'm a usual MS paint user, so I know you can make a sketch fairly easy. What you do is:

First select the pencil tool from your hot bar area
-
Next (this is optional if you prefer a more cleaner sketch and less pencil looking) go to the size tab (near the color palette) and put it to the biggest selection. After just draw your sketch BUT ONLY IN ONE COLOR! And no background yet either, besides just a flat one color background. (Quick tip, use that pencil tool with the max brush to do line art, it doesn't leave residue if you wanna change the line art a different color. And it just looks cleaner!)

Then (this is the tricky part) draw over your sketch IN A DIFFERENT COLOR! Don't fill in the colors yet too, now after your done with this select the eraser looking tool, now read carefully in the two squares with two colors in them. Put the EXACT color of the sketch in the first box (do this by clicking on the box then clicking on the color, it should turn that square that color) and white (or that one color background) in the second one. Hold down right click and sweep over the sketch, and TA DA!

Now you can fill in your work and cut your character out and work on the background (put your character on a different MS page just in case you need to copy something else to not get them lost forever) If it got rid of the sketch and the line art, undo and do left click. If the color of your sketch just goes on your background, put the color of your background in the first box and the color of the sketch in the second. And after you learn this keep doing it to master it!
There are *so* many neat little MS Paint tricks that are so poorly documented and/or unintuitive that really make using it *so* much easier, like the eraser being a color-replace tool or knowing that the pencil is just infinitely superior to the default paintbrush tool.
I'd be super interested in seeing a professional artist take a week to learn the ins and outs of the program and do a video about it.

Just know that “amazing ms paint art” isn’t that difficult to pull off and a hang of the program. For me I take a break every now and then and go in paint bc sometimes it’s calmer to work with pixels

When I used MS paint, I used the pencil tool (which is like 1 pixel big) and enlarged it so the colors would not mess up
You can do a sketch in paint, use colour removal! Get the eraser, put the first colour to what you wanna remove, and the second to how you wanna replace it, then right click as you go over!

You could have the colour of the sketch you want to remove in the 2nd colour box and white in the 1st, transparent select the image and move it away from its original place, and you will leave behind a box of the desired removed colour (which you can just fill in with the bucket) and your image will be sketch free!

I use IbisPaint on my IPad and it's great.. it has so many brush options and different tools. And it's free. Not all free drawing apps are bad
One of the best things to use on MS Paint for me is the Curve tool. Sketch with the Pencil tool until you're happy with it, then use Curve on it for a consistent line.
Use medibang paint pro, It's the closest drawing program to photoshop. :)

I also use Medibang and it's great. I started with Photoshop but given as my laptop's graphic card isn't that good, some brushes lag a lot. This doesn't happen with Medibang and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It is easy to use, very responsive, has great brushes and semitone choices. Krita is also awesome, but I think it's harder and less intuitive, so I rarely use it.

this video probably would have turned out better if you'd have done a little research on paint and what its capable of. creating really cool, detailed pieces in paint is a little tedious but not to hard if you actually try and understand how to use the program optimally. one of the biggest things to avoid is the fancy brush tools as their all antialiased however theres no antialiasing for the fill tool so filling lines made with the more fancy brush tools quickly turns into a gross mess. save those fancy brushes for the end! also dont be lazy with colours! you've got the choice to make your own pallet so don't fuss about the preset colours not meeting your needs when changing them is so easy.

Get Krita. It's a great program and it's free. Definitely number 2 for me after ps, mainly because my pc has some issues with bigger files, but I seem to be a minority on that.

i mean I do use Gimp on occcasion, but my pc is so awful no joke, It lags whenever I use anything more complex than paint. Yeah.

For line art, use the pencil tool so there’s no white line in between the line art and the colouring when you use the paint bucket tool. ;0

If you use the default brush then it won't fill in all the way. Just use the pencil tool, then you won't have any trouble

Can confess, it's a mess. I've been using it for over a year and a half now, and I still can't get anything out of it other than something that came out of the 80s.
I love this cartoon character and the idea of her having an "umbrella." That's very unique and whimsical. I love your style! Although the one you made with Photoshop look more crisp, clear, and detailed, I think both paintings are adorable. I actually think the character made with MS Paint has a cuter and more expressive face.
Although MS Paint is harder to use, and it has far less features than Photoshop, I think the main reason why the MS Paint picture wasn't as crisp and clear was mainly because you haven't gotten used to using it yet. I think if you practiced using it as much as you use Photoshop, or maybe a little more, you could make much better pictures with it. But, since you already use Photoshop, and it has more features and is easier to use, there probably is little motivation for you to practice using MS Paint.
I'm a mother of six, so I don't have a lot of money to spare. So, although I've dreamed of getting Photoshop or some other sort of expensive painting/illustrating software, I only use MS Paint, an MS 3D Paint. I don't even have money for a Wacom, so I use my PC mouse for all my art.

I use mostly FireAlpaca. It’s free and it was pretty easy to figure out (it works REALLY well too! You can create some awesome stuff in it!) I’ve been learning Photoshop, but it’s awfully complicated.

Using MS Paint takes skill. I discovered that you can make a transparent selection of whatever you are drawing. I think that its really good for adding layers, without making the layers.

She could have done everything she did in OTHER free programs with no extra effort. Has nothing to do with the price point.
Actually in paint you can erase the sketch if you have your sketch color as color 1 and the color you want instead as color 2. The only thing you'd have to do differently is right click instead of left click

I use IbisPaint X and it's majority free if you just watch ads for a few things like if you want a few extra brushes. You can even use the brushes for almost all day and to activate them again just watch one more ad, they're usually only 15 seconds. It's a pretty good free program :-)
