    15K miles on a clutch? As beautiful as the car is, I`ve owned a handful of 500+HP cars and gotten 60K or more, even with the notoriously fast wearing ceramic clutch I had last. I`d have driven it through the front window of the dealership if I had to pay for a clutch at 15K miles (obviously not literally but that is a shameful life expectancy).

    $325 for a detail that's crazy. And I'm sure they didn't use $1100 wax like I use on my car. I'm glad I leaned about 15 years ago to do my own. Because people will rob you and do a crap job. Like contractors doing work to your house. Better off learning to do it yourself.

    • @brannenthompson9662

      I had to check that to, twice too, $325 I bet it wasn't a professional valet doing it, for that price I would want a breakdown on the products they used just like an engine service, Because you would want to know if they used Turtle wax or some exotic clay, sorry was trying to make it sound like I know all about valeting exotic cars. lol. almost as much as a shock getting a £750 invoice for just a set of Gallardo front pads. and I used to think £75 for a set of Ford Focus front pads were expensive

    How long ceramic carbon pads last? After how many miles is ready to be changed?
    And same question for rotors
    I hear 10k to change them all but after how many miles is all this happening?

    Yeaahhh, I am getting the buy a car itch again, and I have been very pointedly looking at 911s (CS2-4, and GT3’s)... and naturally the dream... (mine at least)... a Ferrari. I am really considering a decent f430 (it is loud and is what a super car is... that’s not my style at all but I want to own one as a gift to myself, however impractical it is). I am looking at either a 430 coupe, 575M, 612 and on the bottom rung a 360 (everyone knows what a 360 is... it would just be a fun car to drive on occasion... the 575 and the 612 are actually rather practical... so I tell myself). For low 100k’s ... I would rather get a used Ferrari rather than a new 911 and be happy that I did something for me ... as I place my Eames Lounge Chair and study it on a weekend and think about things.

  • @hoppy760
    @hoppy760 5 лет назад

    Dealers are there to service your car and to rob you. Did you really need a clutch? Was it slipping? Unless you’re racing that thing why would you need to replace the clutch at 15k miles? Cuz dealers know some people with deep pockets really don’t care and won’t question it.

    Hook up with George Williams in the Ferrari Club of Atlanta, too... He has two Ferraris (including a 430) and will give great advice!

    • @surfinDelMar
      @surfinDelMar 5 лет назад

      Sandor Clegane The hell they are. Those cars are older Ferrari’s and they’re light years ahead of most current cars. Not everyone can pay $250k plus for a Ferrari so they buy a lightly used Ferrari. Even then a 360 is still $60k+ and a 430 is probably $85k on the low end...hardly for poor people.

      Doesn't really work that way for Ferrari. If you have a $200 part breaks and you fix it yourself, the next buyer is going to want to see proof that you bought the correct replacement part and installed it correctly. They will trust the dealer's word more than yours when looking at the maintenance record. So yeah go ahead and save $900 on labor, but it will cost you thousands when you try to sell it.

      Not so true. Many can easily afford the ongoing expenses. The part you are correct about is there are plenty of people that can buy one of these cars but God forbid and major issue may not have the cash to pay for that repair. Buying one of these cars is probably the easiest part of ownership. It’s the maintenance that perhaps sours future enjoyment. And anyone that thinks owning this car ups your romance game, think again. A woman tends to be more impressed by where a guy is going in his life not so much what he drives... my opinion. My horses seem to be more interesting to many females than my sports cars.

    • @taskerpro944
      @taskerpro944 6 лет назад +4

      Richard Torcato There's no such thing as an automatic transmission in a Ferrari.
      It's either a manual 6-speed with a manual (foot) clutch, or it's an F1 Transmission with the paddle shifters, that has an automatic computer controlled clutch.
      So both have a clutch and both probably last 20k or so if you know how to drive the car well.
      Also they stopped producing manual (foot clutch) transmission cars in 2011. There are no more Ferrari's of any model that you can get a true manual transmission in any more since 2012.
