He once said don't hate the black don't hate the white hate the bite maybe that has a broader meaning if you think about it I'm also very moved by their jams but just think about it we can heal this world if we try together 😊
Not enough willing to STAND thou Yet,, some don’t care, some to fc’ed up to care, even a few in our own neighborhoods, but,, a Strong Voice has moved mountains and civilizations, so STAND dammit,, agape love humanity even thou it maybe strange to u,, most of our original cultures have been lost to folk that don’t have world history in mine, just their version of what they want history to reflect,, dumb azzes, u can’t hide the truth, it won’t STAND!! My ex tried it,, and she couldn’t keep her lies straight ,,,😅,, the truth keeps u free,, and u sleep better,,!!!!😮😊
one of the best concerts I ever witnessed was Sly and the Family Stone. No one was sitting down - everyone dancing - and the vibe was unity - that's what they could do to a crowd.
The seventies was the best decade of my life. Every day was a good day so much fun, laughing and enjoying life. Absolute best music, hotest cars, hotest girls and happiest life. If I could pick one decade to live over it would be the beautiful seventies!
Sylvester’s songs are timeless classics, that always encourage love and acceptance of ALL human beings. We needed his music then, and we need it more now! ❤️❤️❤️
Sly and the family Stone was one of the 1st integrated band group which began in the 1960's during the unrest through out the country, civil Right's movement,dr.king,Malcolm x,and others plus John f.Kennedy and Robert kennedy, plus many other civil rights assassination plus protests of Vietnam war, riots and lives lost on colleges campuses. Those were traumatic times in our country and music artists like sly and many others brought us all together through their music of love and peace.
2000 miles away and around year 2000 in another culture a woman brought that up for us to sing after a faith based meeting. The impact of Sly and the Family Stone good lyrics felt around the World years later.
It’s really sad what became of him. He never recovered from the 80’s crack epidemic. He should’ve had it all and would’ve if he stayed this guy right here
Not sure when this was recorded but definitely near the end of the group. Larry Graham the bass player has already left, Sly is totally hammered and the energy and performance is way off their peak.
Offbeat clapping was painful, but audience upfront whose claps were picked up by mics mostly not white. Also, check out Sly’s band: black, white, mixed, female, male. He broke ground. He wasn’t a hater.
The audience is almost all Black. And that's an old, overused and kind of racist remark. Sly had a white drummer when I saw him in 1970. There was nothing wrong with his timing.
VVe. got Sly and the Family...bearing vvitness and sorry the Nevvbie 's have to life/learn sans them. Tough toenails this Time little ones...VVe vvaited. You came back to care for Us..Thank You Sylvester...and the F a m i l y . July 8th, 2023. Thank You, and Amen. VVe're listening.
Got me weeping on a Sunday morning. Where are we now, people?

Idk how we got to this low point, hate and greed winning right now.
Same here in nearly 2024😅
Not standing for right.😢😢😢😢

We need unity today in 2024.❤
Sly stone is very underated very talented in his own time

I graduated high school in 1975. I'm with you! Best decade ever. Today we are living is different times. Wish I had a time machine to go back..
He Means Everyone !!!! All Lives Matter !!!
Immortality achieved.
One cool cat and a class act....of course. It has been said that, "Sly was not ahead of the curve, he is the curve".
Sylvester’s songs are timeless classics, that always encourage love and acceptance of ALL human beings. We needed his music then, and we need it more now! ❤️❤️❤️

The drummer for the Police Stewart Copeland's grandfather played in an interracial jazz band🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wrong! Quite a few before that like Booker T and the MGs, Chambers Brothers, Jimi Hendrix Experience, and the Del Vikings to name a few.
what wonderful lyrics....just as true now as they were in 1970....STAND!
2000 miles away and around year 2000 in another culture a woman brought that up for us to sing after a faith based meeting. The impact of Sly and the Family Stone good lyrics felt around the World years later.
I am an old hippy baby, I love this.....
More than ever we must stand and fight for what is right.
The Family and their music and ideals are timeless!! This and Hot Fun in the Summertime are my favorites still!
That was real music and a great band. I'm watching and listening to it in 2023 and it still makes me want to dance. Love Sly.❤
I grew up with this music. Miss it so much. Real music.
Never seen this before. What a band.
One of the most potent musical scenes I have ever seen. I'll remember. Thank You.
Sly Stone; The Mozart of Funk! His life is a real good reason to hate drugs... and drug dealers
For my money 65" to 95" the best music was created.
@grayj7441 I got 1955-1995. I'm giving it up for: Little Richard, ELVIS &...CHUCK!!!!
" The story's for ALL of us. That's what I'm talkin about."
They seem really original and thier sound holds up. Cool outfits and vocals.
Rest In Paradise Sly. Legendary, Power To The Real FBA's
What a beautiful and talented man!
One of my favorite songs. The words have meaning.
Wow...that sounded so nice
This is the man who invented Funk , absolute legend !!
No, James Brown invented funk. Sly had helped to progress funk. He helped to change funk from the '60s style to what became popular in the '70s.
JB gave us the skeleton and Sly put the meat on it.
@@wademchenry1560 well put
Naw it was James Brown dude!
James Brown is Soul of Funk Music
One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. Why VAN MORRISON is simply, the greatest musical genius of all time.
Sylvester walked so Prince could run! #brilliance
Truth ✌️
Great observation
I can dig it
my favorite band in year 69 when i was young in that time
The first Funk/Rock and roll Band and they have some Great Songs..
He singing about Stand - and they all sitting down! Lol! Good on him to call them out
He wrote lyrics and music like he was working it in a broadway musical.
You are so gracious. Sly.
There’s a permanent crease in your right and wrong. Yes indeedy!
I like this more than the studio recording. More intimate.
the great Andy newmark who replaced greg Errico on drums. two of the best
Love both of them--funky funky! Man...this tune always kills me-so powerful!
He's so cool...."give me the funk, I gotta have some funk."
Another favorite of mine 😊🎤🎶🎧
he told you to stand and then he stood
Awesome!!
One of the greatest tragedies in music: The world never got to see a collaboration between Sly n Jimi. Can you just imagine?!!
the anthem for security guards everywhere
Yess!
It’s really sad what became of him. He never recovered from the 80’s crack epidemic. He should’ve had it all and would’ve if he stayed this guy right here
You can see how insanely high he was in this clip - the beginning of the end. He wasn't really even playing that keyboard and barely singing.
Sly was adorable
Not sure when this was recorded but definitely near the end of the group. Larry Graham the bass player has already left, Sly is totally hammered and the energy and performance is way off their peak.
Great drumming starting around 3:32!
The great Andy Newmark
Dat's it. 🧍♀️ STAND
✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
I don’t understand how you can have your butt glued to a seat when Stand is being played on radio, on a personal device, much less live, dang.
Look at this dude eons later!
S
Everybody is a star.I love you for who you are
😮
Stand
Great Band!
I remember sly as a totally Uber cool black hipster.
Greg Errico's drumming man!
That’s Andy Newmark on this video
Errico was on the recording but I think this was 1970 so he had left by then. I think the original recording was in 1968.
A American icon!
A gorgeous facI remeber dancing to the music electric circus nyc we were dancing like pros this black dude and me and he sang a gorgeous face oh what
One man i wish i could of meet he was brintiant

so...fucking...good!
Listening 2024.
😭☮️💜
💜🤘🏽
They don't ever show the drummer, do they? The drummer is the driving force of a musical band, and this band had a few talented ones!
True! Is this Andy Newmark ?
@Carlostherocker084 agreed that drum and bass combo is super tight
@Carlostherocker084 Fishbone's is pretty good too!😀
@Carlostherocker084 problems arise
Yes, it's Andy Newmark.

Música decauboi
Sly had an equal opportunity band.
