I can tell you the reason. The size difference between ATX and mATX mainboards is very small. So this could have been an ATX compatible case if it was just a few cm higher.
@@achannelhasnoname5182 I'm well aware. I have built many ATX, mATX, and ITX systems. I still believe there's no one size fits all. Different people like different builds. For some, they want smaller than ATX even if it's only slightly but need more IO than what's on an ITX board. Or for others they don't need everything that's on an ATX board so if they can get an mATX board for $20-30 cheaper, they are super happy. More options is better. Last thing we want it to be forced into only having one size.
@@achannelhasnoname5182 My o11 air mini absolutely supports ATX, but I need to go mATX (which I prefer anyway) to have a top mounted AIO along with bottom fans for the GPU. overall the case looks much more filled this way
Its amazing, I did 2 builds for cusins in it each with artic 360 AIO and atx PSU. Its also possible to fit a third 120mm fan in the bottom intake, but it definently needs a fan gril for it to be sensible.
ITX outshined it due to the fact that if you are building mATX, it's because you're looking to build something minimal and for a while, ITX didn't offer full feature sets. However, now those boards do and have for quite a while.
I agree, I searched for so long but still didn't find a good matx case. There are very few choices when it comes to parts compatible with itx cases and they are all much more expensive.
I thought it was just me but from the comments it seems that a lot of people still have love for mATX cases. For me it's the best size and it really should be the default for everyone. It has the only full bandwidth people really use for their GPU, enough space for ventilation, so no concerns like ITX cases, enough length for most GPUs, smaller footprint, enough to put the case on top of the table and of course the cheapest motherboards.
I agree. I went ITX when I built my last pc, but mATX every time prior. My old enclosure was a Fractal Mini R2. So it had soooo much flexibility. I use it as a NAS now, so since there's no GPU, I can have 6 3.5" drives, 2 2.5" drives and 1 m.2 ssd. That's an insane amount of storage. Even with a full sized GPU, you can can still have 3 3.5" drives and 2 2.5" drives. SLI/Crossfire isn't really a thing anymore, a lot of motherboards have multiple m.2 slots and built in wifi. I don't get the appeal of ATX nowadays unless you're trying to go super over the top.
Honestly I never understood why regular ATX formfactor is the most popular one. Parts are more expensive, for 95% of people the extra connectivity will never be used, and the only benefit from a case-perspective is that they're perhaps a bit easier to build in and you can support 360mm aio rads etc without much difficulty no matter what price range you buy from. But why is this the standard? I do not know.
@@Real_MisterSir In the older days it made sense as less things were integrated on the motherboard due to still rather large processes in manufacturing chips. Many PCs had separate add-in boards for specific tasks which was slowly being done away with as more things became integrated into the chipset or the CPU itself. Kinda the same reason it is still the platform of chioce for quite a few enthusiasts today as they can load it down wit more add-ins like more NVMe drives, SATA drives, GPU, Capture cards, sound cards etc. An ATX sized tower also has plenty of space for multiple radiators or tricked out custom loops or just more space to cable manage. mATX is a good compromise for those who don't need as much add-ons and would take a smaller footprint that still offers some expandability as opposed to Mini ITX systems.
I got this case a couple of months ago. I spent so much time choosing the most practical case and I am pretty happy with my choice! Things that I love: - No tools are needed to remove the outer plates. - No stupid RGB lighting - No unpractical glass doors that add weight but are just to show off your RGB lighting - Mesh plates that help to ventilate the case - It's long enough to fit a full-sized GPU (Zotac RTX 3080 in my case) - USB-C port on the front panel - Quite lightweight - The price is pretty reasonable (Cost me about $80 USD) Things that I didn't like (because of the mesh walls): - The walls get dusty quite fast - The noise level is probably higher than with more enclosed cases. - RTX 4080 is too big for this case.
@@conprika540 It's an amazing case but the front I/O USB cable is pretty thick. I had to get a right-angle adapter for the USB header on my Aorus B550 Pro-P motherboard otherwise the cable kept interfering with the fans on the GPU. Dust could also be be a problem long term depending on your environment; it might need get the dust blown out regularly. That said, it's gorgeous, it fits my Sapphire Nitro 6700XT no problem, and everything stays really cool. Great case.
holy crap i have the exact same gpu and am planning to do a m-atx build for the first time! the aesthetics that come with this case are so pleasing and the fact that you could just carry the pc through your house is cool. its also not obnoxiously big and, as you said, not an rgb explosion.
@@conprika540 Sorry for the late reply. The only small downside for me was that cable management is something you'll have to spend your time on in this case. Also, not exactly a con but I added 2x140mm and 2x120mm fans but they lowered the temperature only by a couple degrees Celsius, probably because the mesh walls are doing a good job at ventilating the case already.
Hope to see more mATX cases in future 👍 I feel that they are the ideal form factor for the 'intermediate-tier' users, as they are essentially like ATX but without the additional PCI-e expansion slots. They aren't so monstrous and imposing as ATX.
Bought it last year, it replaced my previous Define Mini C TG and the GPU temps are so much better. Build quality is top notch. Even fits a 280mm Liquid Freezer II leaving the psu in the highest position with plenty of space in the bottom for cabling and ssd's. To reduce noise from the bottom intake fans I used noctua spacers to distance my a12x25 a bit from the mesh.
Man, I've never knows this is a thing. Was it a noticeable difference? My Silent Wings Pro 4 suddenly sound much worse at 80% than 70%, so I wonder if these could help.
I saw this case last year and knew I had to have it, so I bought it. It's absolutely gorgeous. It looks very unique with some RGB in it as the square mesh creates a pixelated effect. I love how my GPU seems to almost fill up the bottom of the case, while not being suffocated at all. I saw someone on reddit who managed to get an extra 120mm fan on the bottom and even one in the front using the rubber anti-vibration mounts. They kind of fit through the mesh of the bottom panel and inner front panel. I did the same so I have 8 fans (4 in, 4 out). I do have a small form factor PSU which helps with the front fan, and you will lose your option to place an SSD there. Also I turned the PSU so it takes in air from the front instead of from the inside of the case. My el-cheapo Artic p12 fans are quiet in this case, but you do hear air flow, but also I don't hear it because I game with my headset on.
Update: this case has a TG version. I own one and it’s awesome! The rear panel is still mesh so you can swap the TG and mesh to get both looks, so I think that’s the way to go. Thank you hardware Canucks for covering this case.
Finally, more nice case designs for M-Atx! I transitioned to M-Itx mostly because there were absolutely zero good looking cases that were practical. I ended up with the nr200 which I found was the least limiting M-Itx case but I definitely would have considered this and the fractal pop!
@@arewealone9969 I actually switched CPUs since my previous comment to an i5-13400F paired with an Arc A770 LE 16GB card. The 7700X I still have was swapped into a black NZXT H1 V2 case and paired with an MSI RX 6750 XT Mech 2X 12GB card. Both rigs use 32GB DDR5 dual channel modules, though the Intel rig can only run at 4800MT/s; the AMD rig runs at 6000MT/s.
I'm wondering about the dust situation. Is it bad with all that mesh side panel or it's acceptable? Really want to hear ur opinion cause i'm in love with this case.
@@luu_hainam Just like those mesh itx cases (I have the Meshlicious) I just wipe the panels once a month is actually enough, don't have to fiddle around any mesh filters
I havent really had it long enough to comment on the dust situation. The side pannels come off super easy so it should be quick and easy to dust the system as needed. I do put a cover over it when its not in use as well.
Very good to see this case coming out. Here in Brazil the mATX motherboards are always the best choice value wise and is what I recommend to my friends when they're building new PCs. Having that new case option to recommend will be really nice.
Yeah, we used to have the hx100 pichau. How is pretty much this case with some extra options. I hope this case or the Sky One Mini show up here in Brazil with a resonable price.
I am the only adopter of the ITX in my group of friends in Brazil and, damn, it's not only expensive but also really hard to find good components that fit into small computers. For example, paying 450 reais for the Cougar QBX is nuts compared that you could pay 260 in a Montech Air 100 that has way better construction. So, even though I use ITX myself, MATX is the best choice in Brazilian market by far.
@@Polesca Yeah I'm the only adopter of mini-ITX between my friends as well. It's not only really expensive but for several months now there's literally no new mini-ITX motherboards to buy.
@@VictorRomano, I've really wanted to upgrade to LGA1700, but a H610I wouldn't cut it. I hate my X470 GTN from BIOSTAR, easily the worst mobo I've touched, but it's all I have.
I'm so happy that more mATX cases are coming out. I love the smaller size of mATX, but ITX tends to costs as much if not more, and you lose a lot more IO, and I use up all my USB ports. Was needing to get a smaller case for a family member's computer, and wasn't wanting to have to buy them all new parts for an ITX build, so will definitely check this out.
I just finished my daughter's build in this case and loved it. Plenty of room. 360 aio is a snap to put in. I am running the max 6 fans and there is some vibration on the lower fans, but the rubber washers eliminate the vibration. Great review. I agree with everything you pointed out. Thanks.
I have one on my bench right now and I've successfully been able to invert the layout by drilling out the 15 rivets holding the rear panel and mobo tray. I had to trim a little bit of material off the rear panel to allow the rivets to align with the top of the case, as well as trimming the motherboard tray lip to accommodate the side panel press-mounts, but it actually works and I'm working on installing dual 360 rads in a custom loop. I was able to re-rivet the case back together and it's hard to tell that it didn't come that way. It's ridiculous how much fits in this case and I love it. Note: Jonsbo sells a variant (D31 Mesh) with a built-in monitor too!
I love matx! I went with the Fractal Define C. I build a pc for a clients podcast and decided to go matx. So many features! Boards with wifi are surprisingly hard to come by but they are priced way better than atx. I went with a 12700k for fast video editing (thanks to QuickSync) 1660 super for nvenc and an Elgato cam link pro to push all the dslrs into OBS
Literally just got done doing a Ryzen 7000/nVidia 4090 build in this case. It's fantastic for having a smaller footprint build without having a smashed shoebox feeling like some ITX builds. I'm very happy with it.
Finally this case is getting some good coverage. By far my favorite case I’ve used. Glad to see hc review this. Retail is $75 usd but I never see if for that price. I have the black and white versions and couldn’t find a issue other than limited cable management behind mobo tray. I’m t fits my xfx 7900xtx without issue as well. Great work!
@@sql64 removed stock prime fan and put 3x120mm and 2x140nm fans in. Temps have been great. Use a nzxt t120 on a 5800x3d and temps hit 72c gaming and 80c all core. Must be from the airflow from all sides of the case. I can’t recommend this case enough, dust doesn’t seem to be an issue but I use a blower on it every few weeks because I have one for building pcs. You won’t be disappointed with the case but I wouldn’t pay more than $100 for it imo
Love mATX, got Kolink Citadel Mesh RGB for both myself and my cousin. Compact, cheap ($55), front and top mesh, tempered glass door that can swing open for a quick clean, and include 3 RGB fans, clean and easy cable management as well.
Re-cased my build into this since I wasn't really using the extra stuff ATX gets me. I was trying to specifically avoid any glass at all. I love how RGB stuff looks peeking through the mesh.
I've been literally looking at this case for months and waiting for a big fish to review it. I decided to buy it yesterday and picked it up today in store and then I see this! Thank you for diving into it. I feel you about the psu mounting options and I think I might just take that weird cover off, but for my first matx case, I'm super stoked. Compared to my lian li mini - it's shorter, narrower but longer and I'm excited to move my stuff into its new home... eventually.
I have this case. It’s nice in terms of what you can put there. Building inside it is easy and fun. The only dust filter you get is in the bottom, so if you have a cat (like I do) be prepared to vacuum clean it at least once a week. However, case is great
This filmed was shot this year and you really used a 9600k to test temperatures? How using some modern cpu since they get way hotter? Lets see the 13700k or 14600k or even a 7000 series amd processor...
Another, similarly, prices case to look at in the mATX range is the Sama IM01 and IM02. They are basically larger NR200 cases in styling but they bring what is great about the NR200 to a MATX with no need for modding.
Got this case this year for my build. Absolutely LOVE IT! Have the white version with TG. Bottom 2 intakes, rear and 3 tops out. 13600K and RTX STRIX 3060Ti. Temps while gaming CPU 75-78C (Jonsbo HX6210) and GPU 55-62C. Love mATX format!
I‘m owning this case and I do have a really clean and powerful and quiet!!! build! This case is like the one with the perfect airflow optaining case. I have 2 120mm arctic 15mm height fans at the bottom and 2 arctic 140mm 25mm fans at the top plus 1 120mm arctic fan at the rear. I love it
Fractal should take note: When you are making a compact case, make sure the power supply is installed at the front or top! I rather have more GPU options to install the in the future than more AIO support for a compact case. I'm looking at you Define 7 Mini and Nano with your restricted GPU support for a front intake focused case.
Will you guys do a comparison video between the Asus Prime and the Jonsbo D31? These two cases are very similar to one another, and they have a similar price point, it would be interesting to see some professional opinions. Thanks!
i have pretty much always been a matx person, don't want a giant tower. Just moved my main rig into a fractal define 7 mini and i absolutely love it. The best front IO available on a matx case as well as nice sound reduction keeps the system whisper quiet and my pretty basic hardware is still nice and chill inside.
I did my build in the AP201 last month; it is amazing. Easy to build in, full size Sapphire Nitro 6700XT & full ATX modular PSU, everything fits great. And with the fans I put in, everything is very, very cool. *Great* case.👍
I really like this case layout. As compact as possible without having to compromise on price or performance. A decent selection of this type of cases on the market currently, compared to when I bought my Jonsbo UMX3, which was pretty much the only one with this layout, I could find at that time. The real challenge with these cases though is to find cpu cooler that can be rotated by 90° on AM4/AM5. So you could follow that vertical airflow properly.
4:18 The mounting supply bracket they should sell a sfx bracket but what I winded up doing was used my old nr200 sfx psu case to create more space for gpu and aio. It’s not a perfect fit so the latches on the nr200 psu cage needs to be warped slightly to fit in. But this enables 360 aio and a 40 series gpus to fit.
I got this case 3-4 months ago, and I honestly regret my choice. It is sooo long in comparison to standard tower dimensions. The only way you could place this behemoth is on top of the desk. I have a small cabient on the side of my setup which I usually use for placing my tower. The cabient has ventilation via 2x 140mm noctuas to pull the hot air out. The current setup is I had to break down the side of the first chamber so I could place the case along the length of the cabinet,
Thanks for the noise demo of the bottom fan option! I think many reviewers neglect to mention the noise aspect of the cases, which is very important for many people who need to keep those levels down to absolute minimum.
I just did my latest 13th gen build in this case. I completely agree with everything youve said, this case is flying under the radar, especially at the 75 bucks I picked it up at
Love the case. I would use a hole saw to cut the floor out from under the fans on the bottom. It leaves enough surround to still attach the screws. Plus that bottom filter still works for dust as you are going intake down there. Also you eliminate that whine and improve airflow. Easy mod!
I like mATX. It sacrifices some features, but still has plenty. Personally I'd love something weird that sits between matx and itx. Like all 4 ram slots, use a riser for the GPU and put it behind the mobo, and still fit a few low profile 1x or 4x cards.
I bought this case when I realized the H210i was too big for my build. It is really cool but I will say that dust accumulation is a thing. I'm glad it's getting noticed a bit more, maybe that way Asus starts selling accessories to change the PSU location or add a fan bracket or a glass side pannel. I will say, I'm pretty certain that the Lian Li O11 bracket for the upright GPU would fit on this case... But I wouldn't buy it to find out, really.
More ❤for mATX. For some reason it's the least released form factor, but the best imo. Compact yet 4 dimm slots. Always liked it the most. ATX is uneccessarly big and itx is to limited. Nice to see the power cord connector in the back being vertical, on NR200 its not, which ruins some fan/radiator configs.
I just built this case for someone. It easily fit a ATX PSU, mATX motherboard, 280mm AIO, 2x120mm fans, 2x 3.5inch HDDS and two 2.5inch SSDs along with a 6800XT. No problem at all :)
I bought a Corsair Air 240 5 years ago for £40 from OcUK Members Market. Loved it so much, I found and bought a 2nd one for my step-daughter a year later (now handed down to my son). Both are still being used , don't really see any point in changing as it's still great mATX case
Love this case. I just built my first pc and it looks great. My 3080ti fits perfectly and with all the fans installed, the space feels nice and full. My only issue is that the cable management doesn’t seem ideal.
ASUS AP201 is godlike. My 331mm 4090 fits perfectly with the middle PSU position, and the temps are similar to bequiet 500DX. I'm sure I can get them lower with a more aggressive bottom fan curve. AIO compatibility is better as well, even if Arctic's thick radiator makes me route the back fan perpendicular to PCI-E slots. Note that most new mATX boards have an M.2 slot above the x16 slot for GPU. It will be challenging to fit anything under a 3+ slot GPU with such layout, as the GPU effectively starts at the case's second slot. You can see the nano clearance that Kleo Yan has with a 2.5 slot GPU and Phanteks T30 fans when using an M.2 above x16 motherboard in this case. For AM5, the options where the x16 slot aligns with the case's first slot are: 1) ASROCK B650M PG Riptide (barebones) 2) ASUS PRIME B650M-A II (barebones) 3) Any GIGABYTE board (numerous coil whine reports) 4) ASUS X670E Crosshair ($600) 5) ITX boards The rule of thumb: if the middle mounting screws align with the x16 slot, then this is a motherboard with better GPU clearance (and inferior air cooler clearance)
@@kaijuTIVI I'm using 280, and top is the only possible placement in this case. With my ITX board, the top corner at the back toward the right panel is extremely stuffed even with tubes coming from the "front" end of the radiator. One of the AIO fans is pressing on the CPU cable to the point that I didn't use the radiator/fan screw there. Routing the back fan cable there would have been too much. I made it go perpendicular to PCI-E slots and into the nearest bottom cable hole to connect into a fan splitter along the outer wall of the right side panel.
I only use M-ATX for years now... for me the best size for computers at the moment... Also one of the best cases and not very loved is the TT Core V21... cheap and amazing for all around build.... Horizontal Board placement is the best for air cooling... Not so much tension on the air coolers and even for the gpu the vertical stand is way more stable and secure... It allows 1x200mm, 2x140 or 2x120 on the front, 1x140 on the back, and then on top you can get 2x120 + 2x140. Cons of that case... cheap built panels (mesh, or acrilic)... Not enough mesh filters (but it can be purchased from demciflex) only usb 3.0 ports on the sides. Go ahead purchase one and test it out...
TG would look weird; the 360 perforation looks clean and is the main feature of the case. The glow coming from your components but not being able to see them fully is kinda cool. If you want to see your goods I recommend the NR200 or a fractal case...
I got the black TG version. Its hella nice. I was able to stuff it with two T30 phantek fans , 3 arctic P12 fans, ROG AIO and b760 I mb , 13900k bracketed and a msi trio 4090 . With the glass closed the GPU hits 60ish max temps and cpu does 70ish max temps after hrs of CyberPunk at ultra settings. Its a great case with plenty of airflow and space but you MUST use a SFF power supply if youre going to run a 4090 or other card of similar size.
The fully square mesh patterns makes it seem very retro to me, as a lot of the old Dells used it. Having so much more of it, and in all white though, it gives it almost an architectural vibe rather than electronics.
I love Micro ATX! For me its the fact that I can have a smaller overall rig without compromising on obvious features like you sometimes do with ITX (like having four ram slots) the better airflow thru most mATX cases vs ITX SFF cases helps too
I just picked up this case from Micro and was wondering why no one was talking about, Holds everything my torrent did with a small bump in temps. Amazing case. Have not been this impressed in a while.
Two things missing from this review and case itself. For one, all of these holes should have been covered by dust filters to reduce its accumulation inside. And second, while you can move PSU bracket, if I recall correctly, you are limited by power cable flex when with 360 rad in the top, eg. you cannot orient the PSU intake towards the front on majority of PSUs, and moving lower would cut on GPU length support.
About freakin time! I have always loved m-ATX, and that is especially true now that most ATX boards barely have 3 expansion slots on them. I just don't get how most people don't find 4-5 slots to be perfect. It gives you 2 slots for a sensible GPU, a slot for a sound card, one for a RAID or capture card and maybe one more for anything else like expanded USB or WiFi/BT card. Now if we could just get some premium m-ATX motherboards again instead of all of them being budget boards now days. I still have multiple ASUS ROG GENE boards in use and they have more functionality than about any m-ATX board you can buy today.
When the modern GPUs are going for 3 - 4 slots that are over 350mm long, most Itx cases are pointles... it also has the advantage of a 360mm rad and full ATX PSU
I love mATX. It was my go to until everything seemed to go ITX or ATX with the odd eATX. I am glad it is back. I even have a decent mATX MoBo in mind. My next build, but my current one still has a lot of useful life left. Thanks for the vid!
just built a pc for my living room in this case with parts of facebook marketplace, for my first micro atx build it was a dream to build in, my 2060 super runs at 60c or lower and the processer never hits above 50c on a stock cooler, such a great value
4:30 this panel could be used to mount 3-4 SSDs (with making it cagy and with finding a proper position to not block a GPU fan; or with putting it closer to a PSU ). I don't believe Asus engineers ignored this option. At least we could try a double sided scotch tape
Another (really similar) case to consider would be the D31 from Jonsbo! The PSU shroud is a lot easier to remove than the AP201, with the case itself being extremely similar in terms of layout and design aside from the side panel being glass and not mesh. Also, for those who are looking for sensor panels, there is an option for a panel that attaches directly to the front of the case, and can be removed for external use as well.
I have a SAMA IM-01 and its main flaw is they didn't offset the bottom fan mounts, so the USB and front panel headers of a mATX mobo conflict with any non-slim fans mounted down there; the AP201 looks like it solves that, but at the expense of giving up the side fan/radiator bracket and flexible PSU cage (SAMA IM-01 is just a mATX clone of the NR200P, so it has the same PSU cage that can be mounted at the front or on the side).
Just ordered one of these for my workstation. It appears Asus did a great job with making an mATX case that has no glass and excellent airflow. Really looking forward to building in it!
The Cooler Master NR200P can support mATX motherboards with certain heights. I have a b450 mATX one installed in mine that barely fits. Saved me big time since ITX Boards are so expensive
i move my build into this case about 4 months ago and its awesome temps is good and its very spacious too and looks really clean currently i have 1 3.5 inch hdd + 1 2.5 inch ssd + 1 nvme and the 3.5 inch hdd is really a pain in the ass to install (mount it on the bottom beside 2 intake fans and you need to install the screw with the included anti vibration rubber mount on the inside so the screw can sit flat underneath the case) and for the 2.5 inch ssd no problem at all mounting it in the back of the motherboard
I had been looking at this for months... I am still wondering if I should have chosen it earlier this month... i chose ventroo M03😅🤷♂️ idk what was the right decision🤔
I'm packing this case wtih a Galax 4090 SG. I have about 3cm width and 2cm length to spare. My PSU is hiked to the top and the PSU length allows the GPU to tuck underneath. PSU is a Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1200W. I had to modify the 12+4 GPU connector by removing the glued heat shrink around the GPU side connector. It was too rigid and it wouldn't allow me to put the case side back on. I re-wrapped it with some electrical tape but at 90 deg. I went with this case because mATX is the smallest form factor to support 128gb ram, needed for modelling.
I am still rocking my Fractal Define Mini C with current specs. I just love the form factor if mAtx. Not too big, fills up the entire case with peripherals and 4 ram sticks.
mATX is my favorite and imo best firm factor. Modern PC's don't need to be so giant. It doesn't add any real value after a certain size. Matx gives u extra pcie slots, more space for ram slots, more space for good VRM's, and space for I/O on the back of the board. Perfect size to be compact without missing power.
I have a xtia proto L case that I don't plan in changing soon because it's an open frame almost anything will keep fiting on it for many years. But i gotta say this looks very nice
This case bests or ties with the Lian Li Lancool III and Fractal Torrent in terms of temperatures, when you pack it to the brim with fans. ASUS only gave you one fan, because they knew people would buy their own. I bought this right when it came to the US in September, 2022 and have loved it ever since!
I wish this was available a couple years back. It was a challenge trying to find a case that had a front or side facing power button along with USB-C. (Cats kept stepping on the top-facing power button on my old case. The few I could find were either >$200, or lacked the ventillation needed for a >500 watt system. So while I'm happy enough with the MetallicGear O11D knockoff, this would have been ideal.
I love M-ATX. Never understood why it gets neglected so much. This case looks pretty decent.
I can tell you the reason. The size difference between ATX and mATX mainboards is very small. So this could have been an ATX compatible case if it was just a few cm higher.

@@BenyaminLorit mainly because it's cheaper than ATX.
I refused to jump onto the Mini ITX craze and decided mATX was the better compromise of small footprint but still enough expansion available.
right? I only started to question my mATX when I saw that the 4 slot GPUs nowadays would actually have it kinda tight now in my NR400
Things that I love:
- No tools are needed to remove the outer plates.
- No stupid RGB lighting
- No unpractical glass doors that add weight but are just to show off your RGB lighting
- Mesh plates that help to ventilate the case
- It's long enough to fit a full-sized GPU (Zotac RTX 3080 in my case)
- USB-C port on the front panel
- Quite lightweight
- The price is pretty reasonable (Cost me about $80 USD)
Things that I didn't like (because of the mesh walls):
- The walls get dusty quite fast
- The noise level is probably higher than with more enclosed cases.
- RTX 4080 is too big for this case.
I gonna buy this case, can I ask you do you see any problems of this case ?
One more reason: there is a glass-side variant of this case too. Still have all of other sides being mesh so still ventilate enough :D
Using four $0.02 nylon washers as standoffs usually solves fan noise - I started doing this on all my builds as it also helps to isolate NVH.
ok
What is NVH?
Noise vibration harshness
It can help but a lot of the issue come from having the fan blades too close to the mesh. A spacer would be the best bet to quieten them down.
Thank you for the great review, this seems a nice case. The water cooling right on top of the PSU gives me anxiety though.
Hope to see more mATX cases in future 👍
I feel that they are the ideal form factor for the 'intermediate-tier' users, as they are essentially like ATX but without the additional PCI-e expansion slots.
I currently run a build in an NZXT H1 V2. It gets warm, but that's inherent to Ryzen 7000 processors. It's one of the best systems I've built yet.
@@ResidentWeevil2077 what gpu are you running?
@@arewealone9969 I actually switched CPUs since my previous comment to an i5-13400F paired with an Arc A770 LE 16GB card. The 7700X I still have was swapped into a black NZXT H1 V2 case and paired with an MSI RX 6750 XT Mech 2X 12GB card. Both rigs use 32GB DDR5 dual channel modules, though the Intel rig can only run at 4800MT/s; the AMD rig runs at 6000MT/s.
I bought the prime case about 6 weeks ago. Very pleased with it. Great cooling with negative pressure setup, and very quite.
I have placed the order for mine. is 3 fans setup as negative pressure enough for an air cooled build. cpu is i5 13500 and gpu is 3060ti.
I'm wondering about the dust situation. Is it bad with all that mesh side panel or it's acceptable? Really want to hear ur opinion cause i'm in love with this case.
@@luu_hainam i am planning on clear taping the rear panel fully, and some spots to reduce this.
It's not only really expensive but for several months now there's literally no new mini-ITX motherboards to buy.
yeah but cases very hardly are exported/imported....so we're stuck with very limited choices
Note: Jonsbo sells a variant (D31 Mesh) with a built-in monitor too!
sick, would you post a quick video showing the build?
@@zephyr.r I'm in the process but YES, I'm documenting it for my channel and I'll note when it's up.
@@zephyr.r I put a quick community post on my channel with pics of the dry fit process and some notes on making it work.
Great work!
did u add any extra fans and how are the temps and dust
@@sql64 removed stock prime fan and put 3x120mm and 2x140nm fans in. Temps have been great. Use a nzxt t120 on a 5800x3d and temps hit 72c gaming and 80c all core. Must be from the airflow from all sides of the case. I can’t recommend this case enough, dust doesn’t seem to be an issue but I use a blower on it every few weeks because I have one for building pcs. You won’t be disappointed with the case but I wouldn’t pay more than $100 for it imo
You can mount the ssds on the back side behind the mobo.
Compared to my lian li mini - it's shorter, narrower but longer and I'm excited to move my stuff into its new home... eventually.
Please review the Jonsbo D31. It addresses some of the issues you have with this case!
Will always build with Matx whenever possible. Love my current setup and will continue this as long as I can. Might check this case out
you can try the jonsbo d31, same formation, but the d31's psu cover will not let you down
Got this last month as my first build. Been smiling everyday ever since!
Another, similarly, prices case to look at in the mATX range is the Sama IM01 and IM02. They are basically larger NR200 cases in styling but they bring what is great about the NR200 to a MATX with no need for modding.
Can u do a review about the Jonsbo D41 please? It does have a mesh panel with a configurable screen, matx designs and also super sleek looking
Thanks!
Been using this case for 5 months now and this is the best case I ever had in a matx category
i have pretty much always been a matx person, don't want a giant tower. Just moved my main rig into a fractal define 7 mini and i absolutely love it. The best front IO available on a matx case as well as nice sound reduction keeps the system whisper quiet and my pretty basic hardware is still nice and chill inside.
Nice case, we need more of these. Like the IM-1 pocket (IM-01 SAMA, Tecware Fusion) thi sis a nice case as well for small powerful systems.
I really hope we get more mATX cases in the future that get as much attention as the other two form factors.
I did my build in the AP201 last month; it is amazing. Easy to build in, full size Sapphire Nitro 6700XT & full ATX modular PSU, everything fits great. And with the fans I put in, everything is very, very cool. *Great* case.👍
I love m-ATX because you can get a new b450 for >55€ without effort while still being „small form factor“. ITX is a budget killer
Matx has always been my favourite, boards are cheap, compact enough, they’re just the happy medium!
I just did my latest 13th gen build in this case. I completely agree with everything youve said, this case is flying under the radar, especially at the 75 bucks I picked it up at
An absolute steal. I can’t imagine a case being easier to build in. And it looks so nice
Out of curiosity, what PSU do you have and how long is your GPU. I'm trying (and failing) to wrap my head around the fitting situation there.
Basically a mesh version of the Jonsbo i100 right?
Jonsbo D31 looks very similar but with a display on front panel.
Im using this case for my 4090 / 13700k build. And I love how compact it is
4090 fits in that.
how long is your GPU?
For AM5, the options where the x16 slot aligns with the case's first slot are:
1) ASROCK B650M PG Riptide (barebones)
2) ASUS PRIME B650M-A II (barebones)
3) Any GIGABYTE board (numerous coil whine reports)
4) ASUS X670E Crosshair ($600)
5) ITX boards
The rule of thumb: if the middle mounting screws align with the x16 slot, then this is a motherboard with better GPU clearance (and inferior air cooler clearance)
Which Arctic AIO are you using? And which side is it mounted?
@@kaijuTIVI I'm using 280, and top is the only possible placement in this case. With my ITX board, the top corner at the back toward the right panel is extremely stuffed even with tubes coming from the "front" end of the radiator. One of the AIO fans is pressing on the CPU cable to the point that I didn't use the radiator/fan screw there.
Routing the back fan cable there would have been too much. I made it go perpendicular to PCI-E slots and into the nearest bottom cable hole to connect into a fan splitter along the outer wall of the right side panel.
totally wish NZXT made a mATX Case. The more compact form factor would fit so well with their minimalistic and clean designs
H400. I have one. Passed it down to my brother. I'm buying this instead.
I want to find a way to display pixel art through the square mesh. That would be so awesome.

I just upgraded from an itx system in a Ghost S1 to an mATX system in one of these and I love it.
Yeah no temp. glass. Case looks Great thanks for the vid. You Rock.
wow... this is only 1 of 2 tech channels i still follow... (thumbs up)
About freakin time!
Information from an owner: you can fit one 3.5 and 2 2.5 hdd to this case while using 2 bottom fans.
I love mATX. It was my go to until everything seemed to go ITX or ATX with the odd eATX. I am glad it is back. I even have a decent mATX MoBo in mind. My next build, but my current one still has a lot of useful life left. Thanks for the vid!
I bought mine second hand (review unit) for only $40 and I absolutely love this case!
just built a pc for my living room in this case with parts of facebook marketplace, for my first micro atx build it was a dream to build in, my 2060 super runs at 60c or lower and the processer never hits above 50c on a stock cooler, such a great value
D30 as well! The older one looks just as nice as the new D31
Absolutely - heard good things about some Jonsbo cases
Have an matx build in my Azon cart but could not decide on a case or color. I think this case in white with the glass side is the winner, Thanks!
I have been eyeballing the Jonsbo D31 mesh with lcd screen. Very similar to the prime.
I found this case on youtube weeks ago and end up I build my new pc in it, LOVE it so much
I have a SAMA IM-01 and its main flaw is they didn't offset the bottom fan mounts, so the USB and front panel headers of a mATX mobo conflict with any non-slim fans mounted down there; the AP201 looks like it solves that, but at the expense of giving up the side fan/radiator bracket and flexible PSU cage (SAMA IM-01 is just a mATX clone of the NR200P, so it has the same PSU cage that can be mounted at the front or on the side).
Oh wow! Simple, and somewhat aesthetic. If the temps are cool, I'd probably down for this.
Had to buy this for a new build for my friend and this video really sold it for me! Thank you! The fit and finish is incredible in person!
Just ordered one of these for my workstation. It appears Asus did a great job with making an mATX case that has no glass and excellent airflow. Really looking forward to building in it!
Yo, I got the same Lego Jeep Wrangler with me man.❤️
That last B-roll shot of the lighting piercing through the perforated holes is a beauty. IMO forget TG.
I actually really like the design and the glow of the Lit components through the mesh in the dark, its definitely a nice understated touch.
I love everything about this case, especially the mash, no window, and gpu clearance, but the psu blocking the intake is a deal breaker for me
The Cooler Master NR200P can support mATX motherboards with certain heights. I have a b450 mATX one installed in mine that barely fits. Saved me big time since ITX Boards are so expensive
i move my build into this case about 4 months ago and its awesome
temps is good and its very spacious too and looks really clean
currently i have 1 3.5 inch hdd + 1 2.5 inch ssd + 1 nvme and the 3.5 inch hdd is really a pain in the ass to install (mount it on the bottom beside 2 intake fans and you need to install the screw with the included anti vibration rubber mount on the inside so the screw can sit flat underneath the case) and for the 2.5 inch ssd no problem at all mounting it in the back of the motherboard
I had been looking at this for months... I am still wondering if I should have chosen it earlier this month... i chose ventroo M03😅🤷♂️ idk what was the right decision🤔
I bought this case last year on Black Friday when I built my PC, I have a 5800x3d and 6950 xt in there and the temps are very good. I like it a lot!
I went with this case because mATX is the smallest form factor to support 128gb ram, needed for modelling.
just picked up up and its awesome. perfect size, small footprint without being too difficult to build in
I am still rocking my Fractal Define Mini C with current specs. I just love the form factor if mAtx. Not too big, fills up the entire case with peripherals and 4 ram sticks.
I've been looking at this case for the longest time and I'm glad it's finally getting attention.
mATX is my favorite and imo best firm factor.
Please Dimitri!, do a review of the new Jonsbo TK-1, you must to see!!!
