This was from the era when Stevie was untouchable, magical, in his prime, cemented his place as a legend. This is a fine example of his deep, rich genius.
I recall hearing this song at family house parties, just in passing as a kid back in the 70s, really never paying attention to the lyrics. I was going through a very deep depression in the mid 90s, was thinking about taking my life at the time. One night I was having very dark thoughts, going through emotions. I decided to turn on the radio, this song was on, the mid instrumental part was playing. I had never really listen to the long version of this masterpiece up until that night. But starting @3:48, when he got to this verse, it literally stop me in my tracks! It was just so very deep! Thank you Mr. Stevie Wonder for literally saving my life.

Unknown fact. When Steve took a break recording this album at the Record Plant in West Hollywood, he’d come next door for a steak at Chuck’s Steakhouse. I was so happy to cook his steak and cut it in manageable pieces for him. I was about 19. Love that guy! Listen to what he gave us!

I just lost my baby girl Zaya, she was born 19 weeks too early due to complications. I love this song and it’s description of the deepest love. I already felt it for my baby. I agree with you 100 percent, and there was another creative Masterpiece that Stevie Wonder did called, 'Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants'. Stevie was showing a side of himself that many did not know existed in the latter album, and I think many did not receive it quite well, but it is Album everyone needs to listen to. It is like a symphony and has some of the most wonderful songs on it. What what the music world be without this musical Genius called Stevie Wonder. They way the world is in this day and time, his music has kept my spirits high. So thank you Stevie Wonder for all your contributions to music!!!!

The first time I heard this song , I was 6 YO in hospital, and I had been diagnosed with cáncer. I used to play this song while having my chemotherapy. The song never lessened the pain, but it did bring me some comfort. Meanwhile, my parents where in a car accident...my mother was killed and daddy is now paralised. Now, 15 years later, I survived and my father is still paralised, but we've created a new dance with these song, called ' head and ears'. Sometimes I also put some sunglasses on my dad so he looks like stevie wonder... He really enjoys it !!!
