I love how you stabilize your standing position and I have started doing this myself (and it looks cool). I also check and adjust my skates prior to putting them on. From there I do my stretching and bending at the barre (actually it is a carpeted 1/2 wall). Then I put my chin up, make my snacks tight, arm’s out, my butt (fun zone) down, and I very confidently roll out onto the floor. I feel so, so good and I am getting stronger, and better every day. I practice about 4 times a week. I love to skate. Plus I now work at a rink in the snack bar so free skating! Thank you - Song skating again and looking good at 75
I teach women's beginner skate every Monday over here in Houston, Texas and i come here when I need extra lessons 😂🙏🛼❤️ Thank you Debbie! I refer skaters to you all the time! 😊
OMG!💃🏾 This is my inspirational video! I'm striving to perform this routine by the end of 2024. I'm taking everything in, practicing all the moves and I will execute this routine! I have put it in the atmosphere and it shall be done! Thank you Dirty!❤️
Oh awesome. I have a huge outdoor skate rink in my development. I have been practicing your drills and within a week, I'm getting my game on. I can't wait to try this routine. Thank you Dirty Deb!!!
I LOVE YOU Dirty! You are such an inspiration for me! 6 weeks ago, I was a total beginner. I have been working through your lessons and now I can do all 6 of them! You are the best roller skating teacher out there on RUclips by the way!! Can’t wait to start figure skating journey. By the way I am 38❤️💋😘👏
Wow, I can watch that all day. An absolute master in motion. Many thanks for sharing, that will give me a lot of great things to practice. Think I'll need to get my transitions and cross pulls tighter to look as smooth as that. Such fun ahead.
This is golden Ms. Debbie ! I can't do everything right now that is in the video, but it surely gives me so much to work with and direction of what to practice in an order. Saving this in my playlist for sure because like many of your videos I have to watch them over and over. Thank you so much !!!!
Hello from India. My daughter Naira is a huge fan of you and only watching your videos, without any actual training she has learnt to skate beautifully and enjoys it. Wishing you loads of power. Keep up the good work.
Please keep figure skating videos coming!!!! So hard to find videos covering figure roller skating. I have to use ice skating and I’m loving this video!!! Thanks so much!!! Even points of how to start competing would be great! ❤❤❤
Deborah's very good idea of how to walk with one leg crossed with the other. The turn you can take in a last step where you turn around and walk backwards. All these exercises of yours that you present here help me a lot to improve my way of skating.
I love your energy so much! You are absolutely wonderful and I am going to practice these techniques at my own pace. I will tag you for sure in my video.
You're amazing! As an advanced skater who skates and coaches roller derby and used to skate artistic roller, your instructions are on point and better than most coaches I've had. I'm watching because the way you explain things is really helpful for me as a coach to break it down and explain it to beginner skaters or new skaters. Additionally, you're skating is very pretty and flows really well. I imagine you were a former artistic roller skater?
I'm a figure skater and I can do these things on ice, but it's so awesome seeing someone do this on roller skates 😊I want to start skating off ice since it's so expensive!
Loved this! Thank you for doing this, my daughter and I are going to try this! This helped so much to put together our skills and give us a pretty routine❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Two years ago I skates to salema perz the one who got shot. This year we are doing a Christmas ice show and I'm in the cast . Can't wait for showtime. Hopefully rainbow riders in size 10 will be available soon.
I know everyone learns at different speeds, but how long realistically should it take to learn if I’m only a month into skating, but I have the fundamentals down pretty solid… just looking for a baseline!!! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! Please don’t stop you are so inspiring and engaging. I’m so happy you’re on here showing us all the “good stuff” 🛼❤️
This is so graceful 😍 Hi Deb! I'm from India and I learned how to skate watching your videos 🙏🏽. They helped me so much and gained a ton of confidence. No one my age seems to skate here though 😋 seems like it's still a kids sport, But routines like this is such a fun thing. Please can you make more of these videos. I love figure skating. Thank you 😃❤️
Thank you for your video! I'm just getting into figure skating at 51 years old. Our skating team does a Christmas show every year. The last couple of years, I watched the other skaters because I never joined the team. This year, I am performing. I am doing Blue Moves to Mr. Grinch with the boys who are doing blue moves. I am going to use your routine as a guide to what I'm going to do! Thanks!
Deb this is a really cool video. One element of the routine I particularly liked (and have been wanting to add into my own skating in general) is the way you flow from normal skating into a spin & then flow back into normal skating (in the version where you show the alternate). Do you have any tutorials on this facet of spins - how to chain them with normal skating & make them look elegant? Thanks
This looks like fun to try! Ill learn it this spring when it warms up again and I have an iPad to look at to learn this. I guess Ill have to do this the other way since I jump/spin counter clockwise/left?
Thank you for sharing ! I can do most of the moves isolated. Putting everything together while mastering the direction and without hesitation is another story. So it will be a good challenge for me. What's the level if this routine ?
So you saw me doing the toe spin and thought "that ain't happening", you can do a two foot spin! Me: sooo... About that... That ain't happening either 😬
I can do about 5% of these moves. But I still watched to the end like I’m going to go out tomorrow and waltz jump/toe spin my way across the tennis court.
OMG - 1st - 2nd Bronze FS Bar Routine! (sorry to date us Dirty!). Love you - love the routine! I think you did all the beginning poses (I'm thinking several of our male FS friends is pose #2).
I love it! Thank you for this routine, I'm going to start practicing and learn to do these drills. Love, all the way from Dominican Republic, God bless 💗
When I skate, I skate left-handed and right-handed for very particular things. And it's really annoying when it comes to things like this. For instance: my spread eagles are left-handed, but my spins are right handed.. So I'll always have to see and figure out which side I want to do, and adjust one of the two haha. I think it has to do with my hand&legs being dominant on the right, however my left eye is my dominant eye. So my eyes often want to turn or spin in another direction as my body.
This is so cool! Thank you so much Dirty! Can someone help me find the playlist she mentions at around 2:20? I can't seem to find it in the description.
Omg I didn't realise until now that you are goofy (not sure it's the right word for quad skates ) I also skate goofy and always think that "I need to swap the legs" but not with you! Yay🎉🎉
Love this routine, this vid, as always, Dirty you make the best instruction & encouragement video's! I have a little suggestion; people who are prone to epileptic attacks or just easily sensoric overstimulation (like myself) might find the video's easier to watch without the disco lights.. This one is not so bad, last tutorial at Pidgeon's place i could'nt watch. OC I know this is special request, prolly for a very small group of your target audience and so maybe too big ask, if so that's okay too! But I thought I'ld at least mention it. Skating helps my brain cope with a lot of stimuli without flipping, so ima do some right now 😀🥳✌
You are such a inspiration Dirty (love your name!) and a gorgeous GLAMAZON 💖. I'm learning a lot from watching your videos... thank you "skate sista" x!
Thank you so much for this!! Looks so good and I think practicing this is ginna level up my flow :) You're the best! Would you be able to do an in depth tutorial on a heel-toe spin? I have trouble keeping my axis aligned and always throw off my spin when I raise my hands above my head. Thanks again for your tutorials, you explain things so well, couldn't have learned without you!
I love this and am totally going to try it. I have question though, you said that you're a left handed skater (which I am too) but you did your 3 turn and toe spin on your right foot, is this standard or are you mixing up to keep the routine clockwise?
As long as I am turning to the right (clockwise), I am skating "left-handed". I can do these moves in both directions but left is clockwise and right is counter.
Deb, do you think I would be able to do this outdoors? I can do pretty much everything except the toe spin, and I only ever skate in parks since I don't have a local roller rink. I have moxi lollies with radar energy wheels (maybe the wheels are too sticky for spins?) Much love from the UK xx
Hi! I love u dirty, I have a question, Is it possible to do a 3 turn with gummy wheels? I have radar energy 78a 57mm and skate in not so nice concrete. Thank you, love from 🇲🇽
Debbie I used to be an avid skater but bilateral hip arthritis and COVID have slowed me down. My legs are so weak that I cannot get up by myself if I fall. Any tips on what to work on to strenghten my legs? My legs won't bend to the 90 degree angle you showed in your other videos on how to get up. Please help...
@@Dirtydeborahharry Debbie, I appreciate your honesty. I'm working on getting my legs stronger. I look forward to being able to come to your city one day and take as many lessons that I can from you in a two-week "vacation" period. Keep doing what you do. You are an inspiration!
Ooh, Hit Me Baby One More Time! Comin' in hot for that Waltz Jump, again! Why am I having a hard time!? I keep wanting to reverse it! LOL!!! Oops, I've done it again! I've done it for many years. This isn't brain science! Do you remember our conversations over the three years, about, "Bringing it back to the basics"!? Yeah, You've actually helped me to do just that. Do you know why? Because, I'm sure as you guessed it, I have skated right-handed, ever since the dawn of time. Because, I was raised to believe that I was right-handed. However, I can tell you, I completely understand as an adult, why I sucked at sports in my youth. I never, never, never thought to try it left-handed, because I was raised to believe, that I was right-handed, so I figured I would never play sports athletically (aka seriously) in school, hence why I studied business, travel and tourism, music and foreign language. So, when the coach would ask, or direct everyone, "everyone that's right-handed, you will go to the right. Everyone that is left-handed, you will go to the left." The coach never really asked or assessed anyone's ability. It was just assumed, that everyone knew who and what they where. 25 years out of high school, I realized, hey, I can write with my left hand. And it wasn't like I had to sit there and think about it, or fight my hand. I just did it. I only remember once ever (in first grade) being asked by a school lunch lady if I was left-handed, because I would always raise my left hand when asked a question. The teacher corrected her and said that I was right-handed. That was the end of my discovering if I was left or right-handed. I'm most likely ambidextrous, according to my own self diagnosis! Which is why, when studying music, I have no issues of the left hand wanting to follow the right hand. Again, my own self diagnosis here. So, how does all this relate to you!? Well, having skated all my life, right-handed, I've brought it all back to the basics, by following your steps of skating left-handedness, and being a Virgo, following your every move to a "T"! However, this Waltz-Jump, is becoming my Waltz-Bump... speed-bump that is! I'm trying to leave on the wrong foot, because of how I'm used to leaving the ground, and wanting to land on the right foot. I keep trying it backwards. Or should I say, I feel like it's backwards to me!? On a side note, my wife who is a lefty, asked me, to try batting left-handed when playing with our son. That was the first time I ever felt normal playing baseball. Whenever I would try batting right-handed, I would miss the ball 65% of the time, because something was off, I just could never put my hand on it (pun intended)! 🙂 However, when I started golfing, I started golfing right-handed, so golfing left-handed seems a little awkward, lining up. When we started working on our home repairs, I found that hammering left-handed, which I never did before I was married, also felt more like an ah-ha moment! That's why I'm self diagnosing as ambidextrous. So, now, that I'm trying this routine for the 100th time! I can finally, say that I feel ass-backward, trying it the way you do it. But I'm not giving up, because as I tell my son, we can only become better people, by bringing it back to the basics, to shred it up, eat it and re-digest it to be a better person! Sure, I could do this, by doing this all right-handed. But, what's the point of being boring!? I've done that for over 20+ years. Now, it's time to put a different spin (again, pun intended) on it! 🙂You know what's great!? I have done this for many years on ice skates, that when I'm doing this on roller skates, it's like roller derby (or so other derby players have told me) when a player changes their name for the sake of derby, it gives them a different outlook of who they can be, from who they ordinarily are (like a sense of identity change). with the different discipline (from blades to wheels) here, I can change my game up by changing how I begin routines (right to left-handed), and change that misconceived notion of "you're right-handed and nothing else!" to being "your ambidextrous and nothing shall hold you back!" Okay, okay, okay! Sorry again for the long novel! I'm just letting you know that I am practicing, and I am taking it seriously! LOL!!! Just one more thing! I was telling my wife that I have currently (from 2020 -2023) spent over $560 combined, on my wheels alone, if I had to replace them today. That's not even including the fees, if I were to be going up for competitions, because that's not even the cost of my skates, toe-stops, bearings. That's not even the pro-skate or the outfits or the dues or anything. That's just for my own pure enjoyment and love of the sport! So, it makes you realize that all these wonderful athletes that are going all out on the sport, need the contributions and support from their communities, and why they are so cut-throat when competitions are at stake. They are trying to re-coup some of their losses. Shall we bring up Tanya Har... Okay, never mind, I digress! This sport is not like Pro-football or Pro-basketball. It used to be like playing college football or basketball, but even they're getting paid now. So, this sport needs to be able to join with a college level, instead of the athlete putting up all their income for the love of their sport. OMG, I am just on a rant here! Just tell me to leave and get my own channel running already! LOL!!! Anyway, the point here, is to always, always, always bring it back to the basics, NEVER give up, rip it up, eat it, digest it again, and be a better person!
What a great read!!!! Amazing how common it STILL is to have instruction done only right-handed. As teachers, we need to teach both ways. It is not difficult. I love that you are making so many discoveries. What an incredible journey 👏
My 7 told is learning this dance at the minute after doing her first competition last weekend and took 1st and 2nd place

This looks like fun to try! Ill learn it this spring when it warms up again and I have an iPad to look at to learn this. I guess Ill have to do this the other way since I jump/spin counter clockwise/left?
Counter is what the vast majority of people do. Practice all these moves off skates and you will be ready by spring for sure!
