- A monk from a Shaolin Temple in southeast China' s Fujian Province recently ran across the surface of a water reservoir for a total distance of 118 meters on Sunday. Footage of his amazing performance went viral shortly thereafter.

I don't think it's the "running on water" bit they were originally trying to show, but the stamina it takes to keep balance and maintain enough speed to go fast enough that you dont sink while standing on a plank.

It's not about the forward speed. This is a case, where you need to have a high speed of your feet stomping on those boards. If you want, you can try to stand in one place, but you have to move your feet fast enough to keep you over water.
If you look carefully, u can see wooden boards on the water.
