I used to deliver furniture for a pretty big company a few years back. Most of us were full time employees, but there were a few contractors who would load up in the same DC with the rest of us. They were there every week just like us, and all around pretty good guys. When we had our Christmas party they took and fed us a big spread of bbq and sides with desert and honestly it was pretty good. But not the contractors. They had to leave the warehouse and got the door locked behind them. Always thought that was messed up. They had a driver appreciation week where the sales team fed us and thanked us for being the backbone of the company and all that bullshit. I even got an email from one of those sales people to personally thank me for all that I did, which I thought was pretty nice. Right up until I got the exact same, word for word, email from a different sales person later that week. Feels good to be appreciated lol.
Contractors are always treated as sub-humans by corporations and it makes absolutely no sense. They don't have to deal with employing someone and managing all the problems that go along with it. They only have to deal with one expense line item and it's usually completed on time.
@markm0000 yup. Whats even worse is when companies push that label in you so that they can pay you crap and not do taxes. Last I checked contractors dictate their pay
