Greetings from Turkey. Thank you for your wonderful demo of Jody jazz hard rubber tenor sax mouthpiece. They are really easy to blow and has a good tone. Your playing saxophone is very nice. Congratulations.
Jason I watch a lot of mouthpiece reviews and that’s my biggest gripe. Most reviews just “play freely”, but many of us play different styles and need different mouthpieces for different things. I play the Jumbo Java because I mostly do R&B, POP stuff with the occasional jazz gig. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
@@bluessax5089 I'm a beginner (only took 3 lessons and sax has been gathering dust for three years), so it really helps hearing the qualities of the mouth piece when shopping around for something new/different. The typical advice I get is, "Go to the store and play each mouthpiece", when I can't play anything. Reviews like these allow me to hear the actual sound profile and match it to the idea I have in my head of what I want my sound to be--without having to blindly shell out $120-200 bucks for it first. I have a Java 35 and a Jumbo Java 35 right now, but I like trying out new toys.
Shopping around is definitely the number one way to go. I live on an island so it’s hard for me to try out different pieces without first buying them. Fortunately Jody Espina Sent me some pieces to try out, but I have to send them back. LOL. I do think the standard Jodyjazz hard rubber is a wonderful all around piece
Thanks for asking! The Jody jazz hard rubber is so great for everything, but most of the music I play is with instruments that are highly amplified. The vandoren jumbo Java is like the best of both worlds, because it really cuts through tremendously while also it is hard rubber. I fell in love with it instantly
Beautiful playing. I'm considering either a Jody Jazz HR* 5 or 6 for jazz. I currently play on a Yamaha 4C and have been vigorously practicing for 6 months. I'm after a big bright jazzy sound. What would you recommend? Thank you.
Hmmm 🤔, There is no sure fire answer, but I would definitely recommend that JodyJazz HR 6 you mentioned. That is probably the best all-around mouthpiece I’ve ever played! It is great for every style. I am currently using the jumbo Java T75 because it has a high baffle and I am going for more of a rock sound even though I play all styles. Please let me know if you have any more questions or comments, happy to give my two cents
@@bluessax5089 Thank you so much! Between the 5 and 6, which is brighter and 'easier' to play, since i just have a Yamaha 4C now? All the Jody Jazz mouthpieces seem to be amazing. I'm psyched to get one.
The HR * is a really free blowing mouthpiece and the 6 could give you more flexibility then the 5 but sound is like 95% the player and the rest is what you play.

Thank you so very much for your kind remarks. I hope you enjoy.
Thank you so much for playing in so many different styles! Not enough mouthpiece reviews do this!

Great review! You have a great knowledge of the roots of tenor sound!!!!!
Man, you’re far too kind. I appreciate that big-time.
👏👏👏👏
Great player, great demo!
Thanks so very much!
@@bluessax5089 of course! Do you remember by any chance what reed you were using on this piece in the video?
Wonderful demo, thanks for sharing.
No sweat! It’s a great great mouthpiece
What is that music in the beginning? 😁😆
That’s actually music from my album “Jason Gay Dynasty” available on iTunes. ✌🏽
Nice playing!
Thanks so much!
Why did you stop playing this piece and what are you playing now?

I also did a review of the mouthpiece that I play now. I think you should be able to hear the difference
Lol @Coming To America reference!
thanks for checking it out! what else could i do?? ;D
Hey Dude, which reed you used in review?
Are use D’Addario Jazz Select 3 Med filed. Somehow after quarantining for so long I am now playing a four medium.

I would probably go with a 6 but it’s hard to say without hearing you. Size 6 is just more common.
