Let's take a look at the updated Audi Q8 because recently Mercedes GLE and BMW X5 have been updated. Can Audi say something about this? What have they done? Let's take a look with Thomas and Autogefühl in 4K, full screen, full length. Let's go! Here with an updated front grille. When you have the S line, you have these L forms here in the front grille, everything with more black design, especially if you have the optional Black Package, which this vehicle is also equipped with. The standard front grille would have more vertical fins on the inside.

@@zoid9969or maybe they do! I for one insist on real, top quality leather and not cloth or cloth alternatives. Personal preference and there’s more than enough leather available from various natural sources.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment.
You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at ruclips.net/video/S1aNZeoatmE/видео.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable.

In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse?
We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

Audi seriously needs a major update for all of its product lines.
I know right, brand new 5-series and E-class before even a facelift for the A6... although I love the looks of the A6 as it is
they also need major update of interior.

None of the German manufacturers are updating their SUVs very much. The GLE has some new headlights. The X5 has changed the most but it wasn’t really that much.

I honestly prefer the more 3D headlight and tail light DRL design in our 2020 Q8 Prestige than these new oleds. No custom config here is better than the outgoing design; I bet the new one is cheaper to produce.😉
As for color, I’m not digging this Afrika Kor reunion camo…. much prefer my Galaxy Blue with large metal flake, or as I call it, “Pete Blue”.😜
My wife is in love with “her” Q8, so hopefully it will not be cancelled soon for the all eTron EV models, we will need a new one in about 2 years.😃

Audi people always won in the department of making SUVs and Tourings look good. They just have those fat backs with fat tires that's unique to them.
The Porsche Caymans try to do it too, but Audi still reigns supreme.
Exterior - YES. Interior - NO. The glossy black dash panel is AWFUL. Sunlight reflects into your eyes, screens look cheap and smudge-prone. Fingerprint-magnet galore. The previous GEN interiors were MUCH BETTER.

Interesting, the lane keeping on my 2021 SQ8 is not reliable and i seldom use it, however i still really like the car-- thanks to your review of it i went out and purchased one if Feb of last year. 👍👍 i have been averaging 18 mpg with mine in mixed driving by the way!

currently own a hybrid Q8 and love it but had so many software problems. The lack of hybrid any more has made me jump ship and order a Cayenne S Hybrid, more expensive but better for me.

Not really; The battery will last longer, i wont have all the software problems, i will have 4 wheel steering. I love my Q8 but i have driven both and the Porsche definitely drives smaller and is a lot faster. @@sp13kaipar
I would have loved to see an updated interior. Still the 5 years old look.
This interior is ahead of its time…took other 2 years to catch up, but they have the lousy lazy design “surfboard” stuck on screens. IMO, nothing modern there. I am not an all touchscreen (BS) fan, I like a mix of buttons for key controls like in my RS5, but this is the best performing all screen (BS) design I’ve used.

cant wait for audi to refresh this interior generation because since it launched on the a8 a few years ago i hated this huge glossy panel on the dash, so boring so hard to keep clean and nice looking, would have been so much better if they offered different trim in its place like wood or fabric etc, anything else but glossy plastic

i like the look of this exact vehicle.... latte caffee and black everything.... 5:27 i thought it would show side cameras picture like kia/hyundai.... :( 6:30 i said it x times even with q7... so huge cars with almost NO storage space for passengers in the front.... really shame. i love those seats and the materials used.... suede and leather only on the sides.
I wish audi made a Q10 with the same interior as the A8. The Q8 is basically just a lifted A6.

Not my cup of tea. Bulletproof but such underwhelming styling. Cold, dark, dreary with few contrasting textures. Like many (but not all) Audis. Great review Thomas.❤

Hmm is the RSQ8 discontinued?
I don't feel this facelift is a step forward especially for exterior look. Somehow, the car doesn't look as aggressive as it was in my opinion. This class should present more sportness i guess yet this facelift made it look more formal as if it is premium luxury wehicle but not sporty. Front look, that black things covering the grill shouldnt have been extended to down side of the headlights. it looks cheap by this way.
I love Audi thats why i am a little bit dissapointed about new exterior look.
It's very surprising how they managed to decide to come out with a worse looking product.
Those new Audi grills look so cheap and plasticky. Like their only purpose is to hide the ugly glossy black sensors. I miss the horizontal lines metal grills of the 2015-2020 era, they were so much nicer
