- Taking a trip from Toronto to Dundas Hamilton, see if it's the best city in Canada to live. Checking out the real estate, parks, nature trails and waterfalls. How are the grocery stores? Not everyone loves Hamilton, they warn of the downtown, but Dundas seems really nice! Travel vlog in Hamilton Ontario Canada.

as a born and raised Hamiltonian I will set a few things straight
1) Hamiltonians LOVE Hamilton, like alot. We love it because we feel the chip on our should of being "Not Toronto." Toronto has a film festival? we have a bar crawl that is a WAY bigger event. We've always been the little brother and kind of like it that way.
2) you ALWAYS know who the out of towners are when they're confused where the waterfalls are....its not *where* they are its *when* they are. Balls Falls in March/April = Amazing, June/July = giant rock face.
3) fun fact about that last grocery store. Fortinos on Rifle Range is across from a Candy factory (you can see it when he's showing the escarpment), it smells SO good there in late spring at the HS across the street. That smell reminds me of soccer tryouts
Would like to see VP to have small house with own land growing vegetables and having chicken.
Absolutely!
@@joebauers3746 200$/year for chicken? is it a joke? if not, is that in whole canada?
Hell yeah
Quiet, boring towns are great. Decent grocery store there as well!
Moved to Hamilton 5 years ago, never thought I'd stay here. I love it here on the mountain, I literally have a big waterfall I can go see two streets behind me! It's literally a 3 minute walk where I can go over to the side of the road and look over the ledge and see a waterfall.
I legit jumped when that mouse jumped out at that closed trail
Apart from the huge price increase, the only difference between the organic and non-organic veg is that they sprinkle a tsp of soil over the former just before packaging it up.
Ahhh you'll love it here. There are lots of accessible trails/things to do and see in Hamilton. Dundas also has lots of speciality shops for organic products on the downtown strip :)
I agree, Dundas is a nice quiet little town. I would live there if I weren't already established in Cambridge. Good luck to you both!🍀
A house, a car, a garden and chickens.
Adulting is a good thing. Wishing you guys the best.
EXACTLY !
And some babies!
@@adm58 Absolutely 💯
Adulting, haha, love it!😅
@@adm58 Just in time for the climate apocalypse.
Omg I’m so happy you are thinking of living in Dundas it is amazing ! I thought you might love it there…..it’s an amazing place for hiking ect ….the video is amazing love it keep them coming , you are a great photographer ….
The nature and the woods around Dundas is pristine and gorgeous... in the fall time, all the trees in the valley come to life. When I fly back home to visit, I spend so much time out in the woods I can barely walk on the flight back out west
First off...get a small car, the public transportation utopia that you are accustomed to in Toronto does not exist in Dundas. 2nd...get out and buy your food from the farmers themselves and there are dozens of Farms in the surrounding area within a 30 min drive, 3rd...get a freezer and stock up on those farm items, 4th...don't be so hung up on the term "organic" lots of farms in the area don't bother paying the fees and time getting their farms certified with the term organic, they simply raise the foods and meats the way they were supposed to be.5th... don't knock Hamilton unless you have lived there, Hamiltonians know what's good, bad and ugly about their city and nobody needs an ex Torontonian bad mouthing Hamilton. 6th, put in a garden and grow your own food and see whats really involved in bringing food to the table.
Yea I don’t understand why he isn’t just considering a car. You’ll need it out there.
@@dealman3312 Does he even have a drivers license?
he is such a city slicker. . . love the guy but damn!
I don't know about Canada but here in the States you can pick up a 3.8 cu ft chest freezer for under $200, holds quite a bit of meat. Might be something to consider so you could load up on grass fed stuff (and your gf's bread) elsewhere or have it shipped to you. I love my chest freezer, worth every penny. Nice lookin little town - good luck and have fun!
nice vlog ! I've always heard good things about Dundas but never been ! All the best if you do move there !
I am happy for you you can seriously consider such a place. In winter it must be charming in a different way.
A Multi Purpose House .. and Multi Generational 😁 .. With studios, children's playroom and a Grandpa Porch ..
Hey Kasey, I grew up in Dundas. Gorgeous place :) I was lucky enough to be right next to the Dundas valley conservation area. And It's just so nice :)
where at in dundas?
@@matthewolson469 Right next to the Dundas valley conservation area!
@@EntirelyHonest lucky! Those houses nearby are all beautiful
Dundas is a very lovely town, and surrounded by nature, usually referred to as the Valley. I do live on the Hamilton escarpment, but worked in Dundas for many years and you will get the small town feel from Dundas, but still close to main city. It is a great little town, and they celebrate the Cactus Festival there every year. Also you are very close to a major University, McMaster. Hamilton also has a lot of green space, but you have to be aware many structures along the escarpment are deteriorating.
Getting groceries at farmers market is good for organics sometimes too!
That’s an amazing melon selection 🍉
I'm pretty sure your hawks were buzzards looking for carrion. Interesting area but what's up with the closed trails? Are they trying to keep people from living in the woods?
Like others have said, a vehicle of some sort would be a good idea when living outside of big cities. It could also expand choices of homes to live in. Good luck with your hunt!
Who really cares
Holy shit I can't believe you were in that Fortinos!
Just fyi Cumbrae's for free range, local meat and Picones for produce (both in the "downtown" strip of Dundas)
That hawk is a turkey vulture. Dundas is an awesome place to live.
I know this is for your eyes only. Are you aware that Cumbrae's has a store in Dundas? It's downtown at 26 King St. They deliver also for $11.00. Looks like Dundas may be a winner. Good luck!
Nice to hear you're moving to Dunder Mifflin.
Get your self a house VP, you can make your channel a channel about growing your own food in the backyard.
Dundas is cute but there are actually a few areas in Hamilton close to Bruce trail that can make you feel like you are in the middle of nature when in fact you are in the middle of the city. The plant based community in Hamilton is also pretty good.
A lot of the smaller waterfalls actually appear only in the spring when the snow thaws, fun fact. You can see a lot more even driving in your car along a road going up or down the escarpment during the spring!
Dont forget to take care of your dear beautiful mom even if you leave your place .
True
Dang haven't seen your vids in a long time. Remember you were having health trouble last vid I saw. Glad to see you're alive and well lol
Jah's Foreskin Removal - 5:07 in your google map, near the top-right.. A well known tourist highlight in Dundas! Don't miss it next time.
There are a lot of rope rescues every year at the waterfalls. The city closes them off to try to stop people from taking selfies and falling off the edge. I'm a proud Hamiltonian. Dundas is beautiful!
Try Cornwall, Ontario. Very cheap, full of nature, not ridiculously cold, safe, no homeless population, solid grocers etc. It seems like a good fit for you.
The high school I went to is right behind that Fortinos!
I live in Dundas! It's a beautiful little town. And hey, we don't hate Hamilton! It's just a little quieter here 😜
Strathcona Market and Dundurn Market are small local organic food stores in the Hamilton area. You might like those as well.
Nice place. Congratulations
Do it, Dundas rocks. Nature, good restaurants and friendly people. Might be a bit liberal but tollerable.
the new canadian tire store used to be a metro. Had lots more then the one down the hill. Enjoy dundas it's a amazing place to live.
Nice looking town.
Dundas.. So beautiful
Ancaster.. So beautiful
Conservation area has great trails, also Tiffany falls on Wilson street is another great nature area.
VGMeats delivers and are located in Hamilton. I've purchased a fair bit of grass fed beef from them and pretty happy with their products.
“He could chop my head off at any second” ☠️😆😆😆
Yes move there! looks like good chill energy
There is a farm boy not terribly far from Dundas. I'm literally looking at real estate all over the places you have been so rewatching your vids :) Hamilton has better value but I am kinda in love with Guelph. The nature conservation areas surrounding that city are sooooo good. I would drive ya haha. Make more travel vlogs pls
"Halal" is like kosher, but in accordance with strict Muslim guidelines. Both follow the laws of Moses ("Musa" to Muslims) so they are very similar in strictness.
such a city slicker lmao OMG a spider wed!
"I would not agree with that. We're tresspassing" - this is a smart man.
I'm from hamilton love hamilton. I don't believe Hamiltonians are embarrassed to say it
I know right , what a rude thing to say when moving somewhere lol
YOU'RE THE BEST!
Yeah nah, that's not going to remind you of Thailand once Canadian winter hits.
One of my fave YT photographers lives in Hamilton: Rachel Lerch. So I've seen a fair bit of Hamilton. You should move there. it looks nice.
Goodness Me is the organic foods chainstore in the Hamilton/Burlington area.
Is now good time to buy or Wilhite prices go down in the winter
Really weird that nature trails are closed off... Could you really go there freely every day?
I heard a good suggestion when moving to a new city/country - rent first for a few months before committing to buying a house. You cannot really get a feel for the place until you've lived there for a while.
Happy searching!
In the United States you can order a big box of grass-fed animal products to be delivered to your house. Maybe there is a similar service in Canada?
There is an.organic food shop on the main street
Dundas is a still basically like a small village and they're trying to preserve that feeling so you won't find anything big within the downtown of Dundas other than that Metro. They have other smaller local markets in downtown that are nice to go to instead.
You need to come to Aylmer Quebec. Lots and lots of greenery and mountains and english speaking people. Markets, marina…very nice
1:20 Looks like everyone's leaving Dundas Hamilton!
Not too far from me my friend, here in Metro Detroit! Stay safe!
All for the excitement of house buying.. I get it. But, we are pretty much at the tip top of a massive housing bubble right now. Gotta do what makes ya happy of course... just my two cents. I study macro and am in the markets every day. Good luck though. Whatever choice ya make will be the right one buddy..
those woods would be great for marrawannas and bears
I usually pay $16-23 for uncooked organic chicken. That was a good deal.
I think those were vultures. There are a million organic farms that deliver in SW Ontario. And sites like Well and Healthy Planet where you can get specialty snacks and supplements.
Missed an opportunity for a joke:
“Waterfall? More like waterFELL!”
Good video!!!😀👍. I hope you get that House, there could be good to do these hearles homosapiens gorilla videos. Good luck!!!🦜🐘😀👍
Wildlife? fresh produce? you should head to BC brother. Creston is a great spot, affordable, close to the US border amazing nature.
5:34 cheesiest jumpscare of my life.... but it got me... it got me so bad. 😫😫
I GREW UP IN DUNDAS YEESSSSS HAHAHAHAA This is AMAZING
Hawks is a good sign.. always
So have big food up in de mountains ..may be in the other side of cananda
Saying "Dundas Hamilton" stings since the amalgamation. Tews and Webster's falls was my playground as a kid but now they're brutally over cordoned and charge a kings ransom to visit. Thankfully I still know all of the ins and outs for an epic trek without bringing my wallet.😉
Canada looks expensive compared to Perth Australia...And the bird life here is the great...rotisserie chicken $10 aud
Perth is way better. Except for the extra draconian Aus policies that is
Not going to lie, the rat part scared me. Lol
when you move to the country side for health. you should also go the extra mile and buy your meat at a local farm. but for this you need a car. in general i suggest getting a car when you are not living in a huge city
WOW! The price of food in Canadia is EXPENSIVE! You showed us butter at half a pound or 200g for over $7.00. Here in Australia you can get 500g of butter for $6 to $7, but its not "Organic", thats just where the price starts. I wouldn't even know where you could find Organic butter in Australia. All of the prices for everything else was ridiculous - how do you people live with prices so sky high........
Do they have an Aldi or Lidl in Canadia? You can save quite a bit at Aldi.
Interesting little town. You don't have a car, so how is the public transportation? Is a scooter enough in winter?
Trail closures could be from downed trees, which raises the question of park maintenance. The other issue is the areas designated as wildlife refuges. Breeding songbirds can need a lot of foraging territory that's away from human traffic. So please respect that signage.
How do waterfalls stop? (1) drought; (2) lack of snowmelt in spring, which is related to #1; (3) the water source being diverted for irrigation, or even by a landslide or fallen trees. I'm sure there are others.
P.S. - the "hawk" at 4:45 is actually a Black Vulture. You can tell by the very tiny head and the slight tilt of the wings when soaring.
Or homeless, vagrants? He did mention some drunks giving him directions.
@@sandrabentley8111 well, they would be the ones most familiar with the local woodland.
Ohhhh come to mississauga 😊😊😊😊
Yeah, GTF out of the hive. You’ll enjoy this a bit more.
What about Niagara or Brockville? What about near the border crossings? What about springs? Or organic farms you can buy direct?
Neither Niagara or Brockville is as easily accessible to major urban centres of Toronto and Downtown Hamilton. In Dundas, you're a 15 minute bike ride or direct 24 hour public transit from downtown. Also several organic/sustainable small farms in the area as well and there are a few shops in downtown Dundas that sell their produce not to mention a farmer's market from spring through to Thanksgiving.
It's better in the valley!🙂
Get the home.. Its nice...cozy...
wasnt here for a while, what diet are we on currently ? :D
It looks like a house from "A Haunting" series 😂
Rockwood Ontario has beautiful nature trails and caves. Small town, just west of Georgetown, also small and nice. It is 20 minutes east of Guelph, but much smaller and not as many mask zombies.
I grew up in Dundas. And I love the town still to this day. But I am confused as to why you are calling is ‘Dundas Hamilton’. They are two different cities.
Kombucha is so easy to make yourself! And costs pennies a glass
That rat made me jump 😂
Lebron is so modest ...
Hey man I’m moving up close to you but On New York side
What kind of fruit they grow in Canada do they have blueberries we have some Canadian cherries down here they important I’m from Canada
Grapes, melons, berries, plums, apples, cherries, pears. That’s about it
I love that house for you and wife to be. Excited for you to come out of rentals for your financial security. You could grow your own.
Holy nuts that pouncing mouse scared me
You look younger in the natural light.
One point though, Dundas is the gorgeous valley, Hamilton is the nearby ashen city, also known as Steel City. It's like the door to heaven and hell right beside each other... the further you go east, the uglier it gets
You got an Aldi in Niagra Falls over the border in Merica. Here in Australia we save 20-30% on groceries at Aldi. The other major chains have us over a barrel while the German company is doing us a deal. You won't get that on a German car or German car service! Rumor has it the Germans invented the barrel lol. Nah it was probably the Italians.
Not only an Aldi but a Save Alot. But with the difference in money its hard to find bargains there now.
Best town you've looked at so far. I can see you living there. Find out why some of the trails are closed. Look at all homes for sale, make offer. Has your girlfriend seen it yet?

We have health food stores in Hamilton.
