You SAVED my day! I got my yard all ready to run my lawn sweeper and get the leaves out before the city came to pick them up. Hooked up the tractor after backing it out of the barn and won’t move . I tried two other videoed that took so long to get to the lint that I went to you! 10 minutes later I am picking up leaves! THANKS!
Cleaning the cavity as you showed, did the trick!! Used a long “dryer exhaust lint brush”. Took a good 10 min and lots came out indeed, but mowers runs fine now! Did not dismount the deck, just lowered it all the way.
Thanks - I even had changed the drive belt (incredible hassle) and it still was slow as hell up hills. Watched your video. I chocked the back wheels and jacked up the front with the deck all the way down. Was able to reach in there with a chisel and push/pull out a big thick pad of old grass and dust. As good as new now! Didn't have to remove the mower deck.
Wow, that’s a wonderful video with fantastic information. I reached down along the steering column, toward the deck and found what you spoke about. Hard packed grass and dirt collecting there for years. I removed most of it and took a test drive. Splendid results. I’ve Groton to admit, my machine needs a good clean up. But I’d never have gone poking around the brake linkage. Please thank your wife too. Many times I’ve explained what I’m puzzled about and she asks the right questions at the right time. So blest to have wonderfully helpful partners. Thanks so much for sharing.
My suggestion. Every time i'm finished with cutting my lawn or picking up leaves, I use my leaf blower to clean off the entire mower and deck and especially underneath the drive line. I own a new Husqvarna and a Yardman that has lasted me over 25 years. Good luck.
Awesome job - took me ages to find that info on youtube. The moment I did it the bearings gave out on 2 of the guide rollers. After fixing that we now use one of the 18v shop blowers - just pick one that works with your ecosystem. Quick run around the deck, engine bay and everywhere else and then put it away.
Thanks so much for this video ! I took your advice and used a leaf blower to clear everything out exactly how you said and it worked ! The mower is back online and you saved me at least $200
Was gonna replace my drive belt because I thought it may have been worn. I was having the same issues. I seen you're video You saved me alot of work . Fixed it in about 10 minutes. Thanks
Husky YT42LS. Gas tank is where your battery box is.. so could not inspect belt. however, lowered deck to the ground and cleaned all around brake pedal mechanism in the spot you pointed out (under left foot rest) Fixed in 10 min.. big thank you from Mississippi 🙏
Thanks for the video, saved me a couple hundred bucks if I took it to a mechanic. I have the same mower and thought my tranny was going out. After watching this I checked that belt, and realized there's a plastic pulley that's all chewed up and it keeps kicking that belt off and making the belt super loose 👍
Thank you for that, I have a similar unit which gets heavy use on my small farm. The main power shift which drives the two main belts broke its indent key, and I lost all movement, and blade power. Once I diagnosed it and replace that two pulley shift it worked fine again. Now I will, check the area you cleaned too.
I have a crapsman that has the exact same problem. The grass will build up under the break/clutch linkages. It will be like shoving a grass brick under the linkage, and the belt will not fully engage to drive the tractor. I have to clean mine out about every couple of years.
Thank you Bob I used my air compressor and blew it ou,t works fine. I wish I could take you to dinner. I was afraid it was a clutch Happy thanksgiving Max
Great video as usual! I think we are all guilty of not maintaining our mowers the way a person should but it looks like you do a good job. I managed to get get mine clean last fall but didn't service it until spring.
You can just hose off your mower when done is easy or a compressor and blow out . & your vacuum may have a port to blow the air instead of vacuuming . Cool you are still wrenching . Don’t stop . I’m 64 and my wife wants me to start thinning out my tools so we can move ! Me: HAVE U LOST YOUR MIND . Just put a new carburetor and starter on my LG2654 🔧🛠️on
Extremely poor engineering on the new machines. But, they don't care as long as people keep buying them. My 16 yr old Cub Cadet collects so much grass underneath it's tough to keep up with. I actually have to run it w/o the deck pulley guards on because the grass jams it up in there. Once it started smoking and I was worried it would catch fire. That's when the guards came off for good. I never remember having such trouble with those old machines back 40 yrs or more. Almost like they intentionally build them to fail in a short time.
Beyond the tech tips I have to say, it's inspirational to see a 78 year old still wrenching and technology savvy enough to post videos of it too.
It's so cool how you listened to your wife and the success you had with your mower 🙂 thank you for sharing !!
How could it be that simple!? You’re right that fixed it thanks.

Thanks, Bob. I fixed my mower problem in about ten minutes with your help!
Cleaning the grass is the key. Thanks for the information it worked.
Was gonna replace my drive belt because I thought it may have been worn. I was having the same issues. I seen you're video You saved me alot of work . Fixed it in about 10 minutes. Thanks

I am from the dealer for Husqvarna in Kuwait. Today I had the same problem with TCH 338 T. Changed tha belt and it is OK. But replacing is difficult.
THANK YOU! My tractor was struggling to go up inclines and after cleaning the grass from under the brake return lever it works great again.
Good thing to know! Thank-You Robert & Mrs.!👍
Awesome, thanks, the same thing going on over here so I'll be checking that out indeed !
This video saved me. However, I used a leaf blower instead. I did not know the grass was stuck up in that area.
Mine was clear but I did notice a linkage to the rear connected to the brake pedal was missing, Thanks Sir!

Thank you for that video. Thank your wife as well. I´ll have to listen more to my wife now..............
Hey Bob, it's Tyler I wish I would have watched this yesterday but the decks not back on yet so I'll see what's going on. Thank the Mrs. For me.

I never would have thought of (or found) that on my own.

Thank You So much, you saved me hours of work!
Good job Diane! How much do you charge to vacuum out a mower? :)
Awsome, solved my problem, used a blower to blow it out also
While you have it up in the air get a can of belt dressing and spray down the belts and pulleys

Air compressure would be a better option....blow all the grass out.....fyi
Use a air hose an blow it out.
I just use water
if you have a air compressor blow it out
yahoooooooo
WTF
Look at the piece of crap transmission
