Thank you, Katie Porter for forcing her hand. Her people probably told her that she would probably lose to you so she did the selfish thing and spared herself the embarrassment.
But thank you, thank you thank you you will not be missed Dianne Feinstein. I will always remember with pride all of the campaigns I worked on challenging your leadership.

@@B_Bodziak no thank you. I am done with corporate Democrats. That’s what we’re finally getting rid of with Feinstein… That’s what we’re stuck with with Padilla. I’m ready for a working class champion back in one of our Senate seats. We haven’t had that since Barbara Boxer.

I looked it up and as of December 2022, the youngest U.S. Senator is Jon Ossoff (Georgia Democrat) at 35, the average age is 65 with 4 Senators at that age, there are 37 Senators that are at least 70, and the 2 oldest are Diane Feinstein (California Democrat) and Chuck Grassley (Iowa Republican) at 89 years old.

She quite literally forgot her retirement announcement and about an hour later - went out to talk to reporters and they asked her about her retirement - and she said she had not announced her retirement. THEN - her aide standing next to her had to forcefully interject and tell her that the statement was given to the press etc . . YES - she is this deep into dementia and she is STILL IN OFFICE.

Sorry YTY, I gotta make a fact correction here...
Harvey Milk was NOT mayor of San Francisco when he was assassinated. He was a member of the Board of Supervisors representing the Castro District within San Francisco. It was actually George Moscone who was mayor when both he and Milk were assassinated by disgruntled former Board of Supervisor Dan White.
Dianne Feinstein was another member of the Board of Supervisors, and after Moscone had been assassinated, she was appointed mayor of San Francisco until the next election which she successfully campaigned and won two terms as Mayor before she joined Barbara Boxer to rep California as US Senator.
I was born and raised in San Francisco still live here, and although I was only 6 years old at the time, I remember it all very well. And yes the biggest reason for Feinstein's Crusade on gun control is directly related to the tragedy that eventually led her to become senator in our United States Congress.
Another (not fun) fact- this tragedy, along with the Rev. Jim Jones situation ‐ The People's Temple, and the infamous cult mass murder-suicide massacre where over 900 people died in Jonestown, Guyana rocked San Francisco. The People's Temple was headquartered in San Francisco, and the majority of Jones's followers were native to the San Francisco Bay Area. Both the Moscone/Milk assassinations and the Jonestown Massacre (along with the murders of Congressman Leo Ryan, NBC correspondents and reporters who where there to investigate for people being held there against their will) happened within a week of each other, in November of 1978.
While I don't agree with much of her policies and much of what she's done as US senator over the last decade, Dianne Feinstein has one of the highest ratings as mayor of San Francisco to date. She actually lead The City through one of the darkest periods in its history.
