If you put a "Super Powered Piston Radial Engine!" on every wheel, you wont have to use the bootleg gears.
Increase the crankshaft diameter by a block, that would give you a crap ton more power. Also I have a durable and smooth 3 speed gearbox (kinda big though) so let me know if you want me to upload it.

There is your solution for reverse lol use a piston engine in reverse to jump start the other one in reverse as long it corrects itself in the correct orientation when you turn the other one off afterwards

Another thing you could do is just have a engine, not to jump start it but to use it at all.
Have a gearbox made of 4-8 pistons connecting the two. You know what ill just make it myself
i have found another way: use 2 bearings with one controller each. make it so that one bearing rotates in the opposite direction of the other. this would allow you to easily make the engine go in reverse and forwards.
Nice video and it slides because the back is a locked differential. If you’re turning right the right wheel is going to have to go faster then the left wheel and with the lock differential you can’t do that so it slides
If you are turning right your left wheel has to go faster not the right wheel

make a radial engine from a b29 it has two rings of nine pistons so 18 pistons total

These engines demand a tractor pulling multiplayer monday, with a "sled" (or a vehicle with a bunch of weight driving in the opposite direction, with speed progressively getting faster) and see how far you can pull the sled!

Yes, you can make a 8 piston engine now...
BUT WHAT ABOUT 16?!
You could use the four piston to kick start the 8 into the wrong direction as a reverse gear, so depending on which order they’re turned on you have Fwd or reverse
You cloud turn the whole engine sideways. The transfer gear would work the same but you will be able to position the engine over the rear axel, therefore allowing for more ground clearance.

A genius idea: can you make 2 walls not far away from each other, and build a very powerful "thing" which can extend his big wheels(or something else) and can drive up by using a very powerful engine(maybe 32 pistons?) , So something like a elevator for heavy something

Because I'm now trying out different flying creations and have just built your simplified 3 piston variant. What about if you used these to power a large bomber?
youcan make it so that the engine shuts off while the gears change.
you press a button for an gear and then a timer shuts off the engine for the time needed to change gears so it will not
just press in the pistons under gearing. when it is in position you can jut lock it in place with an simple lock and you are done.

You can make it go in reverse like you did in that final test. You shut off both engines. Start the 4 cylinder engine then start the 8 cylinder engine so that it forces it to go backwards. Then to go forward again shut them off and just start the I cylinder engine again.

I saw this and your hammer powered Flying box. Maybe one could use logic pistons and the suspension glitch the hammer flyer uses might work. Too bad there is nothing I know of that can be held and welded to some pistons.
Have a car with a radial engine per wheel? Radial engine gyroscope?
Try putting one demon engine behind the other, but flip it and put three gears in place to change the rotation of the reverse engine to go in the normal (forward) orientation. Maybe if you have them going in opposite directions you could use a lighter machine sine the forces would cancel out a little bit?

You’ve made quite a few piston engines, but what about explosive powered engines making use of a bomb spawner in each enclosed cylinder along with a spud gun or two to detonate the explosive on command, functioning as realistically to the way of real piston engine works as possible

One other major advantage of the big wheels is gearing... rpm*circumference. Using the biggest stock wheel driven directly from the crankshaft of a piston engine with the shortest, fastest piston throws possible isn't so fast in my experience.
also, since the piston engines in-game mimic the firing pulses of a two stroke motor, running an 8 "cylinder" like this will have the power stroke overlap of a 16 cylinder 4 stroke... so yeah, amazing torque in an impressively small package. well done.

Hey kAN how do you attach multiple pistons to the same to the same axis? I cant because when I try this, only one is attached. And welding cant helt me when building radial engines
Could you spin thrusters on a radial engine as an uplift stabilizer that also acts as a gyro?
You could use that reverse jump start for reverse
i think the 4 cylinder radial engine could make up to that hill with the adding a gearbox

Hey kan i know that you love scrap mechanic but I have to remind you to look at your old vids for ideas for vehicles in survival because the demon engine is so powerful you have to try to use it in one of your cars
you can fix the tires so they dont wiggle around , just add steeri g like in a rc car or a real car and connect every bearing to the chair and it will be way stronger and wont wobble

You can make the sequence more efficient I think but I could be wrong

2, 3 years late, but there’s an Idea for reverse: just place a lower powered engine against the higher powered drive engine to “jump-start” it in reverse ;) of course, the “vehicle” will be just THIS MUCH LARGER... 🤪😂

You know I've just thought of the solution to your problem with not being able to go reverse, when you used that weaker engine and then started up the stronger one the weaker one jump started the stronger one backwards aka in reverse, so you could connect those two engines and use the weaker engine to kick the stronger one into reverse.

eacg time I make a piston engine I add a switch that when you activate it it puts all the piston & bearings back to 0. it is good if you are stoping caus it wont want to bounce
If you make them go the same way you could have a v12
