Hey everyone reply to this comment if you have a swin car you'd like me to try! Workshop link will be coming later!
kAN Gaming what is the name of intro song
kAN Gaming you should make a car that goes up and down as it drives
You need to make the center of mass on the v.3 lower, because its almost at the pivit point so the force is really weak. add some more metal blocks at the bottom
and it doesent help if you make it heavyer you need to move the mass center
hopefully not too much later, i think i have an answer for how to fix your problem, but i cant actually test it till i get a copy of your vehicle
I'll have it up later today when I'm back from work.
the gravity efect on bearings are not updating fast, to reduce lag. try adding a block to the car when its slanted, you will see it forces an update and the car should level out
You just answered my physics homework
HeatGaming good for you
HeatGaming good for you and only you
I've been messing around with suspension ideas, and I've found that suspensions built in a loop like yours act like weak stabilizers. Might be why it takes so long to straighten itself out.
Kan : *made a brik*
Also kan : *sometimes brick is the most efficient shape*
Why don't you make a Y or triangular wishbone? I also think that instead of using wishbone steering use a steering rack, or won't that work?
Thanks kAN, the car you made is awesome.
Hey kAN, you could use a gas engine to make a torsional spring. You just need to have a low-powered gas engine hooked up to the bearing and make the engine stay on all the time
You need trailing arms to help maintain center. You have Y and Z axis suspension but no counteracting force on your X axis. Make your lower control arm attach to the body via trailing arm. Put 2 axis bearings on it so it follows your control arms. Great stuff, man!
You need bonus shock absorbers at dual wishbone at both sides. This idea is used commonly in trucks without travel bridge, that are quite the same as in this dual wishbone part. So... just add susp at 2-3 strength just for centering.
Ździsław Źdźbło ye
Rewatching and reading these comments 2 years later made me so happy, you sounded so childish in the video, so so much softer, and i cant understand why
How many cars do you know that can have 4 tyres in four different directions?
Answer: 1, invented by kAN in scrap mechanic
hey kan, new update released
You can now play Scrap Mechanic in Chinese.
Updated all languages with more translations.
Fixed bug that didn’t let the player weld when it should be possible to weld.
Remade the welding particles and added bounce to the welding particle.
Fixed bug where welding particles didn’t spawn.
Fixed so bearings on a creation are still stable after getting welded.
The delay when pointing on larger creations with a weld tool or a lift is now optimized.
Bearings that touch an object will now stick to that object when building.
This makes it easier to build awesome fork suspension that have two bearings attached to each side of the wheel.
Fixed a common crash in the blueprint import and export guis.
Fixed a common crash when starting the game.
Fixed the teleport distance when falling trough the ground.
Improved the driving even more with a less bumpy ground.
Added arrows when placing a part and adjusting its position on a surface. This is to make it easier to understand how the object can be dragged within the placement spot.
Fixed a crash when building huge Logic gate creations.
and pistons are coming
I was actually building this, double wishbones + pendulum, and the gravity problem still exists. That's what got me here. For now, I've added springs to each corner with long pivoting arms to the axles, it greatly wastes the potential of it all, but it's the best option if you don't feel like building a lift every 5 seconds.
the culd fix the waight thing but it wold lag so mutch becus every block on a new bearing wold count as a new mashen
i am from sweden so i am not that good at english
Translation: You could fix the weight thing but it would lag so much because every block on a new bearing would count as a new machine.
du u kno pewds
a better way to solv the problem of the self centering would be to make the parallelogram linkage differently to have more leverage against the suspension.
in fact, you'd probably only have to move the outer top two bearings up one block to gain enough mechanical advantage.
that's pretty boss. is the suspension not freaking out because the vehicle is so light and it's not direct downward pressure? every time I've tried to build something in the past couple of months the last joint at the bottom of suspension comes loose and swivels around while in motion.
I really enjoy your videos, keep it up 👌🏻
Maybe if the mass moves to the middle it requires for the whole mass to move up meaning that when it's standing it's actually balanced.
I think that It is kinda crazy that he was one of the first people to make the most popular suspension in sm
I didn't keep it because it had the same issue that you were having, and I had used a suspension going straight across the body so then the car leans it puts pressure on the suspension. it worked pretty well except you had to get the correct suspension setting or else it wouldn't work at all or just lock the body at the same angle as the suspension.
Stupid question but is it possible to link an differential to this between the wheels? You would need to have the actuall shaft between the diff and the wheel to be able to stretch.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not an engineer, but the body, the pivot and the top of the double wishbone construction together act as a lever right? The body acting as the long arm, the pivot as the fulcrum and the double wishbone as the short arm.
Would it not be more beneficial to have a longer body then as opposed to a taller wishbone construction?
Also, a couple of weak springs might make the wishbone straighten out more, but it would also lower the differential height between the wheels at their maximum, so there might not always be full contact with the ground.
Just my two cents, nice build!
the problem with version 3 is the parallelogram linkage. If you had a linkage that had more mechanical advantage, it would enable the weight of the body of the car to find equilibrium more effectively.
KAN, Look at the science. I'm the gif, the car is design to work with Earth's gravity and Scrap Mechanic is actually on another planet, you actually need to use equations to determine the gravutaional acceleration on THAT planet and not use Earth's gravity to create you creations
7:30, the reason it doesn't level out is because the distance between the wheels changes, and the wheels are slowly sliding the wrong direction
Nice vid kan
was watching your stream earlier, and you said you were having issues with this car, and i was sitting there thinking "wow, what on earth could stump kan?" and then you post this video and you show the video and im like "OH CRAP, yeah that would be hard in this game"
I think you should make the drop pods into ejection seats or pods in a vehicle or something
for next multiplayer Monday you can build a car that doesn't drive under direct control but with wasd converter
the connection points to attach to the body need pistons in order for the body and suspension to be considered two separate entities thus allowing the body to be pulled to gravity all the time... at lest that's my theory. now this was over two years ago but I would love to see if that fixed your issue...
have you tried making an exact replica of the mechanism used in the GIF?
so cool
OH COOL! didnt think youd be uploading this soon!
6:34 Kan just painted white with a black spray can?
The car body needs a gyro, but that would make it too big plus if you hit terrain it would get messed up
Can't find it on workshop. Can find a lot of 'for kan' stuff; but not this. No link in description either.
Try adding suspension from the bottom of each side of the wish bones to the body to force it to straighten out.
what if you use the big spings/shocks connected from wishbone to body on 90deg. pipe have spring rate soft so it will travel but the spring will make it return
it should be possible with a double wishbone.
toparms is fitted to something connected with steering and move wheel angle to the side youre turning.
A pendulum hanging from a fixed point will of course align to gravity. However, you don't have that. The main pivot point you speak of is not fixed. Your double-wishbone mechanism locks the body angle to the wheel angle which tilts the whole thing. So really, you're pivoting the whole vehicle off the bottom of your wheels. When the vehicle is angled, it has to lift much of the vehicle upwards against gravity in order to align the body.
The second version is so goofy lol
I know you commented 2 years ago but I gotta ask...why the hell are there so many people with your pfp?
@@gamernatemoore8029 yes
maybe you can make the body wider so the weight is easier to stabelize
You should do a multiplayer Monday where you all pick a random car from your saved cars
Maybe, just maybe, it's because the game isn't calculating the gravity of the pendulum seat. It's calculating the gravity of the car chassis and applying that to the seat. Suspension makes your game lag because it makes the object on the other end have its own set of physics, so, if you put suspension in-between the pendulum seat and the chassis, it will calculate gravity physics for the seat too. Similar thing happens with water. The game calculates the contact with the base, but not the paddles. When you add suspension to the paddles, it calculates physics for the paddles, collision with water. Maybe the game isn't calculating the physics for the seat just the chassis and applying those gravity physics to the seat too. Just put suspension and it will calculate gravity physics for the seat.
I think the problem is that when Scrap Mechanic doesnt detect enough movement it just stops the object from moving to save resources (so the game doesnt have to calculate shadows etc.)
so your saying in the video the body isnt heavy enough, y u dont make the body heavier?
you are the best
You should lubricate your bearings. Maybe that'll help.
Tomás Mejia Should mod some frictionless bearings maybe? Is that a thing?
I don't know if there's a mod for frictionless bearings, but I imagine it would help a little with the pivoting of the car's body
I think installing suspension on the upper bars would fix a problem ;)
Kan can you make a moped or a bike in scrap mechanic.i think it's gonna be fun make small thing like that
I tried adding a really basic gyro to the bottom of the cab and it -SORT OF- helped...?! I do think the main issue is Scrap Mechanic's physics, though.
you are awsome
Hey Kan, I was really interested in this video so I decided to try and make one as well, I actually succeeded and would like for you to see it
i need this for my piston engine cars XD
So I realize you will probably not see this comment on a 2 year old video, but.. I've messed with a lot of weird suspension setups in scrap mechanic, and that slow return to center looks like you've got a suspension glitch somewhere in there that provides a counteracting force.
Do a plane dog fight with friends
Make the bottom layer of blocks out of heavier blocks.
I'd say a 4 link solid axle suspension works better but i know thats not the point of the video
Does this work in survival in 2020? I tried replicating it up to the last bearing but it folds when driving, I tried the workshop version in creative and it works perfectly. Im not sure what the problem is, I checked every detail, but I did notice that the wheels tend to split apart from the bearing that holds the wheel and suspension with the pivot bar.
Ideas anyone?
Just recently seen a guy make double wish bone suspension that doesn't have the suspension glitch
Kan you could use durf's modpack( the ultra heavy block) for the weight
forget about it I didn't watch the end
Justice Gamer Lol I was gonna link you the time for that part XD
Kan the problem with version 3 is that you used double wishbone instead of single wishbone
Well as in the second wishbone is in the way
Ya made a suspension glitch that's why it doesn't work properly
thats right but that can be solvedby putting more weight at the sides so the suspension glitch isnt as strong as the gravity
griff I'm confused where the suspension glitch is though... I could try it without suspension at all I guess and see if that helps
You can add another set of bearings facing forwards or backwards perpendicular to the set on the elbow pieces holding the suspension in place, that should work??? I'd have to fiddle with it for a bit to confirm that.
When I make a double wishbone suspension it makes a suspension glitch and it annoyed the crap out of me you could try using Pistons instead of suspension pieces since Pistons act like suspensions if there is enough weight in the car
@@neko7684 I am VERY late, but pistons also make a stabilization glitch
multiplayer Pendulum truck race!
I’ve never seen kan like this 6:54
You realy need to make a crossover with wanderbots.
could you tru this in trailmakers?
Try sensors and controllers for alignment
But for the most point, scrap mechanic does have bad physics
Endr Warrior I was going to do it with sensors but I felt that kinda defeated the purpose.
Why don't use the Gravity mode
Maybe putting uncontrolled bearings will solve the chassis not obeying physics
Do a mech battle with your friends
Couldn't you just widen the body so the gravitational dispersion force would be greater per each side? I just made up a lot of words.
I know how it won't do it fast enough one of the pivot points is stoping the other pivot point from swaying
Jack Sahr See I thought that too but real life physics says it should work. good ol scrap mechanic physics
Hmmm tried this yesterday and now a suspension can’t be connected to the same vehicle twice
it can, use the weld tool and have bearings between.
THE WISHBONES THEY ARE UNABLE TO SHIFT TO THE SIDE. srry, the wishbones need to shift to the side
Hey kan try redoing it now there might be a difference
EARLY AT LEAST
Infinite stablizer
1:11
MATE PUT SPRINGS BETWEEN THE 2 WISHBONES ON THE ENDS!!!!!!!!!!! IT WILL STRAIGHTEN!!
Is this Spidermans car
You should check out xsponturbox for camber suspension he has a youtube channel
Literally everyone who does scrap mechanic copies comodo gaming with the beginning of their videos lol
it folds because it is the shaped of a box
U could of just put the platform on free floating barings
You have looked up what a double Wishbone actually looks like right? I mean I'm just saying I don't even see a single Wishbone. Wishbo es are shaped like wishbones that's where they got their name
Hi
3
7:35/9:47 its becose of the traktion of the weels
No it's not it's weight and scrap mechanic gravity and physics
Kan I've been watching alot of harry potter recently. Can you and some othet people make a scrap mechanic sizef Hogwarts?
kan rant in 3,2,1 go 6:56

UGH so many times this has happened. I try a cool idea. I fail at it. I work harder and spend more time at it. do a good job but still doesn't work because scrap mechanic physics are not correct. In a physical world logic-based game, physics have to be as accurate as possible. I think that is the main problem for sm.
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=952558681
i fixed it, mostly, the height in which the wheels can go has been lowered, ill work on that, but at least i got the stability working
matt le'mon I'll check this out later! Seems like you lowered the stability point and added more in behind?
just updated it, but yes, i added more on both sides of the suspension, it needed a fourth bar from what i found, also needed some lower and wider angles, and i also added wheel steering since i couldnt figure out how to get it to turn properly
as always, im happy to help ^_^
i did a lot, honestly i just threw stuff at a wall and seen what stuck, originally i was thinking a counter balance would work... but then i decided a fourth beam would work better, and actually both sides are now identical, i updated my current build, with the side that works better, but so far im not having too many problems, i also added wheel steering on the current one, since tilt works good... i guess, but having the wheels turn is so much nicer, about the only thing is the wheels dont lift as high as they used too, but i figure thats something you can tweak on your own :D sorry i didnt paint the bearing black
Try heavyer material
Never mind
Jurassic Plays i like your name
Make the body heavier.
This was 2017...3....years.....ago
its SWING car! not swin car!
please download the last one
kan can you give me a link of terrain mod
Teen Kwai he is not using any mods
Ulttra what does he use i mean the prevously video
Teen Kwai ?
Terrain is not a mod its implemented into the main game on steam. all the mods are also on the workshop now
hello KAN can u play with me some timen
