    You and Logan really are providing a vital public service during these strange times Dave. Such a wonderful few minutes to escape the gloomy weather and gloomier news, to a little piece of paradise amongst the English countryside. Thanks for your efforts, just wonderful!

    I was born in Micheldever "many years ago" and then moved up to a house near the railway station. I married and moved to Berkshire and now in Shropshire but my parents still lived there until they retired in 1982. My grandparents lived in the house, near the end of this clip, that had the date 1803 and my uncle lived next door (it was two farm cottages originally). It's been nice to see the church where we were married and all the lovely cottages again. It's true you never really appreciate your birthplace until you've lived elsewhere. Thank you for the video

    Watched 3 walks this morning whilst bagging up breads in the bakery. A lovely bit of escapism. Thanks Dave!

    Wow! Micheldever & West Stratton had some really impressive timber framed thatched cottages! Just exquisite!!!😍 Guess you & I will both have to keep playing those "numbers" Dave & maybe one day we can then become neighbors!😅

    Such a beautiful village Dave. I don't live far away but have never really looked around. What lovely cottages there are in the village. And what a magnificent church. The old coffin cart must been hard work pulling along that track.
    Those beans you saw are tic beans. They are harvested when the pods are black and the beans are very hard. They are very high in protein and ground up for animal feed.. Did you know that Micheldever Station was originally known as Andover Road. Until the line was built from Basingstoke through to Salisbury, it was the nearest rail station. Imagine alighting there and be faced with a 7 mile walk to Andover.

      Thanks Lionel. Yes, a few folk have since advised me that those beans were for animal feed! Thanks for the info about Micheldever Station. I did stop off there to take a few photos - including the massive fuel store (ex MOD - now empty I believe) just a few yards along the track.

    Stunning views! Used to visit Micheldever a lot back in the day. I used to drive trains past the village, the station being quite a walk away.
    As a bit trivia, the rail loop that passes in known as “Wallers ash.” Supposedly named after a general who hid in an ash tree during the civil road. The station used to be called “Andover road”.
    Feeling home sick for the old country watching you films. Now driving trains in New Zealand.
    Two quick questions. What camera are you using, and were did you get your hat?
    Great little films🍺🇳🇿

      Thanks for the extra information. I use a Gopro Hero 7 Black camera for the videos and a Canon Powershot SX 530HS for the still pictures. That hat was ordered from Amazon!

    Love all your walks, especially the part where you cover the village you start from, with its beautiful historic buildings, quaint houses and cottages, lovely winding lanes, village green, village shop, etc..It would be great if you could devote more time for this. In my view, not a bad idea to create a set of videos titled ‘Village walks’. Britain has such picturesque and idyllic villages, each with its rich history!!

    • @DaveFord
      @DaveFord  4 года назад

      Thank you Biswajith. I try and incorporate a bit of variety within the videos to cover different aspects that might be of interest to viewers. The main thrust of the various "walk series" are centred around a walk in the countryside and if I start from / pass through / end in a village or town then I try and include information & footage of it. A separate series centred around "village walks" is a good idea & a project for me to get my teeth into next year. Thanks for your thoughts and do keep watching the channel as there are some really pretty villages appearing in some forthcoming videos over the next few months.

    1463? We're really time travelling now. Never mind geocaching. I think before long you're going to encounter a group of highly excited 'Dave Spotters' all eagerly asking for Logan's paw print and a lift to 1066.
