This is quite an intriguing building as nobody seems to know for certain what it was built for in the guise of a distant castle but it is said to have been built a Dovecote which i find a little unusual due to its location on the top of a hill with no other visible buildings surrounding it.I hope you enjoy this quick look, typically my drone battery decided it didn't want to stay there longer haha.If you look here you can see in one of the photos it is listed as a dovecot (dovecote)Music courtest of Alexander Nakarada (creatorchords.com)

Hiya 👋 Happy Easter 🐣 I enjoy the walks too but it’s never stopped raining here … just have to try to find a break in the weather. Hopefully soon it will improve, the ground is sodden and very difficult, muddy (and slippery) to walk on when so wet. Hope to have a new adventure soon. I hope all is well with you 👍🏻🤗❤️ 🐈⬛

Hiya Jill 👋🤗 haha I don’t think I retain a lot now either 🤣 but it’s good to learn and can make videos much more enjoyable when you can relate to them. I wanted to stay longer at this site but my drone battery decided otherwise 🤣 It always makes me happy when you get some enjoyment from my content, this video I actually uploaded Three times thanks to RUclips messing about with copyright claims, I wish their Bots had more sense 🤣😡 I’m glad your weather is finally improving, we have had a load of rain, so much in fact that my garden even started to flood, this weekend we have gales forecast so that will hopefully dry out the water a bit 🤣🤣 weather can be very unpredictable now. Look like a Doocote but most doocote it have little hole on the wall for the bird to make nest and lay egg too small to be a castle interesting ruined Ray❤ 3:30
Hi Suki, yes it doesn’t look like your normal style Dovecote but apparently that’s what they say it is/was but built in the style of a castle… perhaps to make people think that’s what it could be seen from a distance 🤷♂️ Ifs definitely quite ornate for those doves 🤣🕊️🕊️🕊️🤗❤️🙏🏻
I was walking around the area this week and was intrigued as to why anyone would build a dovecot on a hill away from any buildings. The whole construction looks wrong to be a dovecot though the oldest OS maps call it Dovecot Hill. A mid-18c map shows it as a castle and given where it is and the numbers of Bastles in Northumberland, it looks more like a fortification to me.
I tend to agree Alan, although I’m not aware what buildings may have been there hundreds of years ago. It could of course have been built in the style of a castle to warn people away from a distance. I guess we will never know for certain 🤷♂️ Thank you for stopping by and commenting 👍🏻
Just a thought you should put a Google maps link to where these places are ray looking around where it might be and I can't see it. Great video again though Ray.
thank you 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed seeing it. it’s just outside the village. if you look to the left there is a farm called Homilton farm if I remember correctly, it’s in the field to the left of the farm 😃 not sure how to copy a link in the iOS app, I don’t think it provides that option
