Scariest, quite possibly, but gameplay was the worst of the series! Having to back trek to the exact same environments twice is a dumb way to prolong length. And then there are the stupid ghosts everywhere that you can't kill. It doesn't even feel like a Silent Hill game because it isn't. It was originally supposed to be a separate game with a different title during development. This trailer made the game far better than it was to play. Where is the creepy, crawling monster that makes those unsettling breathing noises? Why was the giant baby monsters frightening shrieks completely removed? Personally, SH3 is the best of the series.
+cocomapopsified well i was looking foward with Kojima's Silent Hills... in PT we can see the influence of the room (the same hallway, creepy things hapening with time, the numbers sequence and of course, the 1st person view) too bad is cancelled. YES, cuz when I saw this trailer for first time, I was confused if I saw people of real life or some special effects with real people, sure ignoring some 3d frames, but the highlights are amazing and are better in term of graphics than game of nowadays---

Just look at this trailer (and the damn Twin Victims) Even when I didn't encounter monsters and I was just walking around in the apartment I was still unsettled.

It's the scariest game ever made too. In this release they strived for more than just usual horror. Complete desolation, isolation and helplessness were the key points. The main character is just a witness and faces a lot more serious problems than just the usual physical predators; as do the supporting characters in the short run. In the midsts of the random (on every playthrough) shocks, the story of the game is intriguing. If you're in mood for the emotional and actual horror with no crutches, then it's a game for you. If suffering from a panic disorder, don't touch it. Even easy mode gives you a run for your money as there are many enemies you can't kill.
I totally agree with you, Kimmo Laine I've never played such a scary game like this in my life!! I couldn't even finish it!! Along the game are lots of jumpscares and disturbing stuff D:. Whoever that has passed this game in Difficult mode, its my hero ajajj :), I mean, I love silent hill games, but this one its too much for me xD

They didn't even need the games, really. The trailers were bizarre enough. The whole ambience of being in that room and whenever you went back you were always wondering 'what's changed this time...'... and whenever you DID go back to the room, it was always worse! You first felt that the room was a 'sanctuary' to resort to... but oh how that changed! :D
since i played this game, i had nightmares about being trapped in that room... meanwhile playing this game i had nightmares every single night, when i finished this game, it took me lot of months to recover myself from those images.. those ghosts chasing you, twin victims targeting you.. but after all, i also wanted to dream about being in that apartment, i started to want that no matters how scary would it be, but still i miss this kind of feelings in games.. havent seen a game like this again, u know that kind of desolation...

That's one of the things this games attract CG got down beautifully. Some of those post effects make the footage look like amateur ghost captures. Super high poly counts in both geometry and character models make this Silent Hill one of the PS2s and Xboxs' best looking games, (though it was tailor made for Sonys' machine.)

I don't care what other people say, this was the best Silent Hill whether you believe it or not. I mean, enhanced combat system? An even scarier experience? This wasn't about a father who lost his daughter or some psychopath husband who killed his own wife and then went to find her, it's about some completely normal guy who just happened to have the worst bad luck. I will never understand the hate this game received, I personally had a lot of fun while completing this game.
i guess that it has to do with the sh2 popularity , most people have only played sh2. And there is this gregarious aspect of it,where people repeat over and over again what other people say. Its easier to repeat other people's opinions instead of developing your own taste.

What an amazing trailer. This and the Kane and Lynch 2 trailers are easily my favorite gaming trailers of all time.
That's one of the things this games attract CG got down beautifully. Some of those post effects make the footage look like amateur ghost captures. Super high poly counts in both geometry and character models make this Silent Hill one of the PS2s and Xboxs' best looking games, (though it was tailor made for Sonys' machine.)
For me the best silent hill game ever and the soundtrack is priceless

I don't care what other people say, this was the best Silent Hill whether you believe it or not. I mean, enhanced combat system? An even scarier experience? This wasn't about a father who lost his daughter or some psychopath husband who killed his own wife and then went to find her, it's about some completely normal guy who just happened to have the worst bad luck. I will never understand the hate this game received, I personally had a lot of fun while completing this game.
i guess that it has to do with the sh2 popularity , most people have only played sh2. And there is this gregarious aspect of it,where people repeat over and over again what other people say. Its easier to repeat other people's opinions instead of developing your own taste.
