- Outworld emperor Shao Khan has sour grapes after losing to Earthrealm in Mortal Kombat, so he interrupts the ending of a much better movie to bring us this huge pile of shit. Using some unexplained magic, Shao Khan resurrects his wife Sindel, forcing Outworld and Earthrealm to merge because the Bible says the Earth was created in six days or something. Johnny Cage is disrespected, Liu Kang turns into a dragon, and Raiden isn’t even Christopher Lambert anymore. Slap on your five hundred dollar sunglasses, ready your animality, and rip out our spine, because we are about to test our might against Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Fun trivia...my Dad surprised me when I was about 10 one Saturday with tickets to the MK live show which was playing someplace near us. I expected...idk what I expected. But we went and when we arrived the first red flag was that it was playing at some old run down high school that had been revamped into a local arts theater in some small town. We go in...were two of maybe...15 people in a theater that can seat 100...and within 20 minutes of the show starting we had no idea wtf was going on. It had no fighting and was a laser light show. You could barely understand the actors through their head set mics, we ended up leaving almost as soon as we got there.
That is insane! I feel like that is the way I want to experience it. -Joe
I saw PART of this movie in theaters. One of the only movies I've ever walked out of. Alien: Resurrection was playing next door, so I went there. I regret nothing.

I always found it weird why they would give the directing job to a cinematographer & first time director. He was also the cinematographer for tales from the crypt
Originally jax's arms weren't replacements and just enhancement.
Yeah, it definitely worked better in the games than in this movie. MK:A treats it like he just slips them on like a glove that goes up to his shoulder haha! Would have definitely preferred something that actually looked like a piece of power armor than that (like they did in MK 9 if you've played it). -Sean

The guy who played Jax was an American Gladiator AND was a contestant on the gameshow "Street Smarts" hosted by Frank Nicotero - cousin of Greg Nicotero. Frank was in Wishmaster. I always thought that the host of Street Smarts being in that movie was weird. Didn't realize his cousin was a big time effects guy.
I love this movie. It is The Room of martial arts action movies.

Hey I don’t know if any of you guys knew this about this movie but the reason it’s so bad looking is because it’s actually a lot of test footage for real 🤷♂️ The final release is actually a prototype test screening version that they were showing to a handful of people and for some reason someone at the top said you know what it doesn’t fucking matter just release the footage as it is 🤦♂️🤣

you'd think having. 2 guys (Montaro and JAX) from the original american gladiator show would at least have a decent fight scene. i know the guy who played Shao Kahn was in a 2nd season episode of Deep Space Nine, he basically looked like a discount Arnold Schwarenager character plus the sidekick he had in the episode had the Austrian accent.

Mortal Kombat conquest, yes conquest with a C is currently on HBO Max. I watched the first episode. Definitely 90s cheese but not Annihilation cringe.

So basically you guys are saying this movie is like Batman & Robin (1997) lol. Batman Forever and the first Mortal Kombat are very similar. Like made a lot of money and kinda dumb but ok to watch. And yet this movie and Batman and Robin are funny as hell as the years go on like The Room (2003).

This is the worst movie I've ever seen on the big screen. Overall it's definitely down there with Avatar: the last Airbender and Supergirl 1984 ;)

My dad took me to the live show. I have pictures of me with i think Jax. It was at an actual theater. I was in like 2nd or 3rd grade so i dont remember much story wise. I remember it being more like a martial arts exhibition and it was pretty cool for what it was. I remember ine of the guys laying on his back and somehow hopping up in the air to "jump rope" while he was swinging a chain underneath himself.
