When the combination cry face shows, it hits real hard. The power of combining Shounen and Shoujo manga crying face is too powerful. Also, I actually learn a lot, especially about how artists depict character's personality through different expression for the same emotion/state of mind.
Nah, always have a fan when you're about to break up. It gives a more dramatic feel and not only that, you feel like you're elegantly ugly crying instead of just ugly crying lol
I like it how Emirichu is not saying “this is what you need to do”, “these are the rules to doing this”, or “you need to do this a specific/certain way.” No Emirichu is not saying any of this, she is just giving us some advice to making more expressions, and telling us a bit how she draws, and that we shouldn’t do something thing like everyone else does, but that we should use other people’s style/ how they do their things so that we may get an idea on how we should it ourselves.
I usually unconsciously make the same expression that I'm drawing sometimes I force myself to cry when I wanna make a crying expression Extra but its fun :3
the way you draw emotions has always been something i admire about your style, you have a real skill for conveying emotions simply with the face of a cartoon, i'm not very good at that myself, so it's nice to get tips from someone who's so good at it!

Hi Emily! Thank you so so so so so much for making this. I actually use your drawings as inspiration, and I love your videos so much. I remember that video that you made about you being a teacher, and you met a couple of kids who drew a lot. I actually wanted to use you as inspiration because of your amazing drawing skills. Ever since I discovered your channel, I thought I discovered a whole new world of drawing. Now, before I found your channel I always criticized my own drawings. Because my friends would draw so much better. Here are some of the stuff they would say “How about drawing the eyes the normal way?” Or “Ha, i’am so much more better.” It really hurt my feelings, because sometimes, my friends would call me “Crybaby” because I cry so much. And my parents would be embarrassed by telling me to. It just hurts… but drawing feels like therapy, it makes me feel so.. happy! Of course, I still compare. But, I draw as good as I can.
I just love how she draws hair, like, she draws it so simplistically and so minimally but it always ends up so gorgeous just by itself and meanwhile there's me that needs to add layers upon layers of shading just to make up for how crappily I draw mine TwT
this is actually very helpful, I’m in a period with my art where I’m confident enough to add detail without messing it all up, but I’m also not very experienced to make a good facial expression. Thanks Emily!
what i notice in mangas (mostly anime) the hair gives a bit of expression too! like if the character is sad, the hair becomes flat and droopy alittle, without losing the initial shape, and if they are happy it starts to bounce, and become really lively! thats just what i notice XD
Some extra tips that I've heard: 1. Looking up references of actual human faces also helps if you wanna work on where everything is placed and how different parts of the face react to each other. 2. If you have an idea specific way a character looks, make style guide and take notes on how you want everything to look. This helps with keeping everything consistent.
So what I got is, when the character is confused, mad or something that makes the character’s eyes look more closed is when the eyes should be drawn sharper and darker. Also what I got is that when the pupils look more dilated, the eyelashes are darker. In Emily’s way of drawing, pupil sizes, shapes and sharpness effects the emotions

The most important thing about good characters for me is knowing how they’d react in different situations, having their personalities planned out completely, but having them drastically differ from that in high stakes situations. A good example is Brooklyn nine-nine when sweet bubbly Jake turned stern and forceful when Rosa was found to be in a shootout. The irony lol..... Emily talked about how eyebrows have great importance in the vid and Mona Lisa doesn't have eyebrows 😂😂😂
@@irenethebooknerd1904 might be part of the joke... dunno
@@irenethebooknerd1904 It's official ladies and gentlemen. Emily has surpassed Da Vinci.

Hey Emily! I just wanted to say thank you so much for your amazing content! I’m currently going through depression right now, but whether I’m hearing you tell a story from your life, or watching a beautiful AMV you made, you always being a smile to my fac just hearing your voice! Your enthusiasm and positivity has really inspired me through through these dark times! Keep on doing what you do and always shine bright! 💕
I hope you get out of your depression

The way you demonstrated the "Goofball vs Stoic character emotions" reminded me so much of Tamaki and Mori, I hope they were part of the inspo lol

Of all the facial expression videos I've seen so far in life, this one really helped bring perspective & sparked more confidence & inspiration in being able to do it.

Why is this video kinda underrated? It’s 900k views which is good but not as much as the other videos sadly, I really appreciate your drawing tips, they’re always very helpful! Thank you for posting!
Zentsu is always crying about something 😂🤣
Emily: It's not self deprecating if it's true.

Emirichu: shows her face expresion arts
My reaction-photos folder: STONKS
You are so good at teaching , better than any art tut I ever seen fr
I love how emerichu starts showing pictures of zenitsu like I can see why since he does make a lot of different expressions
Ah yes my favorite facial expression, wtf
But of course!
Suffering from a massive art block rn. Haven’t drawn in almost 5 months. It’s kinda satisfying to hear from other artists about their creative processes. Especially from someone as humble as Emily.
I LOVE YOUR WORK! I have been struggling on facial expressions and I think this video really motivated and helped me thank you so much ! ❤️
