Robyn Adele Anderson and The Tee Tones (from our Miley Cyrus cover and others) are back to bring you the Postmodern Jukebox version of Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" - after all, the title sounds like it could have been a very innocent '50s song...

Can we take a moment to appreciate that piano
ikr
Bruhhh :))
I was like: ´´Dude, let us see that poor man playing the piano, he deserves some fame too´´. :v
you are kind of right but name of the group is literally "Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox" :D
He's actually the whole force behind this group.
Could you imagine the outrage this song would cause if it was released on the 50's
Either way the pronouns in this song point to homosexuality, which wasn't so accepted then. Originally, it's a girl attracted to a girl, but from a boys point of vies "hope my boyfriend don't mind it" isn't much different. Sad how ignorant the world can be.
Liam Ryan Actually it is called performative gayness. She is alluding to an act of bisexuality and experimentation without being invested in either, and within the context of a hetero relationship, which is supposed to make her boyfriend take notice. She is putting on an exhibition. This song wouldn't make it past the censors in the 50s or 60s. Into the late 70s and early 80s the homo cryptic rockers like David Bowie, NY Dolls and Lou Reed started to challenge the norm . They were famous, but as a rule did not enjoy a lot of airplay (think Indie). when they were on TV they were forced to tone it down. The fact that this song can get airplay now is a testament to how much we have evolved as a society and in a relatively short amount of time. It's a fun pop song. I say we celebrate the fact that it can even be played without trying to analyze sub-text.
***** "I hope my boyfriend don't mind it" yeah, if it was a guy there'd still be a problem in the 50's.
*****
Not so much the Hippies, but the Feminist movement (which Lesbians played a huge part of) and later in 1969 after Stonewall the beginnings of Equality for all regardless of sexual preference. Later to be known as the LGTBQ movement.
The Hippies as much as they were into free"Love" were never very organized, nor taken seriously beyond their corruption of youth mostly because of drugs, dropping out of society and not working. Whereas the Hippies elicited eye rolls, Feminists and Gays were a cause for alarm....and still are for some.

A week later and that is the best you can come up with? Much like on other threads, you try and change the subject (try being the operative word) and still have no clue about what you are talking about, not one iota of critical thought. Saying, "i like cheese" is about as intellectually stimulating as all of your comments. On other threads, your disparagement and fear of Lesbians coupled with the admission of arousal and masturbation to Lesbian porn is both contradictory and nonsensical. Your porn "knowledge" and description of porn genre, terms, like cuckolding, and history of the basics of US history weren't even correct. Your inexperience and immaturity is a given. You are probably some thirteen year old where freedom of expression and sex is verboten and everything you know about "'Murica!" is from Hollywood and TV.
Look kid we all know that you are starved for attention, even this reply is giving you a boner. You have been skulking on this video trying to have your nonsense heard since this video was put up. We have also determined that you are neither witty nor an intellect, just another kid trolling for what he is missing in his life. You know what makes a good troll? Intelligence. A good troll sucks you into a conversation so as to think that you are having a meaningful discussion. From the outset it was obvious that you had difficulty articulating your point and could only do so by copy and pasting from Reddit, Tumblr and the like. You can keep responding and humiliating yourself by showing what a pathetic whiny prejudiced attention seeker you are. It is actually quite amusing. The real question is: Will it take you another week to cyberstalk another of my comments? Go play in traffic. Have fun.
Heard Katy Perry did a cover of this.
Yeah but it sucked. She was shouting the lyrics in a robot voice from Hell. It sounded like a Nazi scientist's idea of what the future of Girl Pop would sound like. Anyone can kiss anyone, Nazi Scientist, it's the Doo-Wop 1950s!
she made it modern, too.
Well she tried...
Yeah. It was good, but I prefer this version much better
Hey. Katy's is just as good, actually a little better.
dear god if this came out in the 50s
They'd arrest her for disrupting public order?
the 50s sucked :p
Flyingvoxel nolond They might of just assumed it was written for a male singer
Jack, nope. That "I hope my boyfriend don't mind it" part would mean the kisser was gay. lol
MrTron, nope, it would have been sung, "I kissed a girl and I liked it, hope my girlfriend don't mind it."
It would have meant the guy was cheating on his girl.
Flyingvoxel nolond lolx...😂😂😂...I wonder wat wud ve happen...😀
Robyn + Tee Tones = Always amazing
Kien Tran I was just going to say something similar. Fantastic
All these videos do is prove that Jazz is the greatest thing to ever happen to music.
thinkpol Also that any girl you meet, however amazing she is, will never be as awesome as Robyn.
Michel Sallustio agreed, itms sad to see all these hayley die hars fans who only want her..this girl was pmj,if it wasn.t for her, scott and adam and a few others this wouldn.t even be a thing...plus hayley has her own career,it.s nice to see her but I.m starting to feel she is overused
thinkpol jazz is liek dubstep - without that bass, calmer drums, vocals, no drops and more melody - but close enough.
Mauro Tamm Jazz bass is best bass
thinkpol This isn't Jazz though...
She got one of those voices that you just want to sit and listen to.
Pretty useful when you're a singer :)
too held high for me =/
Sexy voice!
every song sounds 1000% better in this channel
It's like using nuclear power to power everything
My god, we can see the drummer!
But not Scott...
***** Because he's white. Scott only shows the white drummers, the racist! :D
Stewie Griffin That's not true, there are many videos I have watched from PMJ where you can see the other drummer. It's all about placement for the era they perform and instruments and performers.
***** I unlocked it too.
littlefrank90 [ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED]
This would NOT have made it on the radio in the 50's. I like it :)
xKatjaxPurrsx In the 50s she would have had and easier time singing "I kissed a horse and I liked it" rather than a girl with the censorship. Hell, you couldn't even have married people in the same bed on, say the word "pregnant" , show a toilet or the sound of it flushing in the movies/TV/Radio. In the 50s married people just didnt have sex or take a shit I guess. I wonder how the Baby Boomers got here? But it explains grandpa's fixation with Metamucil. :-)
kiss a horse is fine, but, girl to girl omgo noooo ajajajajajajajajajajajajaja
*sarcasm*
xKatjaxPurrsx I bet you do. You're gross :)
Perhaps..&/but I don't give shit. I LOVE IT !!!!
Greetings fom Poland
Imagine this song actually coming out in this period. It would have been so "riskay."
it's enough but you know (I'm sorry but no one else did it...)
Michael Rosen 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑
Duh it was a joke
holly clown probably a guy would replace the girl and some certain words as well...
I'm sorry but it's *risqué*
i know this was 2 years ago but i gotta say... its "risqué"
people would have litterally died from heart attacks if this released in the 50's 😂
No. No they would not.
@@John_Fx I mean there is such a thing as dying from too much shock, you can also die from broken heart that is a medical thing
@@John_Fx joke
Lol ikr 😅 😂
@@andpeggy5383 You're fun at parties aren't you
Robyn looks like she'd be really hard to find in a large crowd of people
***** Well played :P
....What?
oh, OH!!! OH! I got it.
i dont get it
I don't get it either.
***** hahah nice one....
I think you guys should do a jazz version of Hotel California with Robyn Adele Anderson. That would be perfect. I would die happy knowing you did that.
Hell yes
Watchman5 yess
Yes! Yes yes yes thay should totally do that!
я тоже жду )))
It would be cool
Hey Vsauce, drummer here
Naitsabes68 holy shit that was good
Thats an amazing comment bro made my day :D
lmao
Thought the same ^^
HAHAHA
Many years ago I heard someone sing a version of this song saying "I kissed a squirrel and I liked it". Since then that is the only version of that song I can think of
This video was awesome. Vocals were amazing! The background singers rocked it!
+_CelVoxis224 _ Thank you so much! We are even better live! Check us out on our website: postmodernjukebox.com/
+_CelVoxis224 _ why the past tense ?
+Andrew Galloway Referring to when he/she watched it, it's a weird way to phrase it, but it's not technically grammatically incorrect.
It's grammatically correct, in the past tense.
You forget the beutiful girl. I'm in love with her jajaj
Sounds a bit like Meg from Hercules :3
They kinda look alike too! :3
omg YESSSSS !!
I think she looks like brizzy voices
She does!!!
Payden Abbey ikr :3
Those two gentlemen singing background add so much to this.
The way she says gurl is so nice 😅
Please more Robyn?!? Her voice is so beautiful!
check out her own channel. She has lots of videos there. I think she is still part of PMJ but has been focusing on her own career tkk
+Dan Moran okay cool thanks!
Yea Robyn is awesome NO...but, if, or, doubts about it. But cmmon HALEY REINHART!! That siren's voice of hers...
I haven't heard this song in years, and it was stuck in my head all day. Now this comes out! How funny!
Illuminate!!!
301st viewer lol. Assuming you mean illuminati? Definitely.
***** If you stand on your head and have someone slap your ass real hard while calling you naughty it also removes earworms. For reasons not completely understood by science.
I've heard yelling "MOM YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND ME" and then slamming your head into a table can get rid of ear worms as well.
+Caitlin Murphy Se essa canção te dispertar vontades, e se acontecer, me telefona e me conte tudo !
1:52 gives me chills every time
NardoAndRonie mainly I start the video from this time. Everyday!
also brobro on the left is hardcore checking that girl out the whole time ahahha. and the dude on the right is rocking out hcore
I wouldn't envy any woman singing this in any decade before the 00s.
I want Robyn to sing primadonna girl
I want Robyn to sing bubblegum bitch
i want robyn to sing my life
I want Robyn to....
nevermind, it'll never happen...
I want Robyn to sing dancing on my own
Anyone else have a crush on Robyn?
ShadowGlove84
A Massive one yes :P
Staghound I do too but i prefer Sarah sh'es f*cking amazing
ShadowGlove84 Yes, since her we cant stop video i kinda liked her, but the call me maybe video its the one that really started it
Woodbridge Little Band They broke up about a year ago :( which if you think about it is both good and bad news.
yes but it does mean we see less Robyn on PMJ :(
I like to imagine this playing on a pirate radio station that only broadcasts independently produced music, the more provocative (by 50s standards) the better
The harmonies of the Tee Tones are 🌠🌠🌠
if this song actually came out in the 1950s, the singer would probably be burned
poppetjin Depends on where. In Europe she probably wouldn't.
poppetjin I think every man in America would CREAM their pants.
Geoff Wilde Most just did along with a few women, including yours truly.
Rodrigo Barbosa
You forget how big and diverse Europe is...
She would've been at least despised throughout most of Europe in those days... and worse in certain other countries.
Black R&B singers performed 'tongue-in-cheek' songs about sex, songs about samesex would have been a deffinite no-no
Robyn reminds me of Megara from Hercules!
This is my new favorite singing group.
The two background singers compliment the song so perfectly. Excellent!
I have to wonder if any of the original artists see these covers and just go "... DAYUM!".
The real reason Curt Koranic killed himself was because he couldn't make music this great :p
TheoneandonlyDrops reading that blew my mind
Rhett Hoegger it also blew Kurt's mind (too soon?)
HellspawnStudio Yeah, too soon for that
Katy had actually seen her sing “Last Friday Night”
SOOOOO much better then the original! pure amazement!
Agreed
Michael from Vsauce on drums! How sick is that?!
Um, no. You're joking, right?
Just joking, ofc. But I have to say that I found the guy very similar.
Oh. Okay!
And Louis CK on bass :D
R/whooosh
Playing Fallout 4 and singing "I kissed a Ghoul and I liked it". Hahaha I love this kind of music! You rock!
This is fantastic. Love it.
This song felt so wrong but so right
Those backup singers were great.
This really is a big gift for all of us in love with vintage stuff-lesbians, pans and bi girls 💜
I love the fact that sometimes you go back to songs you've already covered just to explore a genre more. Thank you!
Professionalità mi piace bravi
Just brilliant how these songs are wrapped into an alternative sleeve..
Still one of my fav PMJ arrangements
Everyone in BEAUTIFUL in this video. My 3 yr old son adores this too
I think this combo is perfect, really brilliant. Between the husky/feminine flexible voice of Ms. Anderson, and the smootness/flexibility of the Tee Tones... gosh... totallty danceable, singable, memorable... and the song itself... seems just great .... for so many reasons. Love you all! Elizabeth Burke, Portland, Maine
OMG I am so happy to hear from her again! She is my favorite & she does every song justice!
This Band Rocks, so good. Your piano player just nails every riff so perfectly.
I come back to this video every so often. Love the arrangement, the choreography and of course Adele. Great piece.
yessssssssss roybn is back! I love her!
Everyone is amazing. The background singers--nailed it!
Love ANYTHING Robyn sings...and the backup vocals and musicians are first-rate! 👍🎼
Can't ... stop... watching ... this channel's videos... I'm in a loop... While... Break
Robyn, a classy beautiful lady with a great voice. She's a true superstar!
I 💕 this version, tone of her voice is fabulous 👍🏼
It's amazing how a different genre can give a song such a different vibe like as if you're hearing it for the first time!
These silver oversize jackets on the guyes are awesome😆
This is terrific entertainment. I can't wait until I see their performance live!
Yet another great version from you guys, and Robyn has a killer voice for this style. I enjoy this style a lot.... Keep it up!
Liked Robyn Adele vocals, acting and back vocals
Sometimes the obvious makes the best songs. Who doesn't like kissing girls? I love it.
i cant stop listening!! my favorite cover of postmodern jukebox ❤️
Robyn is back!! Missed her voice so much, she's one of my favorites!
Everything about this number is so perfect. Mesmerizing hand gestures. Thank you!
I'm new to this genre of mixing music's like Postmodern Jukebox and others like them but honestly I love it. The purity of the music and the awesome vocals and of course the total talent has been very entertaining.
I finally unlocked the drummer! *cheers*
Robyn Adele Anderson is my my...oh my she is so great
Come to Greece guys it's unfair
A *gay* song with *black* background singers?
The 50s has left the chat
You forgot to mention the belly shirt and hip gyrations lol
Thats racist comment
race bait fail
The 50s were the epitome of American prosperity.
@@brightgarinson3099 with very high marginal tax brackets. Over 90% during the entire decade. Just shows our taxes are too low nowadays. You want 50s prosperity again? Support progressive tax systems.
She is gorgeous!
Even if a guy sang this in the 1950s, he'd be shunned for saying "hope my boyfriend don't mind it"
I mean all you have to change it to his girlfriend then it's totally straight (if you're a guy, if you're a girl it's extra gay)
He could change it for "her boyfriend"
Then it would be a story of a gay guy going straight, which would still be weird for a song but more acceptable than girl kiss girl
I wish Doowop was mainstream!
Listen to Ariana Grande's first record
Meghan Trainor lmao
Robert Taylor Bruno Mars
Robert Taylor It still is in Philadelphia.
You guys don't really know what Doowop is Google the penguins.
How if this was in the 50s, it would have been revolutionary!!! Totally love how they captured the 50s aesthetic so well with this cover
WOW, This is absolutely the BEST Version!!!
So glad Robyn is out in front again! I only like the songs PMJ does when she is the lead. Great job Robyn!
Nice! Make a cover of "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster The People. Thanks
Jere Sinena yes that be awesome 20s style
Ravenofthedog exactly what i was gonna say
I want that ... but oh no
I love the way Robyn poses with her hands on her hips all the time, but then again I love it in general when a girl does the hands-on-hips pose
Adoro esta versão!
Super top!
Yes! Robyn is back 😊
Grace K gay and 50's...is this not my aesthetic?
Tay Crooks It's beautiful
Tay Crooks James Dean was gay.
+purplelove010 Debatable. The man was certainly bisexual, and was a mainfigure for experimentation back in the day, which might have been done to advance his carrier.
Either way, James Dean was a brilliant man.
+CriticbyMidnight But a song like that would surely generate an outcry in the overly conservative 50s.
Which just makes it cooler, in my opinion.
StarkillerRX Rafael Here here, definitely true, and agreeable!
Simply adorable, all the phrasing, sexapile and rhytm changes! They managed to do the perfect time travel in the midst of all the corona and lifeless online hanging. Life and blood! Respect!
One of their best performances
I like that thing she does with her arms during the chorus
Robyn, I love your hypnotic voice, love your full-of-life look, and every single movement of your hands.
notice how the entirety of the video is the "most replayed" ;)
S-rank performance
If she's Waldo, I'm still looking. Great song, rendition and...... Adele flips my switch. Whew!
Perfect,no wonder she is PMJ.s redhead queen, hurry up and bring it to google play
amazing voices love it.
0:54 The guys' nod :D Don't know why, but it always makes me smile :)
Anything remember the old Jazz that grandpops would play every now and then
I just had a post modern jukebox advertisement on this video
Gotta love targeted ads. I've seen ads for games when watching videos of that game. It's good stuff.
PJB, you and ALL YOUR PERFORMERS are supremely talented and rock :D
I love each and every one of these videos :D Fantastic remakes :D
Ella es hermosa ❤❤❤❤❤
My heart is banging around the walls of its room.
I crush on Robyn so hard.
...and Haley.
PMJ would still be great but not the same without them.
“Hey do you think I could borrow your rug for an hour?”
Молодцы!!! Воссоздаёте ретро шедевры! Оч. круто👌👍
Cool, brilliant group
Awesome arrangement and such great singing! Now, where's the time machine to take this back to 1955? ;)
2:02 парень за роялем, это твоя секунда славы! 👏😤
Excelente calidad de artistas. Me han encantado todas sus presentaciones. saludos desde Chihuahua, México.
I listened to this 10 times in a row. It's that good
