It should be added that the Russian soldier was completely surrounded for five days, 7 km behind enemy lines, they tried to kill him with drones, he received shrapnel wounds, not to mention food. They went to clean him up, they thought he was already dead. I think that's why he was awarded the title of Hero of Russia, and not just for hand-to-hand combat. He had five children, he had to live.

Russian guy was used to survial situations due to his harsh living environment you can tell this from his mobility and skill set it played out well for him, he did absolutely everything possible grabbing the blade that's very primal and only someone who lives primal would do that. I find it interesting that the Russian's dialog was cut out from the fight, he told the Ukrainian "you fought well you should be proud"
@shakeittillyoubreakit it's a blade none the less siberians also have their own types of tools for their harsh environment I think a large majority of russia still lives in what we would call a survival situation. Totally off grid but that's normal life for them and when you see one of these people in a survival situation it's all second nature to them like hunting game rather than fighting.
As a Russian, I am interes ted in seeing this analysis of the situation. Firstly, it is worth mentioning that there were 2 Russian soldiers there, one of them was killed by a Ukrainian either in the house or before the video started. The Ukrainian was a head taller than the Russian, so he had longer arms and kept the enemy at a distance for some time. This knife is a traditional Yakut utility knife; it has no stop and easily slips out of your hands. The Russian cut his own hand because of this. When the Ukrainian says: Let me breathe, the Russian soldier has already cut his neck, and the blood is coming from the artery. When the Russian left, he put a grenade under the Ukrainian’s body armor and blew it up to stop the torment. In the interview, he talks not about a shard of glass, but about a shard of slate - roof covering. Yakut at the end of the video says “in any situation you must remain human”
For nothing, your forgot to add, while the people who sent them there still get to scroll their phones while they take a nice shit at the end of the day.
I doubt it lmao. When you win such a fight and manage to get out but apparently get back to finish him off (and therefore putting yourself in danger again) you're most likely not a decent person :D

Yeah combat can get insane…. This is extreme yes because it’s hand to hand.. I haven’t seen a lot of hand to hand combat in a recent conflicts, it does happen but it’s not common
I’m forgetting who it was but it was on the Shawn Ryan Show (I think it was Rob O’Neill) but a part in that interview they were talking about a medal of honor recipient who wrote a book and in it he was in hand to hand combat with a Taliban fighter & he had to use a rock after a while to kill this man & in it he said that there is a moment in a man’s life that they both know it’s coming (talking about right before you kill the dude) & it’s in their eyes that you see it
"This reminds me of Saving Private Ryan-the scene where the German soldier stabs Mellish, and then Upham just freezes and does nothing. It’s probably the most accurate portrayal of that moment when both are fighting for their lives, doing whatever it takes-biting, clawing-just to survive one more day."
The fear. The exhaustion. That “zone”. That pain. The submission and surrender. Breaks my heart. he’s mourning his inner child, and his life. “Bye Mom”, baring oneself to God. But for what? Why? Neither one of these guys wanted to fight. At all. But they had to. They just fucking had to.
My friend, thank you for showing this video to the American public. I am from Ukraine and I have seen this video and know the story behind it. You are not very accurate on the events that took place. The Russian soldier had a mission with his friends to raise a Russian flag over this village. However, the Ukrainian forces used drones to kill two of the four men in this mission. The other two Russian soldiers were wounded and were hiding in one of the half destroyed houses. The Ukrainian soldiers were looking for them to finish them up. Ukrainians used Grenade launcher and killed one of hiding Russians in that house. This is when the last surviving Russian soldier came out of the building and started the fight. The Russian guy was already badly wounded from the drone attack and then from grenades Ukrainians used… During the fight Ukrainian guy stabbed the Russian soldier in the neck and shoulder multiple times and that is when the Russian soldier grabbed a piece of roof slate and hit the Ukrainian in the eye and then just grabbed the knife from the enemy with his bare hands causing severe cuts. The fight continued when Ukrainian soldier asked for mercy. The Russian soldier did what dying Ukrainian soldier asked him to do.
Hand to hand combat is always the most brutal aspect of war. Literally going back to ww1 in the trenches where it was used a lot. The mentality of kill or be killed going through their heads. Respect to this hero
I think they did even more hand to hand combat in the 1800s with the revolutionary and civil war. Oh wait I forgot about medieval times. Most grueling wars of them all. Chopped limbs among mountains of piled bodies and guts spewed everywhere, etc. unimaginable.
So Hand 2 Hand combat is brutal, but shooting someone into pieces is ok then? Killing someone in general is brutal no matter if it’s an Ukrainian or Russian.

So I watched on yt 52 min "interview with Yakut" soldier callsign Tuta. Here is summary, there may be some mistakes in timeline as I wrote it from memory, not rewatching to check. On Nov 16 2024 - two of them had mission to enter village Trudovoe north of Ugledar on bike and place a flag. Bike was damaged by drone drop, so they proceeded on foot. They did not know that building they choose for placing flag was in fact Ukr command post. His comrade was off right there, while he managed to reach cover. Two ukr soldiers followed him, he got one and hid in a shed where second ukr tried to persuade him to surrender (actually stalling for time for FPV to reach them). After hand to hand happened, he took radio from ukr soldier, put a nade under his vest and after checked him in a head. Took cover in a basement with two enters and heard in a radio that after him ukr sent another 6 soldiers. They surrounded basement and began calling him - he remained silent. Then they threw few nades one after another through both entrances while he ran rounds trying to avoid shrapnel. First ukr soldier who was ordered to check on him was off on spot. More nades followed. After that smoke. Tuta soaked his cap in water and covered face. Another volunteer who decided to check on him was shot, but thanks to low visibility survived and was dragged out crying "I am 300!" After that they tried to set basement on fire, but water in 5L bottles were stored inside and he somehow managed. Nobody tried to storm him after that. 5 a.m. Tuta left basement thankfully not guarded and hid nearby. At morning ukr came back to drop into basement another batch of nades and shoot RPG into each entrance. After that they left. Tuta contacted his commander and recieved new task - recon and sabotage. Hiding at day he scouted area at night and found house where ammo and weapons were stored, house with other goods - clothes, drones etc, and yard with fuel. No guards at all. He took plast-d from storage and cooked fuel storage - he was afraid that will reveal him but ukr reported to command that storage was hit by 122mm. That emboldened him and he set material storage on fire - that is when on radio enemy agreed that Yakut survived and somewhere there. At least 10 people and APC was sent for clean up. Tuta hid in a munition storage - prepared RPG - he found RPO-A Shmel but was not trained to use it so decided not to, also tried to prepare MG but his old wound from May 9th 2024 reduced ability of his right hand so instead he prepared few AKs. When group passed by, he shot APC near engine knocking it out with RPG and opened chaotic fire with AK followed by nades. Enemy fled and reported via radio that Yakut somehow recieved reinforcement. On Nov 18 russian forces tried to storm village with armored column but were stopped by drones and bombarded by 120mm mortar. As hesitant as he was, Tuta could not bear hearing in radio screams of his comrades so he left hiding and found mortar position - crew of 3 did not notice him so he finished leader and gunner, ammunition bearer tried to raise hands, but anyway... At night he tried to fall back, but was spotted by thermals and hit multiple times by drones. He was forced to hide back in a village. Once again he left building before morning and hid nearby. Group of ten arrived, hesitant to go in - all of them in civilian clothing, hiding weapons and vests. Probably to avoid russian drones. Two women amongst them - one said "We hit him hard with drones, he bled out for sure" - young guy literally sniffed the door and said "Yeah, I think he is done". They left. Tuta decided to leave by daytime (he had a dream of his wife and kid and time on his phone was 14:28, while irl his phone was damaged long ago) - easier to avoid drones. People passed 10m nearby while he was hiding in grass and mud. He crawled about 500m until taking refuge in a burned MTLB. Inside he found dead russian soldier a bottle of water and a "Snickers". He decided to wait a day or two until rain stops. There he had another dream - all his 5 kids shivering from cold, and eldest son told him "We cant stay, we need to move". So he left his cover next day and continued to crawl through the fields, avoiding treelines as they are point of interest for drones. At some time russians made another attempt to storm village and all focus was on armored column (damaged MTLB where he was hiding was also hit by arty). Tuta used it for a run. Some shots were fired his way from column also. His friend offered to pick him up on a bike, but that would mean focus of FPVs so Tuta refused, but asked to make double shot every half an hour so he could keep direction crawling in tall grass. It was about 500m to hangars when he noticed drone above him. He picked radio "Hey, pal, is that you above me?" - "No! That is not ours, run!" As he dashed to the nearby hangar, drop exploded behind him and another later in front of him. That was last on that drone, so Tuta showed few international gestures and reached safety. Aside from 3 knife wounds he got in close combat, he also got 14 shrapnel pieces from drone strikes. Some of these were removed some left inside due Also few additions: Whole operation took him 6 days and he barely had something to eat as his supplies were in a backpack of his comrade shot first. They were second pair to enter village - first fell to drones. And his first dream was about his dead comrades walking area and showing him "Look, here is danger zone where they got us" - when he woke up he remembered that they were hit in a complitely different area. But when he tried to leave village he was wounded around place they showed him in a dream. So in his interview he concluded: "Spirits of our ancestors do not leave us in a time of need and try to warn us through our dreams". That is why he followed two other dreams I mentioned above. While he was running fields and drones were flying above him to armored convoy he tried to shoot them and took down one Baba Yaga. But from the direction of convoy started shooting at him (or at drones) and he decided not to try join them or positions in a treeline as he was covered in mud - to avoid friendly fire. When he reached buildings on outskirts he heard voices inside and could not grasp what language it was, as it was windy outside, but for sure not russian, so he quietly passed by - uncertain if that may be ukrainean foreign mercs. Turns out that was his friends speaking yakutian - those who made warning shots for him. He was not aware of bodycam video until his brother showed it to him. He could not watch it in full as it was too difficult to relive that fight again, also was surprised of how long it was - he remembered barely a minute of that fight. Also could not remember what exact words they exchanged with ukr soldier but reviewing record concluded: "He also a human, a warrior fighting for his motherland, just as I am. Somehow, anyway... we have to keep some humanity [in us]". On Jan 11th he was awarded "Hero of Russian Federation".
Ucrainian guy defenetly did a lot of mistakes and underestimate his oponent ,may be he though the siberian guy had a rusty shovel instead of ak and a knife?
So to add some extra context here, from studying this event from the Drone observation perspective, and the GoPro - as well as both the Russian & Ukrainian Military's official comments on the story / interviews - here is my analysis. There were two Russian Soldiers, and two Ukrainian Soldiers - the Ukrainian's had two Drones (one Observation Drone) and one FPV drone. The Russians shot and wounded "Haza" the other Ukrainian (specifically shot by Andrei Grigoriev), the Ukrainian (Haza) had fallen injured in the engagement. The Ukrainian with the GoPro (Dmytro Maslovsky) killed the other (Nameless) Russian Soldier, causing the last remaining Russian Soldier (Andrei Grigoriev) to flee, and the Ukrainian was in pursuit being guided by an Observation Drone / radio. The Ukrainian was guided towards the house over radio by the drone, the call was made to engage the house with an FPV drone, causing minor shrapnel injuries to the Russian Soldier (Andrei Grigoriev - as you see blood on his face as the hand-to-hand combat begun). The Ukrainian (Dmytro Maslovsky) now begins to engage the building where the last Russian is hiding. The Russian shot the Ukrainian and wounded him, it is unknown where he was hit but given that blood was dripping on his forearm / then hands when he bent down it's either he was shot in the shoulder or the neck. The Ukrainian throws a grenade into the window, causing Andrei to quickly escape the building prior to detonation. The Russian attempts to pre-fire the corner but the Ukrainian grabs the gun and that's where the fighting begins. After the fight ends, they break off, a small talk from the Ukrainian, video ends. From the Russian account, the Ukrainian eventually asks for a mercy kill (this is a little disputed as the Russian Soldier has given two contradicting accounts on this but high stress can cause memory loss so it can be excused) - Andrei states he placed a grenade underneath Dmytro's plate carrier, but video clearly shows Andrei standing at a distance as detonation goes off - so this part is up for dispute. The Russian soldier then shoots the Ukrainian as the Ukrainian survived the grenade detonation. The Russian (Andrei) now attempts to escape, and is refused evacuation - he is instructed to hold position and if he cannot hold position to push forwards to locate more trenches / command centres. Andrei demands evacuation, but is still denied - claims he is being hunted. Russian Command now gives him an order to hold position and wait (pre-assumedly for evacuation). Andrei is now being targeted by drones again, and a Ukrainian kill squad is sent for revenge. During that evening / night as Andrei was attempting to hide, he managed to kill two more Ukrainian soldiers that were hunting him. I believe he then held his position for a few days until he was evacuated. Final comments, Andrei notes that the Ukrainian was not equipped with a knife, it is not standard issue in the Ukrainian Military supposedly - or this soldier did not see a use for one. The Russian soldier had this knife forged by a local Blacksmith in his hometown prior to being sent off to war. He left the knife at the scene, and was given a new one by his Town Officials / now is being presented as a hero. Andrei does not like being called a hero, and struggles to speak on this story. He takes no joy in this situation, but as of January 10th - he has been redeployed back to Ukraine.

This one was hard to watch, I've followed the war since the beginning and seen a lot, but to see struggling, biting, yelling, and rolling in the dirt fighting for life, then the human factor come into play.. It was surreal to see that in real time. There's also drone footage of it, the Russian throws a grenade at him at the end as he leaves.
He clearly gets hit at the start. Blood on his hands that wasn't there prior to the shooting starting, and he actually kind of hints at being hit later in the fight about bleeding out. I just don't understand why he was moving on a small structure like that both out in the open and also by himself. My biggest question watching this video initially was where on earth are his battle buddies. So many questions.
You can hear him calling for his buddies to come help, but a lot of the frontline troops on both sides are conscripts and you can tell by his handling of the rifle that he isn't very proficient with it. Likely his friends ran away, didn't advance with him or he advanced too far.

The reality is, no matter how much you've trained or how much you think you've prepared for it, when confronted with a knife, if you can't run away, you will be stabbed, weather you win the fight or not
You're correct. I did some knife training ( lots) and if youre close/in reach you will get slashed (or stabbed). And mind you, slashes are wild. It's a wide open gushing wound down to the bone, not some little cut. I've also seen some cop videos of knife attacks. Youd be surprised how quick an attacker can cover some distance. 20 to 30 feet are almost instant. That's why cops often shoot as soon as a knife comes out, they know.
@@mysterioanonymous3206A retired police officer said in high school to us:"If he got a knife, just shoot him". He even showed us his leather jacket why. It was poked
@mysterioanonymous3206 I remember when I was in the navy (seabee hoorah) we did a class called expeditionary combat skills. We took turns wielding a knife and rushing the other person who had a gun about 10 or so meters away with their back turned. The exercise was can you shoot the guy before he stabs you. They'd say go and he/she sprinted at you while you tried to rack a round and fire. Out of the 30 or so people in the class I think only 1 or 2 got a shot off. And the people that did get a shot off didn't even get a chance to raise the weapon to center mass. AND to add to a real world scenario you don't have someone telling you you're about to be charged with a knife. So needless to say if someone is even remotely close to you with a knife (20 to 30 feet) you're chances of survival are already extremely low. This is what people need to understand when they hear about cops shooting a knife wielder when "they weren't even close".

My buddy's mother in law stabbed by buddy's fiance's ex because he was beating and abusing her for years, the ex was always bruised, stiched and plastered up until her mother had enough. She stabbed multiple times to chest area aiming to the lungs and heart. When mother in law described the incident to me it happened very similar way as in the video, first there was a brawl and tussle and when the mother hit some area that got the abuser hurt really bad he knew right away the fight was gone off of him so he just asked the mother not to hit anymore and just let take his final breaths in peace. The mother described it like he was fighting for the pain for a minute but then he turned into this calm being just accepting his faith, as if all the pain and suffering was gone, he was able to say how he knew he's not gonna make it and how he's afraid to die (he was 22 yrs old) and asking for forgiveness. So yeah, it seems people know they're hurt bad enough the fight isn't worth it anymore and you come into peace with it.

We should do everything possible to avoid war, this is the reality of it. Not the cool equipment, the epic ads of Heroes charging into battle, the fame and glory etc. It's absolute hell, people die, you lose friends, limbs, maybe even your life. Even when you come back you feel like a stranger in your own home, glimpses and memories of the horrors haunt your dreams and nothing ever feels safe. War is something that while sometimes may be necessary, should be avoided at all costs and be seen as something to avoid. Its not something to glamorize, to cheer for, and sure as hell isnt something to be saw as glorious. it's a beast than takes the young and chews them up.
There’s actually a video of this fight on a drone that witnessed it from overhead and I’m gonna tell you it’s even worse than the POV. I’m in the same boat with you. I’ve been watching this war since it broke off and this one was one of those ones where it was hard to watch. Semper Fi brother You Put up a hell of a fight
Go to r/combatrootage and sort by the most popular for this month. It should be one of the first couple of videos. It's way shorter, though, and doesn't change your perspective of the fight much.
The ukro nazi? I hope you realize that they were the ones who started the war by shelling Donbass for 8 years. Then Russians had enough of that shit. That ukro nazi went straight to his buddy Hitler in hell.
I think it’s good to feel empathy for both combatants. Neither would have chosen to be there on their own. Both were just trying to survive. Politicians bear the responsibility for the murder on both sides.
Bro you really think that Russian solider just trying to survive ? He arrive to neighbouring country to kill their family sons and dads . Just to get his money .
This is a childish, stupid position. To say that it’s all politics. This is the problem with Western thinking. It is not politicians who press the button to send missiles, it is not politicians who rape women and children. This is what Russian soldiers do. And they themselves decide to do it or not. I see them regularly and they and this Yakut came here only for one goal and that goal is money. 200 000 rubls every month.

I'm fairly certain that the "compliment" of saying he's the best fighter in the world was his attempt of getting this guy to stop and not finish him right then and there. You would do and say anything to get the other person to stop at that point when you know you're done for.
Possibly. But there's almost always still an unspoken code of honor that warriors and fighters live by, when you don't respect your enemies as you would your ally, you are damned to fail. They're all fighting for their brothers beside them, on both sides. Both have family on both sides. So it's a 50/50 as to if it was genuine or not. It's not like the fight was "personal" between the two; they both had their respective job to do, putting their lives on the line, which is more than most can say, which brings a sense of respect and honor within it. I honestly believe (my opinion) that it was a genuine compliment. With the state he was in, there was no chance of survival either way; whether he said it or not. So the fact he even used his remaining breathes and energy to say it... at least to me, means that he meant what he said.
Thumbs up, subscribed. Very sad to watch happen. When it comes to this point this conflict needs to stop now. This is what happens in wars for those on the ground fighting on the front line. Not a video game or other new stuff that is issued. This is real, and people suffer extreme physical pain in conflict before they pass over and leave this life. Non of these wars are worth the pain and suffering to everyone involved.

This vid is highly recommended for all people who say "You have zero chances to go melee in the modern combat". Carry the damn blade and train to use it.
"Train to use it" Don't be ridiculous. These two guys that died there, were conscripts that didn't even spend a whole week on training field before they got shipped to the front line. Some of them were not even taught to never turn on their phone when they are on the zero. And you talk about train to use it. Same could happen with you - today you are a civilian, living your life, and tomorrow you are going to train for a week and go into full combat with raids across the grey zone, but hey, atleast you might know how to use a knife, in case those artillery shells miss you, bullets miss you, grenades and FPVs with drone drops miss you. You simply cannot train for something where you just should not be in the first place. I say shame on the commanding officers of these fallen men in the video, because they could have prevented that by stopping them from advancing, training them adequately before combat, and being more active in using better resources and ways to clear that territory.
@@21Pogon Well, I generally agree, but it never hurts to prepare yourself. Unfortunately, wars and even small military operations rarely go by the book, in most cases it is just chaos.
Dude,..you only show 3 seconds of video at a time, then talk forever...shut up for a couple minutes so we can watch and listen to the video..then tell us your reaction....
You are not interessted in a detailed review of it then. In a battle situation 3 seconds is a full load of detail. I know you are probably just here for your own lowly entertainment, so either comment something of worth or watch it while rotting away but then don't comment.
It's a reaction. You're supposed to talk a lot. In fact, not talking can be ruled as a copyright violation as it would allow you to watch the vid without interruption and thus wouldn't be adding anything new to it.

Its one thing to shoot at the enemy from a distance, never really seeing each other. It's another to engage in hand to hand, specially with a knife. Noone won that fight. One man got to move on to the other side, the other stays here but dies inside. He'll remember that everyday for the rest of his life.
It might be their culture but he had that thousand yard stare in the video interview, still broke off when it was over, he's probably churning over it internally

Everything is simpler. You just stop paying attention to death. For us here in Ukraine, it's normal. Sometimes we laugh that people shouldn't react to death as if it's a normal thing. We laugh that normal people will look at us as mentally ill.
Does anyone remember the moment in All Quiet on the Western Front when a German and French soldier met each other in a similar way and left each other similarly too?

Theres nothing romantic about war, the movies and novels romantisise it but it boils down to violence of action, and usually the strongest most violent guy survives, the one that is trained the best in dishing out violence of action is usually the winner. Its terrifying when you are getting stabbed, i got stabbed in my side then he stabbed me in the neck, and things go downhill very fast, obviously i lived, only just i lost a lot of blood, and even though i didn't feel pain at the time you feel the strength just leaving you and then the lights went out
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas. If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy. Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements. Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns. 20th September, 2021. Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO NATO is not a defensive alliance. NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter). We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster? Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest. Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland. Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”. Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it. Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country. Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list. Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list. There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence). The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present. Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave. Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) R.I.P. The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims). The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter. I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion. I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written. Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.

Literally since beginning of man.

Some of these were removed some left inside due
Also few additions:
Whole operation took him 6 days and he barely had something to eat as his supplies were in a backpack of his comrade shot first.

Congrats on turning a 10 second fight into a 15 minute video

Yes, I saw the interview and also the drone video of the fight. sad, because actually both peoples are brothers.
I'm fairly certain that the "compliment" of saying he's the best fighter in the world was his attempt of getting this guy to stop and not finish him right then and there. You would do and say anything to get the other person to stop at that point when you know you're done for.
yes, I am a native speaker, and you could here from the tone of the phrase that our guy just wanted the Yakut to fu*k off.
Of course man, you can even hear that in his tone. The russian guy deserves full respect for letting him be after he surrendered

It’s not his first fight
Plus the guy has 5 sons, war is his income and in Yakut culture being a warrior is part of the culture

Theres nothing romantic about war, the movies and novels romantisise it but it boils down to violence of action, and usually the strongest most violent guy survives, the one that is trained the best in dishing out violence of action is usually the winner.
Its terrifying when you are getting stabbed, i got stabbed in my side then he stabbed me in the neck, and things go downhill very fast, obviously i lived, only just i lost a lot of blood, and even though i didn't feel pain at the time you feel the strength just leaving you and then the lights went out
Then stop supporting Ukraine, simple.
Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time
Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards.
Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO
NATO is not a defensive alliance.

I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written.
