Hey guys! Another fantastic reaction and commentary! So, going into the episode, no spoilers! - Cat & Brienne: this part always gets me teary, because it is very clear that the relationship isn't one-sided, but rather mutual. Brienne pledges her sword, counsel, and protection, and in exchange for that Catelyn promises a place in her home and at her table, and to never ask for service that might bring dishonor. Please remember the wording of these vows, especially from Catelyn's side! - Shadow-baby: the Lady Melisandre is also called a "shadow-binder" in the books. This particular word might be worth thinking about? Also, your reasoning surrounding this particular event is based on the conviction that people would even believe that a shadow did it. - Bran's dreams: I agree with you, Osha seems scared of Bran's dreams, and their symbolic meaning. When he dreams of Ned, he says that he saw him in the crypts. He didn't say he saw him die, but Starks are put in the crypts when... they die. What do you think the sea coming to Winterfell and waves crashing over the walls symbolize? - Ser Jorah Mormont: also called Ser Friendzone by the fandom :D Need we say more? - Wildfire: did you notice what Wisdom Hallyne said about wildfire and it being the key to Targaryen power after the death of the dragons? It ties in nicely with what we know about the Mad King Aerys and what he did to Lord Rickard Stark, Ned Stark's father. Remember that from the Histories and Lore Season 1? - RIP Renly, had he worked with Stannis, instead of fashioning himself king, the war would probably have been over by now. Maybe. Who knows? - What Littlefinger wants: he told you exactly what he wants back in season 1, during that s*xposition scene in his brothel. It's worth revisiting, perhaps. - Allegiance colors: I'm surprised you have Pycelle as brown, when he so clearly said he has always been a faithful servant of House Lannister! - What do you think of Arya and Jaqen? - I wonder why we don't see Jon and the Night's Watch on the map? It might be useful in order to understand where that entire storyline is going as well! Can't wait for the next one!
I was in deep contemplation on Pycelle for sure. I will change that for the next episode!, Jon and the nights watch is only because I am a little confused about where exactly he is currently. In relation to the larger nights watch force. I do remember that part from HandLore So am I correct about Lady Tyrell and Baelish? hmmmmmmm The Arya and Jaqen has me stumped on where it will go in the future, I realize he isn't from westeros tho
Dude I absolutely love the map! I have watched this show start to finish more times that I can even remember. Ive also watched dozens of reaction channels watch it from start to finish. Some of them had a very basic map and would show where main characters wrere and I always thought it made it so much better and easier for the reactors to follow. But this software that your using for the map is AMAZING and it really helps show the big picture and your understanding of why the characters are moving to different locations. You guys are both doing a really amazing job!
That's my goal for sure is to get really deep into these worlds and come at reactions from a fresh way. Alot of reactions are all very much the same and I like trying to push the genre a bit.
I loved the break down of the map and the possible troop movements and house allegiances. It’s cool to see your thought process; like a chess player evaluating moves and counters. It is the game of thrones after all.
Wow I really like this! I love the way you show the map and come up with possible battle strategies. As a long term Thrones watcher, it offers possible battles that could have happened and different paths. Hell plans that would have better for certain clans and people.
I very much enjoy the breakdowns, I love diving into this world and looking at it critically in POV of each character. I am really glad you all are enjoying it too!!
@@ImmersiveReactions That's really awesome. It shows that you are really into it. I wished all reactors would be like that, in fact. It's really worth to watch a reaction this way as It's more than just another reaction. And GoT is worth it. Such a complex World. And it's the perfect show to do that, really.
@@ImmersiveReactions that's great. I can definitely see it. Does GoT give you inspiration? I remember when various seasons of GoT were about to come out, people would go off on theories. Especially for the last Season.I must have written books-level content on theories and storyline possibilities. lol
Yes! Love the map addition to the breakdown. It is nice to see the people and troops. I think it will be fun watching you move pieces around as the story develops.
I really enjoy the map. You made some really interesting predictions, especially about the troop movements. The safe, not safe, probably gonna die tiers were also fun. 😆 Also, thanks for putting out 2 episodes this week! It was a treat. I know it's a lot of work. ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I think s2 conveys the idea of The War of the Five Kings very well. That's why, probably, there is no "anchor" character in the season. Also, if we're going a bit too meta, Starks family and Ned Stark in particular were used a set of characters through which we are introduced to the world (outside of Daenerys in Essos, which is a thing of its own). Through Jon we see the Wall, through Ned wee see King's Langing, North - Robb, Catelyn - in between things/The Vale. Imagine if s1 was like s2, the world would be properly confusing to the viewer. I agree with the general feel of lots of moving parts, but trust me)), the pay-off for this weave of plotlines is insane. I've always wondered about what would happen with Renly/Robb alliance, would it even happen? Oath of fealty in the majority of cases isn't a just a pledge of alliance, it is a pledge of vassal to his liege. Catelyn was right to ask about the wording of the oath. Although, overall, her diplomatic mission was a relative success until it wasn't. I think Renly meant for Robb the thing called "royal privilege" (the real thing in middle ages), which would allow Robb to keep his title as King in The North, which would appease his bannerman, while also being de facto oathbound vassal of The King of The Seven Kingdoms (Renly Baratheon). I guess we'll never know if Robb would've agreed. Theon situation is just sad, although I have almost no sympathy for the character in s2. He tries to mimic Robb's conversation with Greatjon Umber about "drag you out of the keep and hang out as an oathbreaker", but these people are not northmen, and Theon doesn't command respect at all. With each move he makes, he tries to find himself and who he is in this world, and he slips and falls every single time.
It is such a sad thing to see him grovel to the authority in front of him. He doesn't recognize that he is being taken advantage of by his father the moment he entered the room. Questioning his manhood the instant he entered the room. Not taking the responsibility of losing his son through his actions. Theon should refuse his father. He grew up with the Stark children maybe not as equals but not in a cell. His flip is my biggest disappointment in a single character so far.
Other than the death of Renly (Stannis is a man of honor, yeah, right) this episode had little real definitive actions. Theon is a child, expecting respect and command due to his lineage, which even his father and sister laugh at. Obviously, his crew was underwhelmed. Stannis now appears to have the upper hand with more forces than the Lannisters. Will the Lannister wealth and wildfire prove more useful than soldiers. Daenarys is marking time with no followers, three very small dragons, and no real power. Cersei seems more interested in fighting with Tyrion than the war, and Tyrion seems to be trying to do what he can. Everyone else seems to be in between action. Bronn is the only character who knows what he is doing and has the ability to do it.
Rest in peace Renly. If you had more initiative and marched your army down to Kings landing before Stannis arrived he could have made himself king. Maybe the red woman could have still Demon babied him in the Red Keep but at least he would have died as a real king
True very true, I am with Catelyn stark, Renly was hesitating on what he should do. He didn't realize there were more hungry players in the race 2 steps ahead of him.
Actually I trink Daenerys has no birthright for the throne any more. The Targaryen lost it when Robert beat Dany's father. The birthright went to Baratheon family and the Targaryen's have to win the Throne again. So Stannis is the only one with the birthright.

the map part was great

I love your battle plan thoughts! I have only seen that done by the channel Invicta for season 8, so don’t go looking there yet!
I am glad it's such a slamming hit with you all!

Yeah, she has a claim, but when she is talking about her being the "rightful" ruler she is technically wrong within the laws of the land
