  • If your second generation Toyota Highlander had been giving you random alarms in the middle of the night for no reason, the first thing to check is the underhood switch. This switch is a known issue with Toyota, they upgraded the part. To verify that is the problem, you can bypass the switch by splicing the wires together from the switch to the connector.     Really appreciate your video! Question for you, would just disconnecting the sensor connector fix the issue? Or is it necessary to cut the wires and splice together?

      The circuit needs to be closed to disable that section of the alarm, so they need to be spliced together.
