I've downloaded the application the other day and found some groups that seemed pretty interesting but never really have contacted a host or attended any of them. I'm too introverted to "meet up" with some strangers through that kind of app I guess. At least you've given it a try and were brave enough to actually get yourself out there so I think you don't have to feel bad about the experience at all.
I also enjoy going to karaoke by myself when I'm stressed out :) Going alone, I don't have to care what others would think about my singing or have to wait for my turn. Karaoke is one of the perks of living in an asian country lol Wanna see you sing my chemical romance one day ;D

Thank you for sharing your story! I’ve been to three meet up groups. The first group was okay semi nice people but no friendships developed. Second one only the host showed up and he was late. The third group I ended up leaving the group because there was a lack of consideration for others. I’m so tired of people being self absorbed.

I've had similar experiences on meetup. I went to one in person meetup and people were nice but older and in a different life stage so it was harder to relate. I found some meetups that meet on zoom but every time there'd always be some dominant personalities that took over the group. One host had a meltdown and starting being hostile to people. I think I'll try out some other non-meetup groups but I feel more at peace in my own company than with difficult and domineering people.

@@katec9893 I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience either. Since my last post I have been to a few more groups met one person but after our second hang out we went our separate ways. She wasn’t the person she represented herself to be. I met her in a hiking group and she said she loved the outdoors but she wasn’t able to hike. She was more of a walk in the park person. And after our hikes she always wanted to be indoors. I’ve also noticed a lot of the meet up groups in person don’t meet on regular schedule. The ones that do are private and want personal information and I’m not going to share info with someone I don’t know just to meet up. It’s definitely not easy meeting new people now days! But I’m keeping my options open, you never know I just might find the right group of likeminded people or make a new friend. Best of luck to you!

I agree that singing karaoke in a large group is pretty boring and annoying. Spot on when you described how long you have to wait your turn, and how everyone else isn't even paying attention, just chatting about which song THEY want to sing.😡 That being said, I dislike going to karaoke by myself since there's no one to impress or laugh when I sing badly. Also, you can't do duets.🤔 I prefer going in a group of no larger than 4 people.
Sidenote: I hated karaoke before I went to Japan and it took months for my friends to convince me to join them. Now, I love singing karaoke...but not in the US, bc it always takes place in a bar and you're surrounded by strangers. 😔

I understand that each one of us has his own personality , and the interests of people are different from each other, it is natural that you did not like that place because I guess maybe you have a quiet and shy personality cause I don’t really like to speak to a big group of people too so sometimes i feel like I’m a shy person and i hate that thing in me and I can see that your personality is very sophisticated and beautiful , but you have to have greater self confidence and try some times to go out of your comfort zone even if it is a bit strange and annoying ... I felt like I wanted to tell you these things and I apologize if you bothered you with anything from my words

I love it and hate it at the same time. Usually, people who use meet-up too often are little bit twisted, so that's why they have to pay money to meet people. If you pay money, people. will not go away even how abnormal you are, but people will go away from you if it's a non-paying social environment (ex. school, company or party). Normally, I don't like people who always be there in the same meet-up event. They don't have life outside meet-up. They come on every weekend and some people come everyday. When do they work and what their families are thinking about them? People who m I meet and never will be seen again in meet-up events are the nicest people in that event. Frequents in meet-up have a lot of problems and I don't want to befriend with them.
