I totally agree with Nan. Chiang Mai is a wonderful provence with a rich history. In my travels to Chiang Mai I have been astounded by the beauty of the area, the people and the food.

We love your videos, Nan. A correction about Tha Phae Gate. Originally, there were two walls around Chiang Mai, the brick wall with the moat still seen today, and there was an outer, earthen wall called Kamphaeng Din. (Some of Kamphaeng Din can be seen today along Kamphaeng Din Road, and also just south of Ku Haeng Corner.) Being closer to the Mae Ping River and a raft landing, the gate in the Kamphaeng Din was called Tha Phae Gate. The gate now known as Tha Phae Gate was called Chiang Ruak Gate. In the 19th century, the Tha Phae Gate became known as "outer Tha Phae Gate" and Chiang Ruak Gate became known as "Inner Tha Phae Gate". When the gate in the Kamphaeng Din was dismantled in the early 20th century, "Inner Tha Phae Gate" simply became known as Tha Phae Gate. There is a monument describing this in Thai and English to the right of the current Tha Phae Gate.

Hi Nan, Thanks for a very informative and captivating video, so engagingly presented. How is “Nan” written in Thai?
May I suggest that in your videos, you include the names of the tourist spots, foods, etc, you feature. This will facilitate tourists communicating with locals who are not conversant in English, in seeking their help. Just save the Thai names as screenshots on your mobile and use them as necessary. Efficient and foolproof. Thank you.

Did you say a car rental cost from THB400 /day upwards? Please share rental shop.
I have been renting a car from CNX for years and the best I could get for a Nissan Almera is THB700/ day for a 7 day rental period

Traffic in Chiangmai is quite forgiving, slow and leisurely, a bike is ok if someone has ridden one before...in chiangmai people do not even beep their horns, this is not road rage manic type place.....its quite safe.

Chiang mai is a great place to have a bike if you have been on one before. Cheaper than public transport and saves you walking for hours.

5 places i would not go in Chiang mai, there are a lot better places that are not on the tourist map, In Mae Kampong you can not even park a car, all mass tourist traps, and were do you rent a car for 400bt a day?
