    Why didn't he use the Aero bike?
    On a climb like that, wouldn't that make a lot of sense?

      That climb is deceiving. The first 12 km is rolling and you would probably gain with Aero, but there are several km of 10 - 16% plus the final ascent to San Sebastian is between 7 - 12% and 3 km of cobble ;)
