It's so charming seeing an oldies-style RUclips intro like that used so recently
RisingJericho thank you! 😁
@@ZachDarvin what if my screen just go black. Nothing happens
Jordy Try another game just to check? Based on experience, there are some games which may not work. Another thing is FMV might not work well, so you can skip it.
@@ZachDarvin i mean not even mcboot logo appear.
Jordy is your system compatible
Dude is so amazing , I was penning ide harddrives the past few months on fatties cuz I was scratching my head on how to do it with a usb drive on a slim with a shot disk drive I’ve had for a while now . Happy to know I can still keep it alive
Man i solved an underlying issue. I couldn't help but notice your content and style is straight to the point, your great all around!
You should lower the volume on the background music and sound effects on the future. I appreciate the video.
Thanks. This is one of my earlier vids, back when I was trying to find the right mix of BG music and voice sound. I believe I had some progress with my more recent vids. :)
Dude you're awesome! Thank you so much for this. My ps2 disk lens doesn't work anymore so you basically resurrected it! Thank you!
Just subscribed after checking out a few of your videos. Good stuff man!
Great video, love how he got straight to the point and kept it simple to understand . Good Job
There are SO MANY videos about FMCB, and somehow the only legit guide is this random video from 2 years ago, great job! 👏👏👏
Sir you are awesome! Finally I can play my PS2 Slim because of boredness during the pandemic! Greetings from Las Piñas!
Joey Boy Mission I just installed my own FMCB. My 2 latest video tutorials discusses that.
thank you for such a great video! i think i will try this as well, since playstation games are hard to find where i live :) have a nice day
Awesome! Just pump up the energy a notch and we're golden, mate 👌
That wholesome intro deserved a sub from me. The rest of the video earned my notifications. Great content my guy, keep it up 👍
I missed playing ffx so i tried using my ps2 slim last sunday, but the ps2 can't read it as a ps2 cd 🤷🏻♀️ idk if it's the laser problem or the cd is just too old.
But I'm glad i found your video since now i have 3 options to proceed.
Have a dvd burned with my game
Have the ps2 cleaned since it's really old so maybe the laser will work
And if neither work, have it cleaned and then order free mcboot online.
This is so helpful, i know there are remastered versions available on steam and ps3 & ps4 etc. But i cant afford any of those and miss the experience of playing games on my old ps2
Dude you’re the best thanks!
Thanks dude. I've watched other videos and yours were the most helpful
dude you are awesome i was trying to find a tuto like yours pretty clean and easy to understand, thx =)
Great video bro, very easy to follow.
Perfection style video and easy to watch. I gave you a sub
paolo ciccaglione thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I'll be following your steps after while to do this, definitely looking forward to it.
Did mine yesterday, been play DBZ BT3 ever since, i almost wanna cry 🥺🤣🤣🤣😁
AWESOME! I was about to give up on my fat and slim PS2s because their disc drives were no good until I seen this video! Thanks bro! 😬😬
Thanks for this video , it was very helpful :)
Glad it helped!
Sir ask ko lang po, kapag ba naka mcboot na-sasave mo din ang mga save files mo? Or hindi? Thankyou so much!
Pwede mag save dun sa card
Ahaha king Fb
@kilua Hiroshi may OPL din?
@kilua Hiroshi try to add the games via usbutil
@kilua Hiroshi possible na di compatible ang flashdrive na isa sa ps2. Better if mga USB 2.0 flashdrives kaysa yung bago na USB 3.0
What a fantastic tutorial man! Thank you very much for you help.
THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN, EXTREMELY EASY EXPLANATION!!
Very good tutorial. Very straight forward. Is there a way to keep the settings to auto read USB permanent? And I tried with USB hdd but doesn’t work. Any advise on that?
There is a save settings button on the main menu of it
And also he mentioned it was slower on usb lol
Thanks mate your video has been useful to me. Couldn’t understand why I wasn’t able to see my USB ISO but I solved by changing the settings :)
what settings did you change?
i have the same problem it don’t show my iso on the loader. I have the iso on / DVD folder. :/

Can you recommend a site to download ISO discs?

Does anybody know how to fix a black screen whenever trying to start a game from opl?
Whats that "system volume file" in your usb is it neccessary when launching it in ur ps2?
KingstonTG no, it isn’t. It’s just a file my usb created on it’s own.
KingstonTG no, it isn’t. It’s just a file my usb created on it’s own.
That is correct. It's because in (his) windows, the uploader on this vid has enabled in his folder options to see hidden files and folders.
So yes, disregard.
Great Video. I appreciate your thorough approach!
Hi! My version of Free McBoot is also 1.8, but I don't have the Open PS2 Loader option in my menu, any other way to access it?
You're awesome, thank you so much!
yooo so when you got the ISO file and you put it into the flash drive you dont need to rename it ?? I noticed you just dragged it over and kept original names ? thank you so much for this video !! very helpful
Yup. But I guess it helps renaming it to shorter ones (I usually just type the title of the game), removing other texts like the numbers some sites at to the roms.
GG Fist Bump ok awesome !!!! Thank you !!
GG Fist Bump last question i have a MacBook and I see the flash drive is already at fat32 and DEF JAM FIGHT FOR NY is 4.69 gb can I still drag it over ?? I have a 128 gig flash drive
D. Wade how do we do this on a MacBook ??
I never rename mine and I have one that the name is really long
Can you use say a 64GB or 128GB usb stick if they are formatted to fat32 and is the PS2 slim usb 1.1 or 2.0 as I thought the videos were affected on start up of games?
Thanks for the vid man. I was about to buy a used ps2 console and i got curious on what mc boot is and how am i gonna play. Now I'm certainly gonna get it to enjoy some of the older titles :)
Ummm can u still show us to put free mcboot in our own memory card. Does the memory card size matter?? Like the one u have is 8mb soo u could save few games or it wont matter??
LandOfSand You can install free mcboot on any PS2 memory card. It’s lightweight. Anyway, the games will be on USB. I just can’t show it now during quarantine as I have my PS2 in another house and I can’t go out to get it.
@@ZachDarvin im waiting for that video too my ps2 cannot read CD's thats why i wanna play via usb
Hey bro can I run this game in without mc boot memory card
Stone action Gamer What game? Bully? You would need still need a free mcboot. Or a physical Disc of the game.
Really helpful. Only problem is my opl has really low graphics for some reason and games are darker. Anyone know what the problem might be?
Amazing video, very simple and it works 10/10. I'm playing DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2 right now!
how to know if mcboot is installed in the memory card or is it by default
You have to check if the freemcboot menu loads when you open the PS2 with it inserted. You either have to install freemcboot or buy one from sellers that have it installed.
@@ZachDarvin oh thanks a lot
sir if i dont have memory card for ps2 is it gonna be ok or not?
Edgardo Yap Unfortunately, you need to have a Ps2 memory with freemcboot installed. USb flashdrives alone won’t work.
@@ZachDarvin Will it work on a 4GB and/or 8GB USB Flash Drive?
dude your vid is best thx you got this done super ez!
I ordered ps2 and I am waiting for delivery so I have a question if I have to have modchip if this ps2 (slim) is from 2006? Shall I install free mcboot on 64 mb card or not? Size matters?

I did it and it works all well, thanks 😊
Does the PS2 needs to be jail broken? Are just a factory stock PS2?
What's the largest USB flash drive it will support?
hey there again can u plz tell me that does mcboot delete the data in my memory card
Dudeplayze You can still use the game for saves. Although I’m not sure if it’ll delete previous saves if in case you’ll install it for the first time. Thinking about it, you would need a bit of space to install the program. So I guess if there isn’t any space, you’d need to delete.
@@ZachDarvin thanks bro for so much help
@@ZachDarvinwhat if my disk is broken ? Will it still work??
Any games that are larger than 4gb then you may have to use a program called usbutil
Joseph Asad thanks for the recommendation!

For folks here that are having serious lag issues, try plugging the USB stick into port 2 (the one on the right). I've had better load / video response that way :)
What about on a PS2 fat dawg

You guys completely missed the joke. Fucking idiots lmao
I know that most of games out there allowed to save before changing the disc. But, if that's not available, did Free Mcboot have 'change disc' function?
Sir Zach what do you do when you encounter when the game doesn't load a certain cut scene or it stops loading at one point. I'm using a 2.0 16gb usb.
Says a mojerity of PS2 slims, then shows a picture of the 9xxxxx series!
The 9xxxxxx series looks roughly the same but without the black strip in the middle
Hey there just followed your steps, the game boots up for about a min or 2 then it freezes as i progress any solutions? Thx
KdotBdot 5 try to defrag the file? It’s also possible it’s freezing with FMVs. Just skip it with start.
I need help with this I downloaded dragon ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 I've tried launching through opl none of the files appear and I've formatted my USB to fat 32 it's on a fat model
Tho I'm able to find the file in thing called ulaunchelf but because it's not a elf I can't use it

What's the difference between adding game to USB with USB UTIL and without using USB util ( like you did in this video )
And what do I need to do If I want to upgrade my old opl system. Do I need to delete my old opl system and add a new one?

Hey Bro, nice video I will try this when I buy a PS2, I was just confused as to how you are supposed to save the game progress onto a separate memory card, is this possible? Thanks for the straight forward tutorial. In the future can you also make a video on how to burn ps2 iso files to DVD disc and also how to install hard drive. I really appreciate it.
If i use a hard-drive instead will that solve the lag problem for cutscenes?
hi. I bought a few ntsc games to play on my pal console. Is there a way to run the game off the disc using free mcboot? or do i have to use iso and run off a hard/flash drive?
Would i still need the 007 game to get free mcboot installed if my PS2 is a fat model and isn't modchipped or anything??
