    My cheese pie is a family fave. I don't bake mine like you do. I use 8oz cream cheese a can of sweetened condensed milk and 1/3 cup of real lemon juice. Pie crust is the same but I mix my filling in my Kitchenaid mixer and pour it into a graham cracker crust and put it in the fridge overnight. Yum!

    Hey, I have been watching your newer videos lately, but came back to this one today. The thing i REALLY love about your videos (and i watch a LOT of food/cookery RUclips channels) you take some time to explain the way old recipes are written. I also have a lot of old cook books from my mom and her mom and they are not as nicely explained in todays language like youtube videos and other digital sources are now. Its a tell tale sign of your experience and it really sets your videos above the rest for me!

    We had a house fire back in 1999 and lost everything. What I miss the most (besides photos) are my recipes. Ever holiday I try to find the same Christmas cookie recipe, that was my mom’s. You can’t imagine how many variations of sugar cookies there are. Just a simple sugar cookie! I haven’t been able to find the exact recipe that tastes exactly like the one I lost and can’t remember the recipe exactly either. So it is so important to share recipes!!! Thank you for sharing yours.

    The best pie ever

  • @NanasCookery
    @NanasCookery  11 лет назад +1

    You should chill it for awhile but you can easily make it in the afternoon to serve that night. Just make sure to let it cool to room temp before chilling it. I think most cheesecakes taste better if they're taken from the refrigerator about an hour before serving,but because this is not as dense as regular cheesecake you can serve it either way.

  • @NanasCookery
    @NanasCookery  12 лет назад +1

    I'm confused. Your comment appears on the cream cheese pie video which uses a graham cracker crust ,which is definitely browner than a regular crust. The regular crust should be a golden tan color. Your mother had a good tip and it's great she shared it with you. I sometimes do use your tip and it's when the edges look done but the pie itself is not,so you can protect the edges and continue to bake the pie.Thanks for your interest.

    I've said this is a learning experience for me too,but when will I learn? I don't know why we don't have the finished pie on the video.but that said-it really will look very much like it did going in the oven..It will firm up some and look a little firmer around the edge,but it will still be white.

    That pie looks amazing! I have always added lightly sweetened sour cream to my cheesecakes. The same method as the pie you demonstrated here.I always add it, close to the end of baking time and it adds a wonderful taste, along with filling in any cracks that may have occurred.This seems like it would be a great alternative to the very huge Cheesecake's that I bake.Thanks for sharing!

      @NanasCookery  10 лет назад +2

      I'm glad you like it. I've made 1 1/2 times in a 10 inch pie plate but never doubled in a 13 x 9. As I recall I baked at the same temp and just kept an eye on it. We know what it looks like when it's done.that's all I can suggest.

    Hi Gloria, I finally got my cornea transplant on May 2nd. I had the procedure called DMEK in my right eye. On August the 16th I was given a laser treatment and now I have almost 20/20 vision. I have to wait several months for the cornea transplant in my left eye. Still even with only one eye I can drive, go the movies, read and cook. Fuch's cornea dystrophy is very disabling. Is your husband doing well? I worry that I could suffer rejection. I live in Canada so we have long waiting periods. By the way, you look great in your red sweater and apron. Your hair looks so great too! I am 71 and don't have the courage to let my hair go grey. You are great!

    • @NanasCookery
      @NanasCookery  8 лет назад +1

      Glad to hear about your successful transplant and good luck for the next one. I know all about long waits in Canada for procedures .My family is mainly in N.B and N.S. and the waits are horrendous.We do have medical problems in the U.S. but if you have insurance care is very quick.My husband also deals with macular degeneration wet and gets shots every six weeks. This getting old is not for the weak! My hair went white in my 50's and luckily I love it.You';re practically a baby.I'll be 79 in two weeks.

    • @joellespice1010
      @joellespice1010 8 лет назад

      Nana's Cookery I had looked into private care in the US and I was told there was a month wait and 2 weeks to get both eyes done. One after the other. It was just too expensive. I saw my regular optometrist a week ago and he was telling me that he wants to see me yearly because of the macular risk. He said that the steroid drops cause problems. My husband puts the drops in my eye. He is very careful! In the US as you say if you have insurance you are taken care of very fast. We used to be that way until "the government" decided to make us all equal. So we all wait for months. The system is also running out of money. Our care is rationed. If it's matter of life and death we are fast tracked. Get my sight back in my right eye is such a miracle. Keep on going as I enjoy your videos. My new toy which saved us aggravation when I could not cook was the electric pressure cooker. Without it we would not have eaten a lot of veggies. Do you have recipes for the electric PC?

  • @kamiko70
    @kamiko70 7 лет назад

      I'm confused.I never said I don't like cheesecake .I especially love my pumpkin one but the reality is that they are very rich after a full meal and the average 9 inch cheesecake serves about 16 people which means you won't normally make it for your family on a regular basis. This is just an alternative which as I said in the video makes it possible to enjoy it as an every day dessert. I'm sorry you don't enjoy my videos. I have enjoyed making them and hearing from the viewers.
      Nana
