Flapperdoodle 45 Yeah, Adult Swim felt that there was “little that they could do with the characters.” I always looked forward to watching the shorts before ATHF came on.
I love how the green spiky one was pretty much just a bystander who just played along while the orange one was doing all the teasing. It's amazing how much personality these characters have and how much they contrast each other, and all this makes for a hilarious and honestly well written short.
That's the magic of Aqua Teen man, nothing really "happens" in any of the shows but all of the characters play off of one another so beautifully that it's consistently entertaining.
The best part about it was that you had to watch the whole season that Spacataz took place in in order to originally get to the end... so it was a short inside of a short.

There was serious potential in the idea of a series featuring severely incompetent, space-faring "villains" trying to out-dumbass one another, perhaps with other side characters joining in on the idiocy. Shame the pilot wasn't picked up, it could've been great.
I know, right? It could've involved the Mooninites traveling around the galaxy, visiting other planets, and getting into hijinks with other aliens, and the Plutonians would do the same in their own episodes. And the two duos could have a long-running rivalry that serves as the focal point of certain episodes, where they try to find new and more creative ways to get back at each other. If they did crossover episodes with The Brak Show, that would've made it perfect! And maybe Zorak and Brak could go on to become the third duo in the long-running feud. And Adult Swim thought the show couldn't go anywhere? Hell, I'm not even a TV producer, and it only took me two minutes to think that up!
