Thank you so much. As a beginner I was tearing my hair out trying to understand the basic instructions with my waistcoat pattern, I nearly gave up! Your video made it all clear and has given me the confidence to carry on. Thank you :-)
this is the best double welt tutorial I have found. I have watched it several times to make sure I get it correct. It is easy to follow and easy to do.
I'm an experienced sewer but could not make welt pockets and watched at least 5 videos. Colleen G Lea is brilliant because she actually made it simple. Too many other people are way too confusing to me. Thank you for sharing this!
Oh, this is amazing, thank you! I was googling this for two hours, but picture tutorials are so confusing and I was getting frustrated. You explained it so well, simple and step by step and in the end it was so easy to make! Thanks a million times :)
I just wish you were my teacher during school. I would have learned everything much easier. You're making my overall review a breeze. I really really really appreciate and use everything I see you put up. I have a student now and when I want to give him a visual I pull up your blog. Thank you so much.
Thank you Colleen for explaining in such a detailed but easy way. I also watched your video on sewing a lining for a dress and I actually sewed it successfully. Now I can’t wait to try this pocket on my jacket. Thanks once again.
I did it! Barring a few issue with the thickness of the interfacing and stitching in the ditch, I did it! I was using scraps so no harm, but I'm doing it again with a thinner fusible interfacing this time. I think It'll turn out EVEN better. Thanks for the great tutorial.
So that's how you do that. Thank you very much. When ever I get asked how did I learn to sew I will have the honor to say I took a few courses from you. ;)
I went to London College of Fashion and we learnt a slightly different way of getting the same effect. Although that could possibly have been me just not gett it. Your method is so simple to follow
Hello Deborah, What course did you study? Did you enjoy the experience of being in such a vibrant environment? There are a couple of different methods I know of to get the same result. Sew happy you found my tutorial helpful.
Not only are you a good teacher,I think you would be fun to hang around with..I've been a fan for a long time, just changed my name..best wishes Bill a man who sews..
Wish I'd saved this properly at the time. It's just taken me days to find it again. I've waded through dozens of videos but none are as simple to understand than this. Bx
I had just added welt pockets to a skirt I'm making but wish I had viewed this tutorial first. That was a lot less complicated than the ones I did from another tutorial. Thanks Coleen.
You are a perfect teacher because I did it nice. I watched lots of videos but and it seems so difficult but when i watched yours...my so easy! You really helped me a lot. Thanks so so much...
Wow! Thank you so much. The pattern I was using gave elaborate "foolproof" instructions and I was completely lost. Your video was exactly what I needed to get the job (which I was ready to scrap) done. Thanks again!!
Thank You sssssssso much!!! 🙏🏿 You have made the task of welt/jetted pockets super Easy. 😍 Wishing You continued Success, Abundance, Love and Light!!!❤
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I'm actually getting ready to make a pair of pants that have back welt pockets. I've never done welt pockets before but your video defintely make them seem so much easier than what I read in the pattern directions. I appreciate the time you put into making these videos, you're a fantastic teacher!
Thank you for the tutorial. Pockets has been one of my greatest challenges in sewing. Found ur series on pockets very helpful. It would surely go a long way in making it easy. Thanks again
Fantastic tutorial. I never fully understood this process until now. Your videos are helping me achieve a dream I have always had of making and eventually designing my own clothes. You should know that your work gives people knowledge and happiness :)
This was a phenomenal presentation. I did see that the pocket had a bit of construction issues. The welts were not equal and the stitching in the ditch still showed on the right side. However, for the sake of the video and basic construction, it was perfection. Another tip I would add would be cutting some of the self fabric and top stitching it to the top portion of the lining pocket, so when the pocket gets opened, you see some self fabric, basically, a facing. Another tip is to baste the welts shut. So you can comfortably stitch in the ditch, I understand that the pocket tends to "misbehave". But this video definitely shows that welt pockets aren't difficult to make and it could add lots of character to the garment.
My pleasure. People don't realise how much work goes into something like this. Both the sewing and the putting together of such a concise video and are too happy to get all this for nothing. Saying thank you is a small thing. Bx
Hello gatt be. It is also referred to as a 'Jetted Pocket', that is what I grew up calling it, the welt pocket is also of a different construction, if you learnt to sew in the UK. Thank you for sharing.
Girl, you are just sooooo goooood!!! Thanks a million I thought i had to have a special welting machine for this. Thank you, I'll definately be trying this.
