It took me two days to try & figure this out after having watched some general felled welt pocket instruction videos. Thank you for yours- sewed perfectly ‘working’ with you step-by-step!!
Finally!! I was looking for someone to do the welt pocket this method because most videos I see are this new “hack” way where they just fold up the pocket bag instead of sewing a separate welt piece onto the pocket bag. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this tutorial Karina. It is a lot easier to follow than Style Arc's instructions. I was about to attempt my first welt pocket on Style Arc Spencer woven pants. I'm so glad I watched your instructions first!
Thank you for the tutorial. I struggled with the welt pocket on the Cindy jacket, the most difficult part of construction. Anxious to give the welt pocket another go Thanks again.
Hi, Karina. Thanks for the great tutorial. I believe that on your Janome machine, the target-like button next to the needle up/down button will stitch in place for about 5 stitches. That can be done at start and stop places, and you don't have to worry about tying off the threads because they are already reinforced. You might try it and see if it is a help to you. I really like using mine.
Thank you for the tutorial. Welt pockt is not that complicated after this. I made it now, from totally another type of pattern and worked perfect. key is to see which line is going to match with what and which side of the pocket/pocket bag. thanks again!

WOW Karina, yes this was GREAT and you make it look really easy. It's probably just me, but I can totally see a jacket with different colored welts, I think the combination you have in this video just as a sample would look cool with a pair of jeans actually. I have some shorts coming up for the husband and I think it calls for welts, but can't remember if it's double or single. Great video!
Excellent tutorial. Very easy to understand. I can't remember Karina, have you done a zipper tutorial? It's so many years since I did boys trousers I'm not as confident. I want to do shorts and trousers for my 3yr old granddaughter and almost 2yr old grandson. If you have done, guidance please as I obviously cannot see it for looking...
This video is right on time. I just made a vest, and I want to add a welt pocket to the front. I do have a question. Since I am modifying a pattern that does not have a drafted place for a welt pocket, do you have a suggestion? Is there a formula or a rule in terms as to where to place a welt pocket? Thank you.
Where to place is all up to you. For reference, the rectangle here is 4 3/8” by 6/8”. You just need your pocket pattern pieces to be wider 5 3/8” and then as long as you need. The welt needs to be 5 3/8” by 1 6/8”
I really can’t do that because that would vary depending on the size you are sewing. Also, I’m not happy to share specific dimensions of already made patterns.
Don’t worry, I won’t get rid of them. I need to find a place to get them sharpened but haven’t found it yet. I have a tape measure of hers since 1978 :) They are keepsakes.

Brilliant tut thanks

Great tutorial. I love the contrast welt.

Thank you for all the hard work, thats one to keep. 🤗

Me too!

You’re welcome :)
Thank you for the video! You made it look so easy and uncomplicated. Making a jacket that requires welts, your video was so on time!
I hope it helps!
I love how you demystify sewing techniques. Taking the fear out and at same time emphasizing and showing the importance of precision. Thank you!
I’m glad this is useful for you. Thanks for watching 😊.
Excellent instructions! Thank you so much for the close up details. Beautiful work!
Thank you. I will try your sewing techniques I also like how you simplified things!
Thank you for this tutorial. It is something I want to use as embellishments often. Your step by step is excellent & very easy to follow.
Thank you so much 😊. They are pretty aren’t they?
Thank you Karina. It seams to be very easy this way 👍
It actually is. Just needs care and accuracy but it’s just a few straight seams.
Awesome video! Thank you!
You’re very welcome :)
Thank you for the tutorial. I struggled with the welt pocket on the Cindy jacket, the most difficult part of construction. Anxious to give the welt pocket another go Thanks again.
I hope it’s more enjoyable now.
Thank you for this tutorial! I found it instrumental in drafting and sewing (for the first time!) welt pockets for a jacket :)
Such a helpful video for single welts. I may need pj pants with welts now 😁. Thanks for sharing this, it’s going in my helpful sewing video list ♥️
Pjs with welts lol. I need to put them in pants.
Totally Awsome, thanks a million
You’re welcome 😉
Woo hoo, thank you! I have been avoiding certain patterns that have welt pockets, now I don't have to!😊
Lol me too! But it’s not that bad right? It’s a skill to keep doing so it’s not forgotten.
Thank you for this video!
You are very welcome :)
Brilliant just what I needed . You are my angel. Lol
Thanks for this excellent tutorial, Karina. I've used a different method for welt pockets (long ago) but this one seems much easier!
There are many methods. I’ve figured out the easiest way for me and wanted to share.

Thank you. My fear of welt pocket has now gone. I do like to pocket colour combo. Lol 😆 xx
I’m glad to help. They are lovely on clothes and we just need to practice.

Thanks for the great demo. I appreciate the contrasting fabrics that you used. Have you ever done welt pocket on a reversible garment that is unlined?
I haven’t sewn a reversible garment that is unlined because the pockets would be seen on the other side.
WOW Karina, yes this was GREAT and you make it look really easy. I sort of can see the fun in the contrast color pockets too. I’m just too silly for not making welts in such a long time. It’s not that bad at all.
Excellent tutorial. Very easy to understand.

I’ve done a fly front zipper tutorial. It’s here ruclips.net/video/-iF2yaCOs6U/видео.html
I understand 😅 thank you very much ❤️
This is the best tutorial! Thank you Karina. 😊 just one question, will I be able to do this on a tweed waistcoat. I'm worried about the bulk.
This video is right on time. I just made a vest, and I want to add a welt pocket to the front. I do have a question. Nice 👍
It would be nice to have some sample dimensions. Like width ratios for welt and pockets pieces , etc.
I really can’t do that because that would vary depending on the size you are sewing. Also, I’m not happy to share specific dimensions of already made patterns.
Is it possible to do this by hand without a sewing machine?
Hand sewing is how everything was done before machines. Sure. It would take ages and your sewing would need to be accurate. I’d prefer a machine.
Karina, don't get rid of your mums shears. You should get them sharpened by a professional. They are good metal ones.
Don’t worry, I won’t get rid of them. I need to find a place to get them sharpened but haven’t found it yet. I have a tape measure of hers since 1978 :)
They are keepsakes.
