Damn that sounds awesome! I love how no matter what amps/cabinets you use, your tone is always so sweet and distinctive. I've only just gotten to the stage where I'm finding my 'sound' and I find your videos really useful in understanding how tone works etc. Thanks!

I bought one of these for my rackmount fly rig for rehearsals and small live gigs based on this demo. The thing sound great! I purchased A Rocktron Widowmaker and Lexicon MPX1 for the rack which I will power with the Macht 402. The bad part is you have to buy them from Europe. Mine has been in transit from Germany since November 24 and has not yet hit the states (no update in the last 20 days). The company I purchased through said DHL likes to ship via overseas sea transport. I think the boat sank somewhere in the Atlantic. Dying to get my hands on this thing after hearing how great your rig sounds.

Hey Lucas, try wet/dry with the helix and a second cab.
Drives into splitter, one part dry to poweramp, other part (wet) with mod, delay and reverb to the other side.

Sounds great. One thing that I just discovered is how amazing Eminence Beta 12a speakers are with guitar. They are affordable, has EV characteristics, but more clarity like a JBL, not bright piercing, scooped, pokey or too boomy.
I grew up using Celestion 80's and 65's so even EV's can be a little "pokey" on the top to me. I almost always roll off my highs at aroud 8K at the end of my chain. The thing I like about EV's so much is the way they handle the bottom and never get flubby when there are just one or two speakers. So basically the insane headroom :P
@@LucasFowler I just realised I typed beta and not Delta. The Delta 12a (not the pro) has a ton of headroom, 400 watts, the high frequency is lower at 5k, which I prefer as it is more pleasing. The resonant frequency is 55hz. I usually use vintage 50s and 60s Alnico speakers, the uncommon ones. They are not high headroom but sound great. I proved to a handful of people that they can do metal, which is humorous. The Delta is clean tight with the right articulation, while not being once so ever bright.
possible to run it with one channel for mono set up and leave another channel without speaker load ?
Hey, cool video. How bad is the fan noise on this one?
I have a tube rack power amp that sounds really good in rehearsal but i'm at a point where i hate switching it on at home because of the excessive fan noise.
If you wanted to ditch the cabs and mic'ing up, could you simply use something like a DI with speaker emulation, and have that sent to the Mixer/PA, and run it like that??

I guess that depends on what you consider noisy. It is audible in a quiet room, but you wouldn't notice it when you're playing and definitely not in a rehearsal or on stage. I've had a couple Mesa tube poweramps and the fan in the Palmer is noticeably less noisy than those. I can't imagine a situation where it would be loud enough to cause an issue. If you were recording a cabinet powered by it, the noise would be softer than the acoustic sound of your guitar strings.

So in other words, in order to know how to get a really great sound you have to be somewhat of a rocket scientist? Or at the very least a master electrician with a major in audio engineering? LOL..
All Marty did was plug that 55 Gibson into that old tweed Fender amp and his sound was awesome!! hehe. When I first got back into taking the guitar serious one area that I had no clue about was the amp area. I had no clue what it meant in an amp description when it said "50 presets or 100 Presets" I just knew I needed an electric guitar amp lol. I didn't hang around with musicians, funny about that too since I have always been so "musical" but none of my buddies I hung with were into those things. We could tear your car apart in a half hour and reassemble it and it would run better, but nothing about guitars lol. This is how i got into the modeling amp world and am still there to this day lol. I don't gig and have no plans or desires on gigging so for me my Fender GT 200 amp is perfect. But I am finding myself, after watching guys like you Lucas, more wanting different things. I actually broke down about 10 months ago and bought my first ever guitar pedal! I actually bought myself a Cry Baby wah pedal!! Guess what? You can't use that on a modeling amp!! Lol the only place that it can plug in at and actually work puts the amp in a sort of default mode and none of the presets work and none of the other adjustments work either, it's basically a slightly dirty sounding weak amp sound you get, but the wah pedal works!! lol. That is when I learned that there is an effects pedal that Fender made specifically for these amps that has a wah pedal on it. But, I do plan on getting a regular amp and then maybe get into your world of having a bunch of new toys to play with lol. I have another Fender Mustang 3 amp that the master volume control stopped responding on, I think it just needs a new pot but I am going to rig the speaker and cabinet up with a smaller solid state amp I have that is not a modeling amp and see what I get lol.
You can absolutely use a wah pedal with a modeling amp! It's really easy, you plug your cable from your guitar into the input of the wah, and then a cable from the output of the wah into the input of the amp and you're done! Of course the wah has to have power from an adapter or battery.
You definitely don't need anything near the amount of stuff I'm using to get a great sound. The reason I use this stuff is for ease of control and switching mid-peformance. Once I get things programmed in I can switch from my clean sound with delay to a drive sound and then a lead sound with delay and overdrive with one button push. As a singer/guitar player, being able to change lots of things with one button is very helpful :)

Hello, my Macht 402 cuts off when not inn use and the green lights go red. Is there any way of getting the green light back on without pressing the power button on and off?
I haven't had that experience. I would email Palmer about it, they are very responsive and helpful.

@@LucasFowler Hello, I just realised and remembered there is a tiny grey standby switch behind the amp, it was engaged so that's why it was clicking off. I disengaged it, now it is fine. By the way, nice gear, are all those guitars behind you yours? If you have time would you be able to demonstrate them in a few videos with your Axe FX? Thanks 👍
Your dirty tones are over saturated in my ears, I understand we often gravitate toward such but brother your's are dripping all over the sphere, too much mate for sure, modellers are often tricky little buggers to get in the zone with at the best of times and your tones demoed here sound more like like a 'post' grafting into an already committed mastered recording, there's not a lot live-sounding about it by the listening here, I too use a modeller/multi effect configuration and one of the biggest traps to fall into is over applying delay/reverb effects particularly by default unfortunately, I think the best solution is to only ensure your end game is sent to full range cab/s via a clean power amp only, filtering is best left to the ears on the player and nobody else if they are worth the salt initially, even though I'm using full range cab/s via as I've mentioned I'm easily achieving killer live-instant in-the-room/space feel and ambience with ease, including fully tube sounding feel and bight to literally wet your pants over in every setting mate, I've got a background in super live and recorded tone and often I've been asked to reveal my gear and it's tweaks because it obviously passes even blind tests I've had a lot of fun conducting for mates when they hear me live or recorded to match....it's preferable to remain on the easier to achieve and maintain consistent tone excellence with modeller/multi stuff for certain...good luck man!
