I have 3 Vaer watches (DS4, S5, R1) Love all of them. Great company, quality product with exceptional value for money . Awesome video, really like that A12 Dirty Dozen
I did have to use the 'compass' function about 55 years ago in the Arabian desert. It was only between 5-10 degrees out! Brilliant. I would also like to remind people... is the sun where you expect it to be? I was driving (as I thought) back home a couple of weeks ago from a location I did not know... I pressed 'home' on the car GPS, and after about 20 minutes, my brain kicked into gear... why was the sun on the wrong side since I should be going South? I had touched the wrong destination on the GPS and could have gone in the totally wrong direction until I ran out of gas!
X one more tip. If you have a GMT complication on your watch. When the GMT hand is set to the current time. Point the hour hand to sun and the GMT hand will point to north.
I like my Casio G-Shock solar powered watches. I have one that is analog. I have one Casio G-Shock solar watch since 2011 and it's 2024. Never have to change batteries!
Hey X, nicely done video and thanks for the good interesting content. I dont see little stuff up close without reading glasses so i switched to an analog watch a couple of years ago. I sprang for what i thought was a better watch and ended up buying a Citizen. It struggles to keep time and their warranty service wasn't able to replicate the issue (3-10 minutes lost a week) for $300 I expect it to keep time. I am sure these are better but my next watch will be a Timex, Casio or something similar that i dont care about what I spent on it.
I just received a Swiss army field watch from my uncle in Pittsburgh it’s really cool I need to get a band for it hopefully nato looking idk but it’s sweet I love it
My wife got a smart watch for me, for Christmas, I do see why a lot of people love their smart watches, but before mine I wore a gshock and there are things I love about it versus the smart watch and vise versa. Overall I think I like my gshock more but I like the smart watch and what it offers. Biggest gripe in my opinion so far is the fact that I have to charge it nightly where as I liked the ease of not having to worry about making sure I charged my gshock. But I guess I charge my phone nightly so it’s just a part of the routine now
So I’m looking at getting a new watch and have landed on a dive watch tbh but after watching this video I’m like maybe I should get a field watch so I mean I have no idea I’m just dabbling into watches now. What was that coupon code by the way?
I’ve always got an automatic watch on my left wrist; for the last couple years it’s been my blue Black Bay 58. When I’m out hiking in the woods, I put my Garmin Instinct on my right wrist, too. The squirrels don’t care that I look ridiculous wearing 2 watches.
@@tazman66gt18yea but ill take a topo map on my wrist any day over just telling the time. In a real wilderness emergency, id rather risk haveing the garmin. Trust me, it aint no apple watch
I’d like to take a moment of silence for that watch. lol. Jk. But how durable are these watches? With your military background, would you wear any of their watches in the field? I’m looking at their ds4 tactical. Just wanna know your thoughts.
I personally prefer rhe cheap watches. I have an expensive, nice watch that i rarely wear. I prefer the cheap one because if i scratch it, catch it on something, bang it into something or any one of a number of things that can and will damnage a watch its no big deal. My current watch is a casio I've had for a couple years now and is still going strong. Thats just my preference since i seem to be hard on watches.
Do you watch nutnfancy as well? 😁 He does the same, as do I, but no smart watch for me. Two casios at the moment. One (w735h) for vibration alarm / timer.
Have you ever made a "dad to be bag" for when its time to go to the hospital and survive there a few days while the new baby and wife get released....any essentials other than phone charger and socks ? Anyone? Tips?
Something to entertain yourself. I bring an Xbox or handheld gaming system. Bring your own blanket. Your girl probably can wear her own robe so bring that for her. If the hospital doesn’t have free snacks plan on food for yourself. Your girl won’t be allowed to have solid food until after birth. Bring her Apple juice, jello, and ice cream if that’s allowed.
Hah! I have a $30 Timex Expedition Field watch. The thing won't die. I am a carpenter and wear the thing in all sorts of nasty conditions. The lexan crystal has never broken and the battery ran for nearly 5 years. Won't be caught out in public wearing it but it keeps on ticking despite the abuse its received over the years.

Would you recommend the company for someone who’s tough on there watches? I wanted the tactical but no one has really talk about the durability.

smart watches are a threat to humanity....i wear only mechanical and quartz waches since a couple year ( i dumped my forerunner 945 )
That land navigation/ orientation trick is pretty cool! Thanks X 🙏

Unfortunately I got bit by the watch bug a long time ago and I have never financially recovered since
Appreciate this video! Thinking of getting this watch. What is the precision like after wearing it for a month, any idea how much it's off by?

I have a few watches. Mostly Seiko and Orient dive watches. I’ll straight wear my Apple Watch on my other wrist too.
My smart watch feels lonely
It hurt my heart watching you hit that watch with a rock.
I'm currently wearing a Ministry of Silly Walks analog watch that my wife gave me for my b-day.

That’s why you get a Garmin Fenix 7X smartwatch, compass, and maps + 30 days of battery
Then they can track you
can't always depend on the digital world.

I got the c5 tactical quartz then not even a month later they came out with the automatic 😡
Would you say it’s a work horse watch. I was gonna get the solar version but I’m on the fence about it.
@ I’d say go with an automatic I think there is an option

Why not include a button compas on the watch band?
I just don’t like the way it feels on my wrist
im one of those crazy individuals that wear both one on each wrist, smart watch for me is just a media controller and tap to pay

I’ve got a $20 Casio analog from Walmart, anything more is unnecessary.

Anything more than anything more than goodwill clothes are unnecessary
its simple its called sun rises in the east and sets in the west so if you know where the sun came up or goes down youll know witch way is north lol
the A12 is 900$...!!?
Handmade by the Swiss folks plus that movement and accuracy
It is still a lot of money for a analog watch. @@MarineX
@@natashaball316 I concur
@natashaball316 its an automatic mechanical watch, not a quartz watch.
Timex analog
