This has been going on in the Corporate world for as far back as I can remember. Empathy won't get you ahead in the business world, only having a callous disregard for other people's feelings, and treating other people as objects required to subsume their individuality, integrity, dignity and at times decency, to achieve the goals of their team, and by extension the company, so long as profits are being generated.

Socialists will blame private health care, but the NHS acts like this with its staff (and worse in some ways).. Continuous Assessment, automatically suspended for breaking a protocol to save a life.... Private healthcare is actually far less draconian and pays and treats its staff better. The only way the NHS treats staff better is allowing more leeway on (long-term) staff health problems..
      --
BUPA (large UK private healthcare provider) will lay of staff who pull loads of sickies or have a long term health problem that prevents them from working, the NHS continues to pay them.. Try wearing a cross in a UK hospital and you are suspended, offer to say a prayer and you're sacked... as an objective Atheist, myself.

    Pros:
The acting and production design were amazing. 10/10 for both of the actors and 11/10 to the production designer.
The world-building was also pretty cool, although a bit confusing at times. The gimp dude was a neat touch.
    The cinematography was decent.
Music was great, but the mix could have been better.
The direction and atmosphere were both great.
    Critiques:
The story was a bit confusing since we don't get a whole lot of background as to what the character's job really is, so the twist wasn't very effective (at least to me).
The dialogue was hard to hear at times, especially from the actress.
The plot wasn't very exciting and there wasn't any real conflict besides the pregnancy thing - which, again, is hard to connect with since we don't know the female character's background. I think it would have been more effective (to me) if the 3rd act had a bit more urgency, but I guess that may not have been what the director wanted.
All in all, I would give this a 6.5/10. I definitely enjoyed it, but I wish there was a bit more. Great job to Zach and his team :)

seems like hes a paramedic in some dark future where big pharma is head honcho. he was about to break psychologically so I assume the bosses set him up with a blind test. to see if he'd stay on track. the dudes who hauled him away are clearly from the security division of said company. on the darkness thing... I think you might want to calibrate your monitor or something. I saw everything and everyone just fine.

It was pretty easy to follow, some future where the medical industry is run by big pharma and his job score depends on his obedience not the outcome of the patients. He was close to being promoted but was given some moral conflict when he had a connection with someone and didn't want to lie to them. Turned out the whole thing was a trap to see what he would do in such a situation and he was hauled off by his employers and demoted.

Really good. Shows also the power of the feminist movement at the top - anti male at any cost - and how they usurp many fine women by playing out the victim. The guy did what was right. He gave her a choice. He gave her information so she could make an informed decision. And she shat on him. He was arrested for showing empathy and compassion. Happens a lot these days. Probably happened a lot in the past. A lesson for us all. Thank you for the video.

Great, but I agree with many others here: intelligibility of dialogue needs to be improved, or captions/subtitles added. I could not make out a lot of what was said and feel I might’ve missed something.

You know what really upsets me about short films like this? It's better than 75% of what Hollywood is doing right now & on a fraction of their budgets! Why does Hollywood continue to put out such crap when there are talented filmmakers like Ryan & Zach who can clearly do more with less? Boggles my mind!
Great job guys! This was really, REALLY great! I enjoyed it from beginning to end!

This would make a great series. As Zach explained in the BTS video, there could be many "freelance" jobs in the sci-fi society of "Freelancer". So, you could take the series in a lot of directions with that kind of world. Hence, a great series.
