I keep on stumbling randomly upon you in BGG, in RUclips, and it feels to me that you are doing just more than just putting up content, and that you are actually a positive building force in the solo community. So, thanks for that, and absolutely subscribed from now on, I should have done that actually sooner 😊
Really appreciate all the games you reviewed. Whist I won't buy or play many of them (I do own Wrath of Ashardalon, for example, and I do like it), I do love your taking the time to educate me, to explain why you did or did not like the game. Doing so, you saved me money by giving your opinions.
You are going to have a ton of fun. I picked up Dungeon Degens earlier this year and have fallen in love with it. Currently my favorite game, dethroning Shadows of Brimstone. I just love the fast pace of the game, and short but interesting campaigns.
I agree with you, it’s either Hexplore it or Dragons Down. (Not counting TMB being my forever no.1). Although I played a lot hex lately so I would put it right now higher than Dragons Down, great list!
Arkham Horror 2nd edition will always be number one for me. It started my love for board gaming in 2017, and I have absolutely everything for it, including physical versions of fan made expansions. I will be buried with it.
Love Gears of War. It's brutal, and I rarely win, but it's fun. Besides the missions, it has a horde mode, but I've yet to try it. It's a shame that only the core game and a small expansion were made.
@@Azure_Death Fateforge is good, 9/10 combat with a 5/10 story. You need to control at least two characters but the dice system is really slick. It also has both a campaign mode and a one-shot mode where you fight your way through a small number of encounters.
@@janvanosselaer7075 thank you! 🙂 yes I've looked Euthia but I don't own it. I'm in the PM for the latest kickstarter. I haven't pulled the trigger because apparently if you don't buy the deluxe expansion, setup is beyond a hassle, and when you combine it with the core it comes to around $300, which is a bit much. I haven't heard anyone say that it does anything better than other games in its category. I'd love to try it, it looks super cool, but the gigantic box and price deter me. If I see it on sale one day I'll think about it.
@@frc1255 That definitely could be on this list. It's pretty much an RPG in card form, but for my taste I view it as more of a very deep and crunchy card game that scratches the TCG itch.
Any thoughts on Deep Madness? I played a few scenarios solo before my wife gave birth to our kids and never had time to revisit it. Seemed like a decent game for solo
@@Board_Halfling Hi! I haven't tried it. It's never been on my radar, all I've heard is it's like One Deck Dungeon, but more advanced. I'll look into it more and might get it on sale.
Man…that fallout game is a hunk of garbage. One of the most disappointing board games I have owned. Otherwise great list, added a couple new ones to my wish list
Thank you! I think Fallout could have definitely benefited from more time in the oven before being published, but I still had fun with it and can tell some great stories.
You need the Atomic Bonds expansion and New California for Fallout...AB for an actual solo/co-op mode, and NC for more content. If you want to use a video game analogy, Atomic bonds and New California patched the board game. Even ol' Jack Burton would agree :) If you hate the base game though, yeah, probably not gonna fix it for you. I didn't like the base game much myself, but have fun with the game now, mostly solo.
Thanks for the content. this is right up my alley as these are my favorite types of games. That bar that ticks of boxes like if it can be played true solo is fantastic. I have a lot of thoughts on this as I've owned most of these games. Coming from the perspective that making meaningful choices that matter and theme are the most important things for me. Firstly, surprised not to see Mage Knight, as that would be my #1. Followed by TMB Undertow, and Arkham Horror LCG. Speaking of which, why would someone want to spend solo time on Arkham the board game when the LCG exists? Most people are not reviewers and have time for no more than 10 games. For me, JoTL was too much to manage 2 handed and all the scenarios seemed the same. I quickly soured on SoB as I feel there is little to no agency. Biggest regret of any game on this list. TMB has dice, but is so much better in terms of choices. IA also has little agency, but more than SoB. The one game on here that interested me is Pathfinder as I love the video game and stuff like Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity Original Sin 2. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching! Divinity II is great! I've been playing it on and off this past year. In regards to Mage Knight, I did think of including it, but the thing is I feel it's more of a brainburny exploration game. It's my #1 and I could always play MK, but when I think of an RPG or D&D-like, I don't really reach for MK. Regarding Arkham, I do really like the card game too but I'm not a fan of the campaign commitment. AH2E you just shuffle a bunch of decks and you're ready to go, and you can just shelf it after 1 game and not have to "save" or keep track of campaign elements. It's great at procedurally generating adventures without scenario setup.

Great video focus! Love solo rpgs!
Thanks!
I discovered you bc of your solo variant for star wars deckbuilder. Love your content!
Thank you! 😁
Great choices!!!
Just found your channel yesterday. Awesome video! I'm looking forward to watching more. Keep up the great work!

Good list! Nicely done. You should get your hands on League of Dungeoneers and Dungeon Universalis. Dungeon Crusade too...

What a list!! I’ve never got to try Arkham 2E but I do love Eldritch Horror; gives me Indiana Jones adventuring vibes 😎
Thank you!
👏 👏 👏 great video bud. 👍 just what I was looking for. Nice list
Thanks!
Great list and video! Looking forward to your definite thoughts on Hexplore It vs Dragons Down!

Heroquest with the Axianquest and Megaquest Cards from DrivethroughRPG. :) My favorite solo Dungeon Crawler.
This is a great list of games. If I could add another two.
Dragonbane and Heroquest.

You mentioned Tin Helm which I like a lot. The follow-up, Tin Realm is just as good if not better.
Yeah I need to get a copy of that one!
Great to see Gloom of Kilforth popping up in this list amongst such excellent titles - keep up the great work! :)

Try Fateforge chronicles of Kaan, a little unknown gem as Terminator dark faith 😅
