I'm glad to see Final Girl climbing up in the list. The game is so addictive! I got the core box + a couple of feature films about 2 months ago, and it is so good for solo playing that now I have 8 films and the miniatures and I'm still craving for more 😅❤ Marvel Champions is also pure addiction (as well as the other LCGs). Spirit Island, also a good game, drives me nuts 'cause I always want to win. Other games, like FG, MC and Robinson Crusoe I enjoy whether I lose or win, but with Spirit Island I have this fixation: "I take it out of the shelf with the sole purpose of winning", so I'm not enjoying it as much as I used to do. 😢
14:38 because of your accent, it sounds like you're saying "before being overwhelmed by James Taylors!"😂😂😂 I'm not trying to be critical or mean, I just thought that was really funny because of the irony!
Yeah it's an issue with votes of popularity, some games are a bit too niche to break the glass ceiling. AFAIK Mr. President games can last 10 to 20h though, so I don't see it ever making it to the top 100 of this list. It is number 139 this year though which is already quite an achievement for a game with such long sessions.
2 reasons: 1) it's quite hard to find ~300 solo games worth recommending while also matching the theme/mechanic of the game being showcased, and wanting to show each recommended game only once or twice in the entire video (otherwise it would be e.g. gloomhaven and spirit island recommended every single time). 2) a lot of these games are also great multiplayer, and I felt like recommending the occasional multiplayer game was therefore a good idea.
Spirit Island, I am so confused why people seem to love it. To me it is board game “whack a mole”. Honestly that wouldn’t make it to top 100, but to each their own. A game like “Folklore the Affliction” doesn’t get in the top 100 is a crime. Great narrative and adventure out of the box. Mage knight is amazing and worth getting to the table 100%, watch some how to videos and get that to the table, you are missing out. “Arkham” anything seems to be a solid choice for theme and just cool game play. If you haven’t played Oathsworn that is worth your money. Anyhow, fun list and comments thanks for the video. Again, Spirit Island?? Really?
I love Spirit Island but I totally understand your feeling. That's why popularity votes need to be taken with a grain of salt. There are lots of games in the list that I tried earnestly and just found boring. Thanks for the recommendations. Folklore the affliction and Oathsworn have been on my shopping list for a while!
Thanks, good comment and an interesting discussion. I've thought about it but I don't think it would be easy for me to include the price: prices vary wildly and fast, depending on availability of the game (reprints, etc...). What if I display the recommend retail price of a game, but by the time you watch the video it's out of stock (or out of print) and the only available copies are twice that cost? That doesn't help you. Also a lot of games don't even have an msrp. As an example, I paid roughly $200 for my copy of the 7th continent on the kickstarter second hand market. 3 months later a retail version came out for $65. 🤷 Anachrony couldn't be found for under $100 for *years*. Now I see it at $60 on Amazon. If I say on the video that it costs roughly $60, it's correct today but I have no guarantee the game's average price won't be back to $100 in 3 months. I'm not saying I like the situation, but my point is, it's really too swingy for me to put anything that won't be obsolete a week after the video is published.
@@meepleshelter BGG has prices on the game's main page. I get it's localized and changes. Would it change faster than a game's ranking on a list like this? I don't know. It's easy to add "as of this video's editing in DATE this was the information" as you edit to note for viewers when it was made. :) Nice video by the way.

I’m so glad you did this again. This was such an unexpected treat last year!
Thanks!

Thank you very much for this great video. I like the detail and the pictures of the game material, so you get an impression of the game.
Very pleased to see Orchard so high. I wish more of the smaller solo games were on this list.

Primal and Dead Cells made a great entry in my Top 10 solo game. I hope they’ll hit BGG’s Top 100 next year 😊
I enjoyed a lot solo: Expeditions (sequel to Scythe); Zhanguo: the First Empire
siuuuuuuuu, excelent timing.
Je cautionne à fond on TOP 6 ! ( pas dans le même ordre)
Apparently, not enough people have played Mr. President.

Why suggest games that don’t have a solo mode ???

just to annoy you! I'm glad it worked!

Spirit Island 😴
I wish videos like this would include prices. It's always like, that seems to be what I'm looking for until I look at the price.
