I'm looking forward to getting one though, as you said it looks like its a great runner.
I am very pleased to see that Tamiya is back on track releasing a new generation of Character buggy's. It good to see the money we are spending on re-releases being put into creating some very cool new designs, and I will be getting a TD2, as personally I am someone who does not race my cars, but does like to take them out and drive them, I find the 2WD as I the way they handle. Everyone has been screaming for Tamiya to do something new and they do so I don’t see the reason for negativity.. cool design and gets me excited for the future..
I love the classics but my favorite Tamiya to drive is my DT03. However it does tend to nose dive in the air so I can appreciate the way this new TD2 flies. The body looks great in my opinion. Compared to other brands of new buggies there is nothing like it! Thanks for the great videos!

Really like both of the 2 new buggies. Going back maybe a year I answered one of your 'what do you want from Tamiya' Questions and I think this is pretty much it. I can see some stadium trucks and maybe some big tyre truggies. Maybe we can get the same no moaning rule on the group. Seen a couple on peoples personal cars that are out of order. Just can't get why people are so quick to pee on someones fireworks. Looking fwd to seeing your TD4, keep up the good work 👍😁
Haha great comment Tony 🤩 Yeah as for the group I know buddy it’s ridiculous and always the same names doing it 😤 I actually posted the 1 minute running video of the TD2 on there this morning, I expected to have a battle but they haven’t commented on it 😵💫
Personally I’m still loving the looks of the td4 over the td2. The td4 I think has such character and stands apart which appeals to me. But I do love driving a 2wd so I think they will make a great modern pairing as part of a Tamiya collection. A Super Avante sitting next to a Bigwig! Yes please!
I enjoy these little debate videos, and your insight. Yeah, I like the look of this one way better than the TD4. I think with a proper paint job it'll look really cool!
I don't give a s**t to the name, I'm not a fanboy and what's a name when it hasn´t been used on any evolution since 30 years ... anyway ... what I see is at least a pair of buggies with a pilot in the cockpit, a pilot that can "see" where he's going ... I've never been especially found of buggies, and I'm more into scale crawlers, but the TDs, either 4 or 2, speak to me ... they look scale, futuristic but scale ... the TD4 has that Speed Racer look that tickle my memory, the TD2 has that modern-retro look that has been all the rage in the 1:1 world for almost 2 decades now ... they are something new and at least one of them will be on my shelf.
Great insight Glenn. I must admit I did'nt like it when I first seen it. But It has quickly grown on me. These new design Tamiya re really exciting stuff. I learnt a lot from watching your video.
Interesting 🤔 the TD2 is much more interesting than the TD4. I feel that tamiya have respected the original Astute visually, I really like it. The only things I would change are the colors of the stickers to yellow to correspond with the original paint the pock pit window black and fill in the other windows red, and paint the wing red. The position of the battery is spot on. I think that this is going to be a great car for tamiya 👍❤️
I love it. Looks awesome, as does the TD4 in my eyes. Finally something new/different. Oh...and about the mudguards...one of the main reasons why they look how they look...if you know what I mean. Without the mudguards...hmm...I think they are a big part of the how the cars should look. Great video again btw! Cheers, Ruud Oh..btw...I might have the bits you need for the Clodbusters roll bar.
Think the problem with the battery is tamiya always go for the 7.2v stick pack, there is so many different types of lipo available to play with weight distribution. Shorty, super shorty, low cg shorty & they have massive capacity. What I'm happy to see is tamiya moving away from the crap quality plastic and going with a composite type material also nice to see a totally new chassis. I prefer the look of the original astute but I like the lay down shocks on the front, kinda predator like layout.
Always preferred the look of the 2wd buggies.... I think I'd definitely go td2 over td4 😎 If I get either but definitely growing on me. Thank you for another great video Glenn 💪👍
@@TAMIYALegends I hear it helps 👍 Always a comment and a thumbs up from me 🤝 Keep up the great work mate. Got to thank you for the 1 year anniversary of my 'new' addiction 😁😎😏
Nice vid, I wonder if tamiya will ever up there game start making more updates rtr brushless kits, they seem to be stuck in the dark ages just releasing the same old stuff guess that’s there market place but they could be top in the field if they upped there game with the times
I like it. The car appears to be configured for a loose dirt track. Most of us don't have a proper hard-pack dirt track in our back yards so this should work great for most of us to just go out and have fun. It appears to be well balanced. Yeah, I like it! I think you should get one and do a proper build video here on the channel. I'll definitely be watching.
To me the td2 td4 and tc01 are an interesting engineering take at a cost effective method of proving out what could be the next generation of TRF racers . I would absolutely lay down cash to see that
I for one think its brilliant👏 we still have a manufacturer that has the confidence to design and release a whole new buggy range (TD4, TD2) the possibilities for the likes of a TD4 super egress amongst other buggies are endless rather than just tinkering with existing chassis/and models I'm not knocking the company's that do that it's a good way of keeping the cost down👍
Good overview. Yeah, well, not sure which one looks better. The TD4 body looks beefy. Good look for a 4WD. The TD2 looks slender and agile. Good look for a 2WD.
That TD2 looks pretty good, and seems to handle pretty well, especially with kit tyres on that very loose surface. I didn't like the TD4 at first, but it's really grown on me, and I'd be tempted by either car to be honest. Great video as always!
I’ll say the same thing I have said about the super avante: I love it, and I especially love how it looks similar to a TrackMania stadium car… however this one is closer to what a real one would operate like (rwd just like an actual F1)
I like it. Shows tamiya going back to its roots I reckon. Might not get one but only because I have the super astute. Maybe when the parts dry up on eBay.
Bit late to the party here Glenn! Love the look of the body on the TD2 loads more than the TD2. Having watched this great video I can see the difference on the front end now. Great video as always sir! 🙌🏻👍🏻
I love the mudguards tbh….makes it something different to the normal, the name is totally irrelevant to most people if they are honest to themselves?!. It looks a nice quality machine as we come to expect from Tamiya and it looks to handle the track well, I actually prefer the slimmer Td4 body but hey we are all different 😅 Nice one dude 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glenn Thanks a million for sharing this with us all and personally i really like the look of the TD4 and the TD2 and will welcome both into my collection and i also think its great that Tamiya are stepping way out the box and trying new things ,also the way it was carrying itself around that dust track/ pit was pretty quick and in total control ,so will be interesting to see how it does with the higher end race drivers and against other cars , and as always your not gonna please everyone , again the look of the Td2 is meannish looking and cant wait to have them on my shelves :-)
I’m looking forward to both chassis versions, as far as the names and the colors and body shapes that doesn’t really mean much because you can change the colors and the bodies eventually. And as far as the name goes, Tamiya is only using name recognition to sell the buggies. I think it’s pretty cool that we’re getting two totally new chassis with much improved plastics and a ton of hop ups .
I think these are absolutely wonderful buggies, Tamiya have really gotten back on track. They look really unique, its a cool idea to have 2 buggies from the one chassistub and lots of of shared parts. The new Astute looks great in my eyes, just like the Avante, I might add a bit of yellow to the Astute to bring it closer to the original in terms of looks. Definately getting one to chill out with the TD4. Unless these buggies have some terrible faults that makes them break all the time, Id guess these will be classics. Theres none of that cheap feeling you got from the mk2 or Aero avante on these two. Unless ofc tamiya starts rolling out all manner Plasma dual-edge named vehicles also on the TD4/TD2, then they lose the uniqueness. Anyway, I'm all aboard with these new buggies.
@@TAMIYALegends Come to think of it, if the Avante painting challenge is success, it could almost make sense to follow it up with the Astute paint challenge ;D
Tamiya is the RC world’s Nintendo (I’m sure someone has made this analogy before) and though I may not like all their offerings they do what they do and I dig it - both these cars look cool and I can’t wait to get them! Looking so forward to all the videos that will be made because of these cars as well!!!
Happy to see Tamiya incorporating some stronger plastics. These chassis look great! Hopefully, they'll be reasonably durable. I would like to see a factory painted body on offer, as I have a Super Avante on order, and despair of producing a box art livery myself! As for the nameplate; Tamiya can call them what they wish. (Just don't call it a "Turbo". Porsche have already flogged that horse to death.) Thank you for all your great content, Glen!
Nice to see so many positive comments! I really like both the TD2 and the TD4. I even quite like the wheel arches! If I'm being picky the main thing I don't like is the rear wing(s). The sides are a bit too small for my liking and I prefer it when the sides extend above and below the horizontal plane if that makes sense. I also think they will look better and more balanced in solid colour to match the main body colour but that's a very easy fix (although would need an alternative colour 'AWESOME!' decal on the TD2, maybe in blue or white on the red?)
I’ve always preferred 2wd buggy’s so I’m Quite keen to get this one . I’d still like to have seen the battery mounted length ways as it looks like the car will be quite light on the front end , I’m Pretty certain it will need weight adding if you race it on grass/carpet/Astro etc? Then again maybe it will be ok As it’s more mid motor designed , we shall see I guess we won’t know 100% until we drive it ;)
After talking to you about it the other day I I'll definitely be ordering one.. Love the chassis and the way it runs it looks very smooth out on the track.. I missed the front wheel setup completely :) The 2 does look better that the 4 but I will keep the 4 as it is, it's grown on me over the last few months
Another great video. We should be thankful that Tamiya is healthy enough to be doing these things, regardless of whether there are details that aren't to our tastes. Imagine what Kyosho could be doing now. I personally am waiting for the Super Vajra, haha.
Agree with you about the break setup In the corner. As if there was no fly wheel set up, strange. Don't know if the ball diff will have slipper or not. It would help in the corner to have traction. My fear is that without this slipper, power will come to brutally. Nice car Indeed I think, stable on the jump and smooth. Thanks 👍🏻☺️
After seeing all the Videos I could about the TD2, I think it will handle very differently compared to the other 2wd Tamiya buggies. I need to see the Hop-Up options list 👍🏻😎
Agreed. On literally everything except for drag brake lol. I had a feeling there would be a 2wd version with the way tamiya decides to utilize their expensive molds for multiple chassis, so their designs are limited to profitable production, Id say they do an amazing job at balancing everything to provide us products
I think this is a car I must have. For me that body reminds me of the striker 😊. It got the formula look. I really like the chassis. I would put some spike tires up front for a better look. Ahh, I didn't notice the hex in the front wheels, that is interesting, why would they do that, are they gonna be used on another chassis in the future?
@@TAMIYALegends I agree…and I appreciate your work/videos, I guess I mean I’m excited/interested to see more in-depth, like diff, gear adjustability, suspension, options, etc. will this car have the ability to truly compete or just more of a bash buggy?
Spot on with the comparison to the 201 Glenn, I would interested to see how they compare in balance with the alternative battery, motor position and lay down front shocks. 🤔👍
Great video again Glenn. Tamiya are releasing a limited edition of the TD4 Super Astute with a yellow chassis. I wasn't going to get a TD4 or a TD2 but if they make a red chassis TD2 I will 100% get one. I'm still annoyed I couldn't find a White Dark Impact.
For sale or swap for TD2 & TD4. 1 wife, slightly used, not abused, good cook (when she does) very clean & works. Great video & I didn't mention any of the things u said not to as I'd probably get slammed to 🤣 I like both car's. Once the wife is gone🤣🤣 I'll have both🤟 box art on the TD4 definitely TD2 red with blue hmmm maybe not
If I could only get one I'd choose the TD2, I think it looks great. I get your point about weight distribution and placement for the battery pack in the TD4, but constantly doing and undoing interference fit plastic will lead to part failures sooner rather than later and if you only wish to run it for fun and not race. I'm not sure whats involved in swapping batteries out in the TD4, but if your only after running about in the back garden, ease and speed of swapping out packs could be important. Having a little less weight over the front end, which can be somewhat mitigated by placement of electrons, heavier servos and corner weights/ride height set-up, is not the end of the world. Putting wide front tyres onto FWD cars is a bad idea for performance. Due to the lower weight on the front, a wider tyre will result in lower grip! It is due to the fact that the total amount of grip it generates comes from its coefficient of friction, which is proportional to the normal force (I.E the force acting perpendicular to the contact patch, vertically to it, with Force = coefficient of friction x Mass x Gravity). A wider front tyre has a larger contact patch, meaning each square unit (cm/inch whatever) produces a lower amount of force per unit. It's the same reason why in low grip conditions, i.e Ice, rally cars use narrow tyres to generate greater force at the contact point. I can see that it might have more pleasing aesthetics and look nicer sat stationary on a shelf, but it wouldn't perform any better than a TD4 with a transversely mounted battery pack whilst being run. That said, these two new kits still look brill, they provide what Tamyia lovers are after, a kit you build YOURSELF! Kits you can either make box art or make your own. Kits you can modify, upgrade or leave stock. Lovely cameo from the TRF 201 !!!, I wish Tamyia still made kits like that!
Theres no screws into plastic with the TD4 battery change. The screws go into socketed nuts(2) and theres two bodyclips, so 4 actions to open, and the same to close. Its a bit less of a hassle than people initially thought.
Interesting.. I have to say TD2 much nicer Bodyshell and is something I will definitely consider buying. Last 2 wheel drive buggy I bought from tamiya was the sand viper.
I don't think it looks better; it looks as good as the Avante and as a pair they look brilliant. I like the subtle mudguard differences and with the slimmer body front end with no bumper, it's looks super stealth. Red springs too 👌
I’ll be having one. They can name it the gooniebird. Makes no difference to me. Seems to be great new designs from Tamiya. Which is what we all beg for. I’m excited to receive both TD cars as soon as they show up. Hahaha
The super Avante is stunning I’m loving the curves, how you can say the astute is better looking than the Avante is misguided, it’s like saying you love one child more than another it might be true! just keep into your self lol…. The chassis and rear gearbox look identical and the front end as you say has plenty of rake and it seems fairly stable on that loose grit surface the squarish side pods for the transverse battery look a little like an after thought but until I see one up close I’ll not pass judgement. The TD4 + TD2 are not cheap beginners kits they are a new generation of buggy’s and I expect to see a TRF, Evo, or Black Ops version sooner or later
I really like the Mudguards on this buggy, it adds a lot of visual distinction to the car and sets it apart. I can understand it being Marmite but personally it's one of my favourite things about the kit. Overall the design as a whole looks really sleek and having a higher-end 2WD buggy as an option is nice. I know some people believe 4wd renders 2wd completely obselete but personally I quite like them especially since they tend to be more budget friendly alongside being more loose handling (which I prefer for just driving, for racing it's obviously a disadvantage). Edit: One day if budget allows I'd definitely pickup both the TD2 and TD4, besides the different handling they both look visually distinctive so it's a nice bit of variation.
@@TAMIYALegends thank you and fantastic video :) I wasn't around back in the glory days of Tamiya so I enjoy watching your videos and hearing your views on both the older stuff and the new ones :) I think I owe a lot of my love for Tamiya kits to your videos
TD4 looks cool to me if you dont do the box art paint scheme. TD2 is a slam dunk on cool factor to me, I even think the mud guards are kind of neat since it's like the old plymouth prowler from the 90s haha
I think it looks good tbh better than the td4, but the most important thing is that it's great to see new buggies from Tamiya. Original Astute does look better in my honest opinion but we all know these are not really trying to be the classics, just recycled names is the best way I can describe it as.
I Like the Astute body and colour but I’m not into 2 wheel drive cars, if I was spending the money I’d go for the TD4 in Astute colours. cheers Glenn 👍🏻
I'm debating getting one to try running on a few tracks. Hope the plastics are up for a few tumbles. What upgrades would you recommend right from the start, besides tires for the track surface and the slipper?
I think as long as they perform well (which they look to in the vid) they can call them what they like. I think the looks are growers, we'll get used to them (I actually quite like the Astute, the Avante still looks a bit podgy to me) Future classics I reckon
Looks good to me. Sensible to utilise the newest chassis design on this too. Think this does scupper any chances of the OG Astute being rereleased though. Maybe they could bring out a full upgraded TD4 and call it a Super Egress? (Will I get a bite? 😉).

Great to see new stuff from Tamiya.
I’m not sure on the bubble cockpits though. Looks a bit “Jetsons “.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Ian 😊👊🏻
Great insight Glenn. I must admit I did'nt like it when I first seen it. But It has quickly grown on me. These new design Tamiya re really exciting stuff. I learnt a lot from watching your video.
Oh thanks for the great comment Paul 😊😊😊
I stayed till the end I just pulled out my astute to take it for a run look forward to the tc01 video mate ...cheers
Haha thanks so much for watching my stuff 😊👊🏻
Interesting 🤔 the TD2 is much more interesting than the TD4. I feel that tamiya have respected the original Astute visually, I really like it. The only things I would change are the colors of the stickers to yellow to correspond with the original paint the pock pit window black and fill in the other windows red, and paint the wing red. The position of the battery is spot on. I think that this is going to be a great car for tamiya 👍❤️
Fantastic yeah I bet we are going to see a few of these done in the actual Astute livery 😍👊🏻
Looks like a good buggy and from the video it runs pretty good
Excellent thanks again for watching Gilbert 😊👊🏻
I love it. Looks awesome, as does the TD4 in my eyes. Finally something new/different.
Oh...and about the mudguards...one of the main reasons why they look how they look...if you know what I mean. Without the mudguards...hmm...I think they are a big part of the how the cars should look.
Great video again btw!
Cheers,
Ruud
Oh..btw...I might have the bits you need for the Clodbusters roll bar.
Hey 👋🏻
I’ve actually got those parts now, but thanks for thinking about me 🤩👊🏻
Think the problem with the battery is tamiya always go for the 7.2v stick pack, there is so many different types of lipo available to play with weight distribution.
Thanks for watching and commenting David 😊👊🏻
Looks really good. The colour combinations possibilities could be amazing!!!😃👍
Totally agree my friend, I’m sure we’ll see a few in the original livery 😎👊🏻
Looks great!maybe better than td4..the battery is normal, thanks tamiya!
Thanks for watching my friend 😊👊🏻
Yeah I think it looks good on the running video. Having said that, we all know who's driving it - he skills are immense :)
Haha yeah he’s not bad is he 🤣👊🏻
Hi Glenn, tamiya have used 12mm hexes on the non driven axle's on several cars both off road and on road. Steve. UK.
Really Stephen I didn’t know that 🤯
Which cars buddy?
Always preferred the look of the 2wd buggies.... I think I'd definitely go td2 over td4 😎
If I get either but definitely growing on me.
Thank you for another great video Glenn 💪👍
Fantastic thanks for leaving a comment Philip 😊👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends I hear it helps 👍
Always a comment and a thumbs up from me 🤝
Keep up the great work mate.
Yeah you make a great point, but I just don’t think that stuff interests them tbh 🤔🤷🏼♂️
I’ve just pre ordered it my friend 😊👊🏻
That actually looks cool
Yeah I think so too 😊👊🏻
To me the td2 td4 and tc01 are an interesting engineering take at a cost effective method of proving out what could be the next generation of TRF racers . I would absolutely lay down cash to see that
I absolutely believe we are going to see TRF buggy’s again in the future 😎👊🏻
Also agree, it looks sorted while running and on the jumps 👍
Yeah I think I’m more excited with this now than the TD4 🤣👊🏻
I for one think its brilliant👏 we still have a manufacturer that has the confidence to design and release a whole new buggy range (TD4, TD2) the possibilities for the likes of a TD4 super egress amongst other buggies are endless rather than just tinkering with existing chassis/and models I'm not knocking the company's that do that it's a good way of keeping the cost down👍
Great comment Phil 😊👊🏻
Good overview. Yeah, well, not sure which one looks better. The TD4 body looks beefy. Good look for a 4WD. The TD2 looks slender and agile. Good look for a 2WD.
Be careful my friend, you’ll be getting accused of being Tamiya fanboy 🤣👊🏻
That TD2 looks pretty good, and seems to handle pretty well, especially with kit tyres on that very loose surface. I didn't like the TD4 at first, but it's really grown on me, and I'd be tempted by either car to be honest. Great video as always!
I’ll say the same thing I have said about the super avante: I love it, and I especially love how it looks similar to a TrackMania stadium car… however this one is closer to what a real one would operate like (rwd just like an actual F1)
Excellent 😊😊😊
I like it. Shows tamiya going back to its roots I reckon. Might not get one but only because I have the super astute. Maybe when the parts dry up on eBay.
Excellent thanks for watching my friend 😊👊🏻
Super insight! Actually quite excited about this bad boy.......I'm in!!
Thanks Paul 😊👊🏻
Bit late to the party here Glenn! Love the look of the body on the TD2 loads more than the TD2. Having watched this great video I can see the difference on the front end now. Great video as always sir! 🙌🏻👍🏻
I love the mudguards tbh….makes it something different to the normal, the name is totally irrelevant to most people if they are honest to themselves?!.
It looks a nice quality machine as we come to expect from Tamiya and it looks to handle the track well, I actually prefer the slimmer Td4 body but hey we are all different 😅
Nice one dude 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent my friend thanks for watching and commenting 😊👊🏻
name is totally irrelevant? NOT IF YOU HAVE A TOP FORCE! 😆💪👊
Haha excellent my friend 😍👊🏻
I’m looking forward to both chassis versions, as far as the names and the colors and body shapes that doesn’t really mean much because you can change the colors and the bodies eventually. And as far as the name goes, Tamiya is only using name recognition to sell the buggies. I think it’s pretty cool that we’re getting two totally new chassis with much improved plastics and a ton of hop ups .
Great comment Eric 😍👊🏻
Fantastic comment my friend I enjoyed reading that 😊👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends Come to think of it, if the Avante painting challenge is success, it could almost make sense to follow it up with the Astute paint challenge ;D
@@tm5123
I like your thinking 😊😊😊
I love it both cars are great 👍
Excellent Gregory 😎👊🏻
Tamiya is the RC world’s Nintendo (I’m sure someone has made this analogy before) and though I may not like all their offerings they do what they do and I dig it - both these cars look cool and I can’t wait to get them! Looking so forward to all the videos that will be made because of these cars as well!!!
Haha that’s a great analogy Wade 😍👊🏻
Happy to see Tamiya incorporating some stronger plastics. These chassis look great!
Hopefully, they'll be reasonably durable.
I would like to see a factory painted body on offer, as I have a Super Avante on order, and despair of producing a box art livery myself!
As for the nameplate; Tamiya can call them what they wish. (Just don't call it a "Turbo". Porsche have already flogged that horse to death.)
Thank you for all your great content, Glen!
Fantastic comment 😊👊🏻
Nice to see so many positive comments! I really like both the TD2 and the TD4. I even quite like the wheel arches! If I'm being picky the main thing I don't like is the rear wing(s). The sides are a bit too small for my liking and I prefer it when the sides extend above and below the horizontal plane if that makes sense. I also think they will look better and more balanced in solid colour to match the main body colour but that's a very easy fix (although would need an alternative colour 'AWESOME!' decal on the TD2, maybe in blue or white on the red?)
Fantastic Alex and I couldn’t agree more with everything you’ve just said my friend 😊👊🏻
I’ve always preferred 2wd buggy’s so I’m
Quite keen to get this one . I’d still like to have seen the battery mounted length ways as it looks like the car will be quite light on the front end , I’m
Pretty certain it will need weight adding if you race it on grass/carpet/Astro etc? Then again maybe it will be ok As it’s more mid motor designed , we shall see I guess we won’t know 100% until we drive it ;)
Andy what did you think of it going round that track? Did it look decent to you?
After talking to you about it the other day I I'll definitely be ordering one..
Love the chassis and the way it runs it looks very smooth out on the track..
I missed the front wheel setup completely :)
The 2 does look better that the 4 but I will keep the 4 as it is, it's grown on me over the last few months
Excellent Adrian 😊
I can’t believe how quickly the TD2 has grown on me in the space of 24hrs 🤣👊🏻
Another great video. We should be thankful that Tamiya is healthy enough to be doing these things, regardless of whether there are details that aren't to our tastes. Imagine what Kyosho could be doing now. I personally am waiting for the Super Vajra, haha.
Great point James 🤩👊🏻
They should do a td1 or td3 and that would be a front wheel drive buggy.
Yeah who knows where they’ll go with this TD range 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Agree with you about the break setup In the corner. As if there was no fly wheel set up, strange. Don't know if the ball diff will have slipper or not. It would help in the corner to have traction. My fear is that without this slipper, power will come to brutally. Nice car Indeed I think, stable on the jump and smooth. Thanks 👍🏻☺️
After seeing all the Videos I could about the TD2, I think it will handle very differently compared to the other 2wd Tamiya buggies. I need to see the Hop-Up options list 👍🏻😎
Yeah I agree I think this one is there best non TRF 2wd car so far 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Agreed. On literally everything except for drag brake lol. I had a feeling there would be a 2wd version with the way tamiya decides to utilize their expensive molds for multiple chassis, so their designs are limited to profitable production, Id say they do an amazing job at balancing everything to provide us products
Spot on my friend 😊👊🏻
I like them both but since seeing your vid with the td4 it looked even better
Excellent thanks for watching Andrew 😊👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends always do best vids there is on here👍
G'day Glenn mate in 20 years time it will be a legend like the grasshopper hotshot. Looks like it handles awesome looks great 👍😃👍
Haha I’m sure you’ll be right Lionel 😍👊🏻
Prefer the look of this to the TD4, thanks for the upload!
Yeah me too Sean 😊👊🏻
I think this is a car I must have. For me that body reminds me of the striker 😊. It got the formula look. I really like the chassis. I would put some spike tires up front for a better look.
Ahh, I didn't notice the hex in the front wheels, that is interesting, why would they do that, are they gonna be used on another chassis in the future?
Haha excellent my friend I new you’d appreciate it 🤩👊🏻
I’m curious to see it minus the shell
But I’m still wishing they’d bring back the TRF line
Yeah there’s plenty of pictures on this video without the shell on my friend 👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends I agree…and I appreciate your work/videos, I guess I mean I’m excited/interested to see more in-depth, like diff, gear adjustability, suspension, options, etc. will this car have the ability to truly compete or just more of a bash buggy?
@@muddfoot69
Yeah personally I don’t think it’s aimed as a race car, but it’s probably there best 2wd non TRF car so far😊👊🏻
I could see Tamiya holding one-make races with these buggies (in Japan).
Yeah absolutely that’s what they do over there, if you’re into Tamiya RC, that’s the place to live my friend 😅👊🏻
I agree with you. The TD2 is actually quite good looking and to me a lot nicer than the TD4.
Excellent thanks for watching and commenting Paul 😊👊🏻
New Astute looks awesome. I actually like the TD4 body a little better, but I will probably get a TD2.
Excellent thanks for watching my friend 😊👊🏻
Spot on with the comparison to the 201 Glenn, I would interested to see how they compare in balance with the alternative battery, motor position and lay down front shocks. 🤔👍
Excellent thanks Rob 😎👊🏻
Great video again Glenn. Tamiya are releasing a limited edition of the TD4 Super Astute with a yellow chassis. I wasn't going to get a TD4 or a TD2 but if they make a red chassis TD2 I will 100% get one. I'm still annoyed I couldn't find a White Dark Impact.
Yeah that limited edition TD4 sounds pretty cool tbh 😎👊🏻
For sale or swap for TD2 & TD4. 1 wife, slightly used, not abused, good cook (when she does) very clean & works.
Great video & I didn't mention any of the things u said not to as I'd probably get slammed to 🤣 I like both car's. Once the wife is gone🤣🤣 I'll have both🤟 box art on the TD4 definitely TD2 red with blue hmmm maybe not
Haha that made me chuckle Matt 🤣🤣🤣
This is a fantastic comment my friend, thanks for taking the time to share it with us 😊😊😊
Theres no screws into plastic with the TD4 battery change.
Yeah I think the DT02 is what this new car has to beat 😊👊🏻
I don't think it looks better; it looks as good as the Avante and as a pair they look brilliant. I like the subtle mudguard differences and with the slimmer body front end with no bumper, it's looks super stealth. Red springs too 👌
Yeah I’d quite happily have them both in my collection 😊😊😊
Looks like an updated Striker!
Haha a few have said the same 🤣👊🏻
I do like the F1 look it has. I might get one at some point.
I’ll be having one. They can name it the gooniebird. Makes no difference to me. Seems to be great new designs from Tamiya. Which is what we all beg for. I’m excited to receive both TD cars as soon as they show up. Hahaha
Fantastic Jason 😊😊😊
Fantastic comment Aaron 😍👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends thank you and fantastic video :)
I wasn't around back in the glory days of Tamiya so I enjoy watching your videos and hearing your views on both the older stuff and the new ones :)
I think I owe a lot of my love for Tamiya kits to your videos
Great vid Glenn, thing it looks really good hope the price on this one is better than the td4 price is a bit high.
Thanks Alex yeah I’m hoping it’s quite a bit cheaper to 😇🤞🏻🤞🏻
Just my opinion, but I think I would eliminate the mud guards. Really like the elimination of the shock tower. Good lookin buggy🔥🔥🔥
Excellent thanks for watching my friend 😎👊🏻
TD4 looks cool to me if you dont do the box art paint scheme.
TD2 is a slam dunk on cool factor to me, I even think the mud guards are kind of neat since it's like the old plymouth prowler from the 90s haha
Top vid.
Looks like "shorty" would fit without side pods.
Yeah definitely would 😊👊🏻
Looks really interesting the TD2 I'll have to think about which one it be later on next year for me 😞 great video Glenn 🙂👍👍
Thanks Craig 😊👊🏻
The astute definitely has a 90's F1 car vibe about the shape of the shell. May look cool in Camel, Malborough or JPS livery for the old school F1 fans
Haha yeah that sounds awesome, I’m sure we’ll see some weird and wonderful livery’s once the car is out 😊😊😊
its like a kind one F1 car, like it
Thanks for watching my friend 😊👊🏻
Wonder which would be quickest around that Tamiya track out of the TD4 and 2 🤔
Hmmm interesting 🤔
@@TAMIYALegends I watched the TD4 track video back to back with the TD2, the TD2 100% jumps better. I think it would be a very close race.
I think it looks good tbh better than the td4, but the most important thing is that it's great to see new buggies from Tamiya. Original Astute does look better in my honest opinion but we all know these are not really trying to be the classics, just recycled names is the best way I can describe it as.
Perfectly put my friend 😊👊🏻
I Like the Astute body and colour but I’m not into 2 wheel drive cars, if I was spending the money I’d go for the TD4 in Astute colours. cheers Glenn 👍🏻
Fantastic thanks for watching Michael 😊👊🏻
You love them all🤔 me too😜 this video just made me realized it's a different buggy🤪🤣
Haha excellent that was the point tbh, it’s not a 2wd TD4 😅👊🏻
I'm debating getting one to try running on a few tracks. Hope the plastics are up for a few tumbles. What upgrades would you recommend right from the start, besides tires for the track surface and the slipper?
Looks sweet and seems to go like a 💣
Fantastic thanks for watching James 😊👊🏻
TD 2 and TD 4 are too tempting to me next thing you know Tamiya will bring us a new monster truck chassis :P
Haha yeah that’s a great shout my friend 😊👊🏻
Looks like another one to add to the pre order list,

I think as long as they perform well (which they look to in the vid) they can call them what they like. I think the looks are growers, we'll get used to them (I actually quite like the Astute, the Avante still looks a bit podgy to me) Future classics I reckon
Great comment my friend 😊👊🏻
Love it. I want one.

Lol the mudguards - I wouldn't get on a pushbike without them! Do they add anything to the buggy in practice? I keep anything clean?!
Ohh! I wonder if we’ll get a TD2 Super Astute?
🤣🤣😊
I think it’s great 👍
Looks good to me. Sensible to utilise the newest chassis design on this too. Think this does scupper any chances of the OG Astute being rereleased though.
Maybe they could bring out a full upgraded TD4 and call it a Super Egress? (Will I get a bite? 😉).
Haha just give it time Robert 🤣👊🏻
