Actaully RV tech (which I assume you are talking about the electric system), should always be aftermarket to get the best and save the most. Anytime you purchase an RV with an amazing off grid system, you are paying 2-4 times more than that system is worth. Manufacturers mark up considerably what retail is. People don't pay the premium on LTVs or Airstreams for "tech", they are purchasing a brand that holds value the best as well as has great community. I am very biased through experience. Own both LTV and Airstream and head and shoulders above competition such as pleasure way. Just look at the used market and you will see what those brands can be bought for after 1-3 years, then look at LTV. @@vinoto
I'm not sure I follow your logic on the batteries. Yes, Dragon Fly is expensive - no argument. But, I've looked at Lithionics. That's just as expensive. The 320 amp hour is $4,500 and a similar, 260 amp hour is $3,000. Do you know of some super low price seller? Do you get preferred pricing from Lithionics?
The pricing is basically the same, but the Lithionics has 60% more capacity. It’s like a free extra dragonfly plus 1/3 of another for basically same price. Lithionics also has built in Bluetooth so no need for a $160 smart shunt. Lithionics also has auto heating instead of manual switch. Dragonfly’s are like flip phones at iPhone pro max price. So I’m saying if you are paying that price; get the Lithionics
@@Pagosa Living in the Midwest and storing outside, the automatic heater was an absolute must! Love it on the lithionics; one less thing to worry about.
An alternate thought on the anticipated price increase, there may be another scenario that would not be as adverse. Price increase coming is the easy guestimate projection, but look at the industry. As you begin to see softness in pricing, other manufacturers are significantly discounting, albiet from a higher MSRP, but the percentages approaching the 30+% range. LTV historically has been loath to discount, which together with their production schedule control limiting supply is actually a good thing. Discounts throw existing customers under the bus (or RV???) as it impacts used sales. hith the weakness in the market overall, it may provide an opportunity to increase value and have little, or moderate adjustment in MSRP and still have a level of profitability. Will be interesting to see what is finally published as they roll into the 2024's.
Just saw a 2023 Newmar Dutchstar MSRP 599k on for $299k. And one person stated that they thought they were providing dealers with rebates. Not something heard of for a very long time. Yes, LTV not overbuilding and keeping demand higher than supply is fortunate for resale but not so much new buyers like myself. At least if I join the family I can benefit from such a strategy. The only grip I really have is having to pay so much for the force lithium only to have to replace it all for the capacity I desire. In the big picture a rounding error to the overall price but a bad task in ones mouth.
I think LTV, being a small manufacturer with stellar reputation could price at whatever they like. I think they started out too low in the first place, and these massive hikes now are a pain point.
Way way over priced You could buy a lovely home for that price. Vehicles lose value the moment you drive them off the lot compared to a house that appreciates in value.
I actually sold my LTV for more than I paid in 2020 recently. That’s rare for RVs, but LTVs hold value better than most. Also, RVs are not financial investments, they are life investments. Can’t take it with you, so enjoy experiences if you can.
Not the battery, the price. I think it’s a disservice to the consumer to force charge double retail for basic batteries. Should allow for cheap batteries from factory and allow to replace with better solution. Sorry if it appeared negative toward the battery, but it’s not good for the consumer.
@@Pagosa I am with you. A massive disappointment. I like so many others would like 300+ AH of lithium batteries as well a 3kW inverter. To pay such an outrageous price for only 200AH is frustrating. As you state, it's not that Dragonflys are bad batteries but they are low AH and high cost per AH. As well, they have a manual heater which for me up in Canada is awful seeing that I RV in cold temps in the mountains. I would prefer an intelligent and automatic BMS managing the heater and not a manual switch. We were close to putting in an order for what would end up being a 2024 but throwing away $4100 for 200AH of Dragonfly batteries irks me enough to hold off for now. As you state, in the overall picture not a big hit but I could spend that money on a 3k inverter and more and would prefer to do so. It's the principle of being force to buy an overpriced option especially when you cannot mix and match manufacturers with lithium. So you have to rip them out and likely get very little for them.

The battery upgrade is definitely a negative because a higher capacity Lithionics battery would be much more cost effective.
Yes. Factory lithium is 2X - 3X cost of better aftermarket
My dealer in Ohio says new orders are out 5 years! Yikes!😮
Wonder orders are estimated at that. Unity is much sooner
A 4 cylinder turbo on an RV?
Absolutely a no go.......
All reports say more power and 20+ MPG. Plus if you want a Sprinter, it is what it is.
It's starting to sound as if it's cheaper to just import a nice RV from Germany.
Getting there!
If you can’t supply within two years, a price hike is really a joke.
Something is worth what people are willing to pay, so don’t see the demand waning anytime soon
With the recession right around the corner, they will be dropping the price
Lot's of the price increase will be due to the MB chassis change, so not sure they will be able to
Now that LTV is going with Lithium, why doesn't LTV use Ford Transit AWD for the Boondocking Beach Folks. Set yourself apart.
They have a Ford Transit AWD model now.
Definitely lower tow capacity
I don't think so, think it's the same
This awesome for rich people. Oh well.
They are expensive
Dean is hallucinating salesperson who's trying to squeeze the goodies ignoring all the baddies. Typical LTV puppet
I’ll let him know
Way way over priced You could buy a lovely home for that price.
Your over negativity towards the dragonfly battery is disconcerting
For such an impressive rig and company, LTV has been way behind with Lithium.
Too many TVs! Humanity is going downhill ( although I believe a recovery is in our future) from too many kids and teens into their phones and computers. What happened to getting in touch with nature and with one’s inner voice? Peaceful moments. I have not had a TV for 15 years! Yes, I use my ipad for communication and alternative news and for info, but no TV shows or fake news. I think it is very sad that RVs or LTV , for those going on a “ vacation” find it necessary to fill up time with the TV. So very sad, when people are not in touch with themselves and aware and balanced. I would MUCH rather see a culture of self- realized individuals.
They are there if you want them. If not, keep them off 😃
I never thought Id use my TV. I was a hardcore tent camper. Turns out, I love it. Relazing can take many forms. And after a long day of hiking and biking, a movie sounds pretty nice.
@@hrustar Understood, to each his own. I hope you understand that TV programming has invaded our society and psyche in a negative way. Most people are unbalanced, in general due to so many factors in life. And younger adults and children are having their minds taking over by too much technology interaction. We need balance and to stay connected to nature, and our own spirit and other humans at times.
uh, no. Humanity is not going downhill. Americans in America are downhill, fast approaching bottom. If you were to venture for a few years outside your ignorant, self-anointed exceptionals, you may come to see this for and by yourself. Your point to TV is valid; TV is designed to render people controlled and slightly above moron. The moniker, drugged up and dumbed down, applies aptly to Americans as a whole. Kudos to you for rejecting TV - a ray of hope.
