- Actress Nancy Kwan talked with TCM friend Donald Bogle at our 2018 TCM Classic Film Festival about her start in Hollywood and her breakthrough performance in The World of Suzie Wong (1960), alongside William Holden, which earned her a Golden Globe. Kwan became a pivotal Asian star during Hollywood's studio era, starring in the first ever all-Asian cast film Flower Drum Song (1961), and her influence in film still stands today.

she still looks so young and beautiful at her age, although i've, i think, never seen her films, honestly. She looks so beautiful and elegant.
82 and still beautiful, aging gracefully. Gorgeous.
Magnificent film
Nancy and William were excellent in the film. Made me go to Hong Kong.
Loved the movie. Bill & Nancy were magic together
Another great film that took place in Hong Kong is Love is A Many Splendored Thing with William Holden and Jennifer Jones. Hong Kong is enchanting.
Now Hong Kong is just another part of red China. If you don't conform to the hard line government off to the reeducation camp you go. Still beautiful location though.
Absolutely adore Nancy. 🌷
Yes but you're not related to her
@@theart8039 And ?
@@wolleysegap9740 It's a pity because I fell out with her..or rather I fell out with her agent
She played with william holden. Just that💥💫❣
I will always be a fan and shall remember the time you came into my shop at The Star House, Kowloon with Bruce Lee in the early '70.
Wow that is soooo awesome...
I developed a huge crush on Nancy Kwan when I saw The World of Suzie Wong when I was 21.
Me 2 xx
She was a natural beauty loved her in Flower Drum song.
She was outstanding in that movie! Her "I Enjoy Being a Girl" was a tour de force.
Gorgeous!
Excellent interview. Looks awesome!
Nancy should have been in the Film Love is a Many Splendored Thing with William Holden !
Great to hear Anna May Wong mentioned here but sorry Nancy didn't get to meet her. Two wonderful pioneers that paved the way for all Asian actors to follow. I love the book by Richard Mason and the movie of The World Of Suzie Wong and have visited the Luc Kwok Hotel in Hong Kong were the story is set. Called the Nam Kok in the story the original six story building was demolished in the 1980's and a new 29 story building took it's place. Proud of their history and ' Suzie Wong ' connection they have a display in the foyer, though off to the side, of original items from the old hotel and photo's from the movie. The location used for the Nam Kok Hotel in the movie can be found at the corner of Hollywood Road and Ladder Street in Sheung Wan, the Man Mo Temple is directly across Ladder Street from it. It's easily identifiable as the ground floor is occupied by the Yue Po Chai Curios Store.
Nancy is still stunning
Wonderful interview. Thank you.
