Charles Koechlin - Sonata for Cello and Piano - Movement 3 - Brian Patrick Bromberg - Lam Yuet Fei

The third movement of this sonata further explores the pastoral and peacful melodic writing presented in the first movement. In this movement, Koechlin passes into and out of different modes of E major. The melodic content is shared equally between piano and cello and again stays at a very low dynamic level throughout. There is a brief climax towards the end, and the movement seems to evaporate into a beautiful bitonal atmosphere of C major and E major.
