As far as I can tell, this is the exact rifle I have except for the optic, and the color. Mines FDE, 22" barrel, with a Vortex Crossfire II (IIRC) 4-12 on it. I wanted lighter, and don't really need more than 12 - 16. I doubt I'll ever take a shot over 400, maybe 500 yards anyway.
Glad you asked! Ideally the gunsmith can get the weight to near abouts 12oz or so and crispen up the sear engagement for a less spongy trigger feel. These are things that I have my gunsmith do for me as they’re fairly complicated tasks and I want it to function reliably all the time.
I have this exact rifle with a Vortex 4-12 on it. It was just under $1,000 including the FFL fee, shipping, and tax, every bolt, screw, rings, etc. I did have a hell of a discount code though!
It genuinely was a one take! I promise that but trust me when I say it would have been over an hour if I never cut the footage no matter how fast I was genuinely trying to do it! I really wanted to do a straight up one take but it’s just not entertaining
In this case the standard rings were back ordered and to keep with the integrity of the video I chose the lesser than ideal in stock cantilever mount to keep in budget and on time
Buy a used Savage model 10 for $300.00 and add a $100 Burris FFII 3-9x40 with ballistic plex reticle. Total investment of no more than $500, with ammo, and it "hammers" better than your rifle does, out to 600 yards.. Saw a RAR 6mm Creedmoor in a Magpul stock for $500.00 the other day, that would probably also outshoot your rifle.
There’s been a concern in the past!!! Haha max ordinance for this 6.5 is about 20ft aiming at 1000 yards which is well below the lines. Some calibers we just can’t shoot at that field due to the height restrictions and go figure the lines are at the exact distance where peak trajectory is 🤣
I’ll have you know that the syntax in which I speak is, and always will remain, flawless 👌 Anyways, thanks for watching! Like share and subscribe! Street punk OOOUUTTT🤘
Lmfao, what!? Edit: @ kwikshooter1 you sounded intelligent, then you spelled your name kwikshooter when the word is quickshooter 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Is this real life?
I have 5 blueprinted Howa's, all trigger jobs.... all barrel changed... Howa make shit too short barrels! 400$ to get that action is a great start. That scope is terrible BTW SH4 and EP5 is much better vision (well most scopes are better vision).
For the scope I wouldn’t say TERRIBLE but there’s definitely better out there hahah honestly though considering the price it’s VERY good for 250$. I’m trying not to play the “but for a bit more money you could get this” game hahah that’s how we all ended up with expensive ass guns in the first place lol thanks for the watch! Next step is trigger job and to put some weight in it for next weeks PRS match
@@averageshot There is a sear grind mod for HACT trigger... seen it before on youtube and that is what my gunsmith does.... dude, 5oz and it blows away Timney and is at diamond trigger quality. Obviously 50z aint a hunting trigger... but for 1/2 the price of a shitty Timney.... awesome... pity all barrels are short and thin with Howa!
@@gesheepistemology8050 if I could get it down to a high quality 12oz break that’d be ideal. The trigger feels a tad mushy but hopefully that’s cleaned up with the trigger work.
@@averageshot That gunsmith (like all) is a bit weird and doesn't talk to public. I have had one great conversation with him, he does good/great work.... but trigger mods are above my paygrade. If you fuck up it is really dangerous. 1/2lb I think is close to 12oz... we use metric.... I don't think you would feel a difference.... everyone feels 5oz though! The looks on people's faces when they fire or dry fire mine is priceless. Just saying there is another mod, other than the 20$ spring mod. It has been so long since I have shot a standard Howa HACT trigger. The Howa Elevate is nice at 1.5lb from factory, that is my go-to deer rifle and 8lb finished with scope, bipod, brake and strap. When you blueprint a Howa it is cheap because they are true. Nose and threads, lugs... you could do bolt face, pin hole sleave, new pin and spring but these are trainers and more gain can be made by shooting and lifting your skills... thats what I made 223/308/6CM for. I have 2 R700's I did in 7PRC and 300WSM, way more expensive and so many more mods, like 4 times the price. 2 custom action guns in 7PRCW and 6GT. Howa is a great start... look at recoil lug.... Tikka is a joke little bit of tin... even better than R700 as in size and integral. Just a pity they always have short barrels and thin.
Well it looks like youtube is gonna demonetize and strike this video🤣😂 gotta love being a guntuber! See you all at the next video!
For why? RUclips is the devil.
Good video. Short and to the point. 👍👍👍
Thank you Derick.
This is very informative for both new and seasoned shooters. Thanks for caring about your fellow shooters.
You are very welcome
Figured the hunters who watch precision rifle content could really benefit from something like this
Nice setup and walk thru. Subbed.
Awesome, thank you!
ive got 2 howa 1500 and i love them i stack groups at 300 with both of them cant complain
Keep it budget and run the Arken EP5. Id like to see how you do in a prs match keeping it as budget as possible
Agreed. Find that just barely good enough glass for PRS. We’ll call the current glass hunting glass.
Built this same gun 1 years ago. With Arken EP5. With a 26 inch outlier barrel
I am literally in the middle of building this exact gun for my wife. I started ordering stuff a week ago. That's funny 😂.
That's an awesome setup
Good honest and interesting video, thanks!
I was gonna ask what caliber. Then decided to do what you had taken the effort to do and went to the links. 😂 good video.
Hahahah 😂
Glad I could help!

Whats up texas baby good job with erik seeing big deer in.south texas
Been making rifles like this in the basement for over 30 years…
And that entire time people swore it couldn’t be done….
That field stock looks like it has more features that the oryx chassis!
Which caliber is chambered for the rifle in this video? I must have missed it.
It’s a 6.5 Creedmoor
@@averageshot I suspected but wasn't sure. Thank you.
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Nice work 👍. I’ve been looking at almost the same; howa 6.5 Grendel action/barrel & and Arken. It would be for fun/kid’s deer rifle
Did you bed it or, just drop it in?
Just dropped it in
not a bad entry level gun at all.
I’m glad you think so too!
Hey Did you do anything to the trigger? I have Howa 1500 heavy barrel in 308.
I have not done any trigger work. Admittedly it’s not that good lol the next step to set it up for PRS will include a trigger job
@ Ok. Sorry new to the PRS. What is a PRS trigger set up include?

You can change the trigger spring yourself. I used a pen spring, works amazing.
@@averageshot thank you
How is that possible to build that gun for lease then 1300?

No hate here! But I laughed out loud when it cut and then right after you say “this is all one take”

Only thing budget about that is the bipod.
You can only get so cheap and maintain consistent 1moa performance

👍🏻👍🏻

Just because YOU CAN’T, doesn’t mean others can’t.
I may do a 6m creed in that Howa. I like that MDT to. Just be careful how high those shots are at them power lines
