"About half an hour into the screening the film got trapped in the projector and caught fire! That was the good news!" - Has to be one of Ebert's funniest lines.
“For having seen this movie, I want months and months and months in a beautiful valley with honey, nectar, and zephyr-like breezes....AND A BIG CAR.” Bless you, Roger Ebert. Hope you’re enjoying the gifts of your reincarnation.
If Siskel didn't die and Ebert didn't lose his voice we would still have siskel and ebert. Even if gene did still die We Would Still Have Ebert And Roeper. I wish I could change the past.
I know people always, of course, love the classic Siskel/Ebert duo, but I think Roeper more than held up his end of that dynamic when Siskel passed away. Always enjoyed his insight and, while he did tend to be more agreeable with Ebert, they had no problems disagreeing with one another, it's just that Roeper wouldn't double down like Siskel and Ebert tended to do with one another lol.
First things first, Rest in Peace Gene Siskel, you were an intricate part to movie criticism, and it is a joy to see you in these clips. Get well soon Roger Ebert, you are the best written word critic and you and Gene were the best spoken word film critics ever. Richard Roeper has a lot of integrity to walk from this situation as it seems Disney was trying to force Roger out due to his illness. Gene Siskel's shoes can never be filled but you are a strong human with well spoken opinions.
I can't get enough of "Roger will be back with more comments about this movie on other shows. It will take other shows to complete your review." Very funny.
I was ready to say thanks again for these great compilations, and then I saw your announcement at the end and I was pretty grief-stricken. Been watching since 1979. Somehow, the show is still compelling with Phillips and Roeper. R.I.P. But still, thanks for these and please keep 'em coming.
Man, Bill Cosby hawking some soda while trying to make a film, I can't believe it! This is an all time low for Cosby, really, how much lower can he possibly sink!
You know what's interesting Ebert died the year before Cosby was exposed as a rapist. If only Ebert had known that he had only scraped the surface of Cosby sins.
You know what? This has actually become pretty funny now. The same people (or possibly person) watching every single video on youtube with someone they hate because he made a rude but sensible remark about a drunk driver's death. Commenting the same uncreative insults and cursing at anyone who defends the person they came to a video to see. This just kind of made my day. I'm thoroughly grateful for how stupid and naive people can be.
My all-time favourite review of their's belongs at 2:00. Just classic, it's amazing how two simple guys can make such a horrendous movie all worth the while. Gotta love Roger and Gene.
A lot of people point to Siskel and Ebert arguing as the highlights, and their arguments are awesome, but I love it when they just laugh over how much they both hate a film and they prop up each other's riffs instead of throwing them at each other.
Yeah I agree, Phillips is great too. He probably works better with Roeper than Ebert does, but nothing can outshine the chemistry that Siskel and Ebert had. The funniest part of this review was the way Roeper delivered: Great chemistry between Murphy and the dog.
The blue set they switched over to in the Summer of '91 was so much better than the dark orange of 1986-91. That complementary brownish-orange makeup really didn't flatter Roger.
Yeah, that is sad. It's a great format - two witty individuals, that's TWO, so there's some room for objectivity - talk about films for about 20 minutes. And both dynamics work. With Siskel it was two old friends, and with Roeper it's kind of like the old master and the young cocky apprentice. If the show was gonna go on, I would have wanted that Michael Phillips guy to keep doing it with Roeper. (Plus I like the fact all the critics have been liberal and hate the MPAA.)
At the movies has now gone to the great hall of television in the sky. Would love to see someone put together a compilation DVD of the best reviews, only thing is they would have to get permission to use the clips of the movies. A great show that I love rewatching on youtube.
While I disagree with Ebert about the movie Black Book (I thought it was stupid) I do agree with him that Murphy had great charisma and it's unfortunate that her life ended to soon.
lol at 5:37, "Roger will be back to finish his review on other shows, and it'll take other shows to complete your review." Roger is working possibly along with Roeper to continue the reviewing tradition on another show. I hope they're successful. They're apparently going to turn At the Movies into some breed of ET or Access Hollywood and that's sad.
@MrSratticusFinch, I'm glad you can laugh at this. my friend, you see these comments as just hopeless trolls, I see people with severe mental problems & honestly, it scares me a little. this isn't a knock at you, good sir, I was just pointing out how we look differently at these things, & thank you for saying these things.
Ebert actually did have positive things to say about the 3-D in Avatar, though later on he wrote an article blasting 3-d so I think he's still mostly negetive about it. Most good 3-D has been done in animated movies. It has gotten better certainly since Spy Kids 3-D, but most live action movies should stay the hell away from it in my opinion.
@moviehypno23 They weren't Siskel & Ebert, and I agree that they gave Shutter Island an unfair review, but they were definitely a step up from the boring Bens. I still don't know what they were thinking.
I honestly believe that Ashton Kutcher is living proof you don't have to have talent to make it in life. Millions of this people in this country are out of work but he keeps making movies. Why isn't Pauly Shore still out there making films??
Man someone needs to release a Siskel, Ebert, and Roeper dvd collection. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
ditto
Me too, I would want it in letterbox as well.
"About half an hour into the screening the film got trapped in the projector and caught fire! That was the good news!" - Has to be one of Ebert's funniest lines.
0:50 “Boy… you’re upset. AND YOU KNOW I AM TOO!” Absolutely kills me every time.
“For having seen this movie, I want months and months and months in a beautiful valley with honey, nectar, and zephyr-like breezes....AND A BIG CAR.” Bless you, Roger Ebert. Hope you’re enjoying the gifts of your reincarnation.
He should have some coming his way. He saw North and Caligula…
"You liked this movie? GOOD GOD." Haha, best Ebert quote ever.
Their enthusiasm and love of films makes my day
I can only hope to have a fraction of what they have.
If Siskel didn't die and Ebert didn't lose his voice we would still have siskel and ebert. Even if gene did still die We Would Still Have Ebert And Roeper. I wish I could change the past.
Siskel: "Boy...you're upset. And you know what?
I AM TOO!!
(Ebert laughs)
Love that part.
Leonard Part 6, a film that ranks at possibly--even still--Bill Cosby's worst atrocity.
"Go stand in the lobby and talk!" Priceless.
I know people always, of course, love the classic Siskel/Ebert duo, but I think Roeper more than held up his end of that dynamic when Siskel passed away. Always enjoyed his insight and, while he did tend to be more agreeable with Ebert, they had no problems disagreeing with one another, it's just that Roeper wouldn't double down like Siskel and Ebert tended to do with one another lol.
this is my third time through this set of videos, i love it!
"You have simple tastes."
"...and a big car!"
I hope he got it when he passed away.
First things first, Rest in Peace Gene Siskel, you were an intricate part to movie criticism, and it is a joy to see you in these clips.
Get well soon Roger Ebert, you are the best written word critic and you and Gene were the best spoken word film critics ever.

Parts 1 - 4 start with "fun with", "more fun", "even more fun", "yet even more" respectively, after that they're all numbered. You're welcome.
,
I can't get enough of "Roger will be back with more comments about this movie on other shows. It will take other shows to complete your review." Very funny.
Now I remember why I loved this show, in all of its siskel, ebert, roeper iterations, so much!!!
Roger’s tirade about Tai-Pan was genius
I love these 3 guys!
"Great chemistry there between Murphy and the dog."
-- LMAO!!!
Gene's "Let me try" during the Frozen Assets review kills me.
Too bad they didn't keep it that way, the dopes. The uncle fuckers. The donkey raping shit eaters at Disney.
You didn't need the background music.
probably for confusing the copyright bot
@@UnCreativeDeconstructionism How the hell is placing copyrighted music over copyrighted footage going to make it any less copyrighted?
@@Bauglir100 it just is what it is sometimes. lol
Leonard Part 6 is no longer the worst offence that Cosby committed.
R.I.p. Brittany Murphy
I really miss these guys.
That dear god at the very end needs to be a GIF lol I died laughing 😂
siskel & ebert are hilarious wonderful and brilliant.
Thank you for using a song from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. What a great soundtrack :')
Ebert is so bang on with 3D
Poor Britney Murphy :(((
"Roger will be back with more comments about this movie on other shows." ROFL!!!!! I love it!
Opening is the best part. I laughed out loud.
Thanks for these videos, they are great. I hope you make some more! >:)
Man, Bill Cosby hawking some soda while trying to make a film, I can't believe it! This is an all time low for Cosby, really, how much lower can he possibly sink!
Peng Win he should be ashamed of himself. Safe to say he would never do anything worse than that.
You know what's interesting Ebert died the year before Cosby was exposed as a rapist. If only Ebert had known that he had only scraped the surface of Cosby sins.
RIP Ebert.
LOL, I love the direction of this movie, seriously I like how you picked great videogame music that I never knew could be used to run with comedy haha
That review of Swordfish review lol you know that went in for awhile lol funny
You know what? This has actually become pretty funny now. These reviews need to be in the extras of older DVDs 📀 give the people what they want
Hey, that music is from Yoshi's Island! Wow, that is funny. I love Siskel, Ebert and Roeper. Thank you so much for a great video!
My all-time favourite review of their's belongs at 2:00. Just classic, it's amazing how two simple guys can make such a horrendous movie all worth the while.
Gotta love Roger and Gene.
Very well put, I quite agree.

The funniest part of this review was the way Roeper delivered:

RIP you genius!
oh Ebert. Everything I loathe about 3d was just told to the world.
“These characters are too stupid to be in a movie.” LOL
What's the ending music from? It's driving me crazy.
tan taran tan tan tan tan, tan taran tan tan tan, tan taran taran tan, tan taran tan tan tan....
I love Yoshi's Island.
The blue set they switched over to in the Summer of '91 was so much better than the dark orange of 1986-91. That complementary brownish-orange makeup really didn't flatter Roger.
0:10 stop it, Rog! this is too funny!
@punisher1432
Siskel: You have simple taste
Ebert: And a big car
LMAO
I want this handsome man Ebert!
no way they're as good as Siskel and Ebert
Was Siskel replaced by Roeper after he passed and Ebert replaced by Phillips?
Siskel, Roeper and Ebert were never together on the show correct?
Loved Rogers reincarnation-joke.
Angelus Wonder if that is what happened to him when he died in 2013?
Angelus I lost it at "zephyr like breezes" lol
where can i find the individual video reviews??
CRSystem Look on here. Some of them are.
CRSystem siskelandebertblog on Google search
@clementj642 You are cool for uploading things other than LPs. I love your stuff! Keep it coming!
And the BIG CAR!
Yoshi's Island in my Siskel and Ebert? Fuck yes!
Yeah, that is sad. It's a great format - two witty individuals, that's TWO, so there's some room for objectivity - talk about films for about 20 minutes.

great videos, keep em comin
I'm glad to see I;m not the only one who loves it when they hate a movie
If Roeper only knew what Kutcher would do later....
Nothing good?
I was talking about ben lyons and ben mankiewicz not ebert and roeper.
Hugo in 3D is amazing though.
Ha! The film catching fire was the best part!
the background music sounds like one of the levels from Super Mario World for the SNES
RIP
It actually works now...
4:39 Fascinating commentary.
While I disagree with Ebert about the movie Black Book (I thought it was stupid) I do agree with him that Murphy had great charisma and it's unfortunate that her life ended to soon.
@Kagehelvede boy, you're upset, AND YOU KNOW I AM TOO!!! (RIP Siskel, best wishes Ebert)
@YesWeCantaloupe Roeper is an excellent critic and a very witty man.
"Hey Ebert do you know what else Colombia makes"? COCAINE
Two thumbs up from me.
are they really going to have a Roeper and Phillips review show???
lol at 5:37, "Roger will be back to finish his review on other shows, and it'll take other shows to complete your review."
Roger is working possibly along with Roeper to continue the reviewing tradition on another show. I hope they're successful. They're apparently going to turn At the Movies into some breed of ET or Access Hollywood and that's sad.
wats the keanue reeves movie theyre talking about
1:00 I like that too, the only reason anyone should ever watch that movie
@MrSratticusFinch, I'm glad you can laugh at this. my friend, you see these comments as just hopeless trolls, I see people with severe mental problems & honestly, it scares me a little. this isn't a knock at you, good sir, I was just pointing out how we look differently at these things, & thank you for saying these things.
"Little Black Book" is so funny. Roeper got wrong!
What's the music at the end? I KNOW IT!!!
@Tman4341 Ahhh... probably a memory I shouldn't have brought back up haha. Thanks though! =]
And this is why I will NEVER see a film in 3D.

thats how u end up at the clinic too!!!! lmao
I'm gonna go have a coke lol
@moviehypno23 They weren't Siskel & Ebert, and I agree that they gave Shutter Island an unfair review, but they were definitely a step up from the boring Bens. I still don't know what they were thinking.
We can see Roger and his fanboys!
lmao @ them saying Rob Schneider's movie was at least in color and in focus
Yeah, I hate when that happens.
Then I apologize if I offended you. the comment you left was a little vague. so i was confused.
Boy...you're upset -- well you know I am too!
another 4 stars
I honestly believe that Ashton Kutcher is living proof you don't have to have talent to make it in life. Millions of this people in this country are out of work but he keeps making movies. Why isn't Pauly Shore still out there making films??
