So bitter sweet to watch these men. When I was a teenager in Detroit, Michigan back in the seventies every Saturday I couldn't wait to watch them on Sneak Previews. They taught me the beauty and essence of film and acting. And they're one of the best comedy teams ever. Thank you Gene. Thank you Roger.
@@bloboshitful I get it now. That makes him "way cool" and immortal in their little boy eyes. they are ignorant of Ebert's history. The fantasy world of Hollywood fills their lonely nights. Ebert is gone and forgotten. I am here to howl at these freaks who admire his sweater vests and giant glasses. It is the only date they will ever have!
I love how they are able to laugh at themselves. It's hysterical. You would think they'd be snobs, but they laugh at their own flawes. Love it. (Like I said before, I watch this a few times a day!)
"And also this week, Michael Keaton's new comeeOOOOOEUD"....that's when the 20 kiloton nuclear blast went off and decimated 2/3 of metropolitan Chicago.
Mr. Ebert, you are an inspiration, a hero, and my role model. But I refuse to type that you "were" an inspiration. My brain can't handle that sort of grief just yet.
can't get enough of this. i have a brother, unfortunately, he's 35 years younger than me. if he weren't we'd be just like this. thanks so much for posting this. i'll tell ya, i'm in the grip of a serious depression and this video really, truly brings me out of it. thanks so much for posting this. if you have any other siskel/ebert madness, please post it. thanks again.
Ebert always said he was in a marriage with Siskel and they turned out to be best friends and brothers for decades. One of the Ebert's last interview through a voicebox he said "I miss the hell out of that guy"....
God! I grew up watching these guys. I remember I wanted so much for the weekend to arrive just so I can hear these guys talk about movies. I actually think they were a big contribution as to why I decided filmmaking as a career. Aww, I will miss this show :(
This is great. They had great banter on and off screen. It was like they hated each other, but at the same time, they almost loved each other. Like a great comic duo, they took incredibly daring and nasty shots at each other, but could always laugh about it, and in the end it always worked.
I miss these guys! This is a funny clip but it’s also sad because in retrospect, I wonder if his speech issues were early warning signs of his illness. But it’s best to look back at the good times and laugh at how these two could enjoy some bantering with each other.
I’m pretty sure he had a few drinks while filming. Really don’t think it has anything to do with his illness that he wasn’t diagnosed with until about ten years later.
So hilarious and beautiful. The two of them were so magical together, it almost didn't seem real, too good to be true. It killed me to see Siskel cough like that, because somehow of knowing what was gonna happen so many years later. His death still makes me wanna cry to this day.
Ironically, Gene's screen presence was the more polished of the two, I always thought. And here he is getting dragged for flubbing lines. 😂 I never regarded these two as the pinnacle of critical acumen or whatever, very middlebrow, but they were good journalists and excellent TV presenters, and as a duo, they were unrivaled at this popular-level movie review TV thing. They were household names for a reason, and none of Gene's successors could ever quite fill his shoes, in my opinion.
around the same age, working in the same city for competing newspapers, a real "rival" relationship, always trying to top each other. Ebert was the better critic and Siskel the better tv personality...
They were both laughing the entire time on this one. It looks like this is what they do to kill time between camera takes. Also it keeps their rivalry sharp for the show. Probably like a warm up routine. Want to see more.
How awesome and hilarious would it be to see a movie just with these two talking about movies and having conversations about anything. Just mix in the scenarios and style of the writing from something like Fargo, Pulp Fiction and the realistic dialogue from the Before Trilogy and My Dinner with Andre
I wish there was more out takes like this with Siskle and Ebert just ripping into each other...they obviously both find it hilarious and they obviously got on together quite well to be able to dish it out like that....
They may go back and forth a lot, but it's obvious this is more friends messing with each opposed to cruelty; otherwise both of them wouldn't be laughing their asses off. Plus Ebert talks about Siskel a lot in his blog even though he's been dead all these years.
I love how Gene can laugh at himself just as much as he dished it out at Roger. I miss those guys.
“Do you know for Gene, speech is a second language?”
#deeeeeeaaaaaddddddddddddd
Roger was so witty! I loved both of them. RIP guys.
Fucking hilarious when you consider what happened to Ebert’s mouth.
I say that all the time!
No matter how many times I see this, ".... the following" never fails to slay me.

"One of everything to go! And one of everything to stay here!" I. AM. DEAD. HAHA
Lol. Can you IMAGINE the quantity of food that would be!
I love how Ebert starts REVIEWING Siskel's insults.
Brilliant.
Noone can deny they had a chemistry that has never been matched.
"He ordered a cone and a sundae!" LMAO! I watch this a few times a day. I love it.
That's true friendship.
Two ugly old drunks who are dead
KOHF34 absolutely a true friendship
Ebert took his last drink in the late 60s, decades before their TV show.
@@DLSacks it is drunk here

Anyone who looks at this and doesn't see two guys who loved the hell out of each other just doesn't get guys.
Ebert fanboys are complete losers who make him seem like Miss America. Any bullshit ( Hollywood escapism from sad reality) turns them on
@MotherofGodandSatan You're a turd. You know when things don't go well for you, remember it's because you're such a scumbag douche.
@MotherofGodandSatan He quit drinking in 1979, asshole.
@MotherofGodandSatan you seem to be a generally unpleasant person, that is all.
@MotherofGodandSatan You are right. He was a mutant before cancer
What a wonderful, rare working relationship these two had. And hearing Siskel F-bomb ... priceless

"Do you want cheese with your cheeseburger?"
"Yes."
"They ask Roger if you want cheese with your cheeseburger, he says yes!" -- I have no idea why that's so funny, but it is.
I’m 42 here in 2020. Watching this makes me miss not only them, so much, but life in the 80’s and 90’s.
Gene: He ordered every FUCKING thing they had!
Priceless!!
It’s always weird hearing a daytime tv personality curse like that lol
A bit shocking to hear siskel swear
@@MiltonRosso that’s what I’m saying
I love how quickly they transition back into the script for the promo.
"And also this week, Michael Keaton's new comeeOOOOOEUD"....that's when the 20 kiloton nuclear blast went off and decimated 2/3 of metropolitan Chicago.
"Shake-milk" might be my new favorite non-word.
Want some shakes?
“Mr. Jones could you come out here, you can understand Mr. Siskel can’t you?”
"He ordered a cone AND a sundae" fucking hilarious!!!
These guys were a riot.
These two and their tired fans were totally UNcool
I love how they laugh at each other’s insults. Neither are very good at insulting the other so in the end everyone’s having a good time
Roasting each other just like two teenaged brothers would! Love it!

S&E were the best! I miss them both so much.
LMFAO!! God, I fucking miss them both!!
McDonald's makes me want to eat. Ebert makes me want to puke
Dottiecurran WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT????????????????????????????????????
Dottiecurran You must like to puke since you watch these videos.
Jack Torrance I guess anything is better than seeing you suck off fatso Ebert again!
PS- I have never seen this vid, I come here to howl at Ebert fans
Dottiecurran Woah, keep your fantasies of sucking Roger Ebert to yourself bub.
"yes, I'll have everything on the menu, twice, the menu AND the 'Thank you, please come again' and 'No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service' signs, also"
Omg! I love this. Lol. R. I. P. To both critics!! I miss you!
I LOVE that Gene Siskel can laugh at himself!!

Broke: Siskel and Ebert viciously arguing
Woke: Two bros casually roasting each other
“Salad cherry pie and a coke, on the burger”
That killed me lmao
This was the hardest I've laughed in a long time. Both guys were hilarious.
"Roger's first language is....Yes I'll have apple pie with my order"
I rate that F Bomb to thumbs up
Nicholas Nelson *Two
"I knew you couldn't keep that string going much longer without a grammitical error."
The Chicago Boyz ❤️ miss them so much!
Mr. Siskel appears to be hammered. I mean, he seems straight-up drunk!
hmbpnz Lol those two were drunk half the time anyway!!! Hahahaha
I miss these guys! This is a funny clip but it’s also sad because in retrospect, I wonder if his speech issues were early warning signs of his illness. But it’s best to look back at the good times and laugh at how these two could enjoy some bantering with each other.
RoboCop came out in 1987. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1998. Hopefully he wasn't suffering from the effects that early on.
Gene Siskel had a speech impediment from birth. Look at some of their movie reviews from the seventies and he still talked that way.
I’m pretty sure he had a few drinks while filming. Really don’t think it has anything to do with his illness that he wasn’t diagnosed with until about ten years later.
Man you can already tell from just the show but Roger is a funny ass dude!
These two were clearly soul mates, I love this sh-t hahaha
After all the sarcasm insults I can only listen "God, I love this guy" and "I love him too"
"shakemilk! pounder quarter!" LOL
So hilarious and beautiful. The two of them were so magical together, it almost didn't seem real, too good to be true.
It killed me to see Siskel cough like that, because somehow of knowing what was gonna happen so many years later. His death still makes me wanna cry to this day.
"They ask Roger do you want cheese with your cheeseburger, he says 'yes'" lol!
In later years, Ebert probably would have said “Yes” to, “Would you like to super-size that?”
Siskel's laugh at :54 or so is great.. like he's saying "Ok.. here we GO!"
I feel cheated. They really edited this for the Ebert Doc. This is WAY THE FUCK BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll have the following, and another thing, and another thing, and pickles.

This video is hilarious! They made such an awesome pair. Thanks a lot for sharing. :)
Siskel seemed to be having such a good time there!
"The following..."
Man, this is great schtick! What entertainment for those working on the set and, now, for us. Thanks so much for posting this, plinko23
everyone talks about how they hated each other. seems to me they clearly liked each other so much that they felt comfortable joking around.
That was fantastic! "I'll have the following and another thing!" hahaha

This was AWESOME!!!! Thanks. His impression of Gene was hilarious
are you over 5?
LOL, they're like a stand-up team!
Roger's jokes were brilliant because he was mocking every detail of Gene. Gene was just mocking Roger's weight.
Two type A personalities at their fiery best. Good times! I miss Siskel so much and I love Ebert. I hope he's around for a long time...
oh my, was all the tv I watched this low in resolution.
I think this video shows what great friends they truly were.
Man, they were the best. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for posting this!
Siskel's cough (2:02) is so prolific.
I knew they fought alot but I had no idea to what extent thisis HILARIOUS!! they are so sarcastic and brutal its great

You can tell at that point that Roger is thinking "ok Gene, that's enough."

Aw...those were the days...everything I learned from film criticism, I learned from these two...especially Ebert :) Thx for posting!

Haha, they're definitely blazed :)) It looks like they just discovered sinsemilla.
They look high! lol
My god this is hilarious. I loved these guys back in the day. Their Letterman appearances are great too.
Now, this is how you do a roast. Lighthearted, but pointed. Laugh at each other laughing at yourselves. (:
God damn Siskel is loaded.
R.I.P Gene and Roger
They may go back and forth a lot, but it's obvious this is more friends messing with each opposed to cruelty; otherwise both of them wouldn't be laughing their asses off.

Holy Eff this is Pure Gold!
0:46 Hilarious! Also, what a great sport Gene is!
A side to them we don't often see, lol. This is hilarious, thanks for posting.
This back & forth reminds me of the "do you know how I know you're gay" scene from The 40 Year Old Virgin. LOL!
Jesus Gene, what a fresh roasting
Shake milk ShakeMilk SHAKEMILK!😂🎉
Seeing Siskel curse is golden
They were both giving it to each other pretty good.
I don't like siskel on his views on movies but this clip with them is golden and hilarious!
man these guys could probably come up with the best yo mama jokes
